Oh, Happy Day!! Ranger’s no longer in danger!!! He was adopted yesterday by a wonderful family in Long Beach! Thank you to all who shared his story and who reached out to us to help. The Long Beach shelter volunteers and staff were incredible in responding to our many text messages and emails to give us a few more days to find a home and to coordinate meet-and-greets with our boy. A personal “gracias” to Jen who was a soldier in helping us network and who pointed Ranger’s family to us ❤️
This was another stressful and time-consuming save but there are so many more dogs like Ranger who are overlooked and who deteriorate in their kennels. We’re ready to fight for more dogs. Are you ready to help us?
UPDATE: 12/1/22 We were in the midst of setting up a meet and greet today with a potential foster but then were told that Kasha’s current owner gave her to a family member 🤷♀️ Hoping this sweet girl is safe and well-loved.
PUPPY LOVE!! FURever meeting this beautiful 6-month old Belgian Malinois for the first time. We’re looking for a foster 🥰 Any takers?!

Frosted Faces Rescue has saved our senior boy Marvin!!! If you’d like to know more about fostering and how you can save a life, pls go to www.Foster2FURever.com, select “Save a Dog’s Life” at the top of the page, and fill out the short questionnaire. We’ll contact you to answer any questions you may have.
WHAT THE FLUFF?! Why this 2-year old 45 lb female Lab / German Shepherd mix hasn’t been snatched up is beyond us! Shayne has gone through training, gets along well with other dogs, is highly intelligent, loves people with good energy, loves to play in water (of course, she’s part lab) and thinks she’s a lap dog.
We met her on Tuesday and she’s as wonderful as advertised 🥰 There are so many paw-sibilities with Shayne. She would make a great running, hiking or adventure buddy. If you have a high-energy dog, she’d help your dog burn off some energy cuz she loves to run and play. After you and her get some exercise, she’ll cuddle and love on you.
To top it off, Outta the Cage, a very reputable dog rescue here in SoCal, will pay for any vet bills and supplies, as well as help you continue her training and transition her into your home!
Interested in fostering or fostering-to-adopt Shayne? Contact www.Foster2Furever.com, select the “Save a Dog’s Life” and fill out our short questionnaire. We’ll contact you and answer any questions you have about how fostering works.
Another video of Shayne that shows what a love bug she is. Outta the Cage dog rescue is looking for a foster or adopter.
Long Beach shelter staff working with Max
UPDATE: We tried but we were unable to save beautiful Max.
Max is a 3 year old male German Shepherd currently at the Long Beach shelter, and I’m sad to say has been scheduled for euthanasia in a couple of days. Max’s story is similar to many others like him…mistreated, lacking confidence and then surrendered by his owner.
Max was very nervous when he arrived at the shelter, and once he was confined to his kennel he was cautious of everyone and alarm barking at people who approached his kennel. He was extremely frightened by direct eye contact and would instantly freeze expecting something bad to happen. The staff and volunteers at the shelter have been able to help him overcome some of his anxiety but he is still nervous of physical touch by people he doesn’t know, which limits his options for public adoption and has now placed him on the euthanasia list.
According to the owner surrender notes, Max lived with children in his prior home and is noted as being gentle with them. He also lived with another dog in the home and has been receptive to other friendly dogs at the shelter, but when he was a few months old he was attacked by an off-leash dog and as a result can be reactive to other dogs that display reactive/aggressive behavior towards him. We don’t know the details of Max’s untrusting behavior but regardless he needs to be in a place where an experienced handler can continue to work with him.
We have a rescue interested in sponsoring him but need a foster who has experience with behavior dogs. This is a tough ask but we’re putting it out there!
Max only has until Tuesday so this is urgent. If you or someone you know is capable and interested in helping Max, pls message me or go to www.Foster2Furever.com to fill out our questionnaire.
No time to waste, share his story, ACT NOW!
PUPDATE: Adopted 1/28/22!!
Part beagle, part cinnamon latte, Harlequin is a sweet little hound who pines for love. The Long Beach shelter calls her “Harley” but the name tag she had on her collar when she arrived said “Harlequin” so that’s that!
Harlequin is a beautiful one year old, weighs about 55-60 lbs and was surrendered by her family. Can you believe it?! Who would hand over this sweet bundle of joy to a kill shelter?! 😔
Harlequin is so happy to meet everyone, and will greet you with a wagging tail and wiggling body. She loves affection and will do anything for a belly rub and a squeaky toy. She also seems to be dog friendly, so if you’re looking for a companion for your dog, here she is!
If interested in adopting her, email [email protected] to set up an appointment for “Harley ID A664958”. (BTW the Shelter is severely understaffed so if you don’t hear back in 2 days, let me know and I’ll help get you an appointment.)
As another option, I have a rescue who is interested in sponsoring her so if you’re interested in fostering, pls contact Foster2Furever.com. We can share more info about this beauty and the fostering process.
Our boy Bramble from Long Beach shelter is on his way to an amazing rescue!
Thank you to Thulani Rescue and Terry McKiernan for saving senior boy Titus from the Long Beach Shelter. Titus is sight-impaired and had a terrible tumor hanging from his neck (it was removed when he was neutered). He was surrendered by his owner so I’m sure he’s been stressed and wondering where his family is. He now has a loving foster family including a canine sibling to hang out with. Pls consider donating to Thulani Rescue. They sponsor senior German Shepherd dogs who need medical care, so I know they can use the financial support.

Beautiful Daphne has been at the Long Beach shelter for almost 3 months now, and we recently found out that she’s been in other shelters, probably adopted and then tossed aside 😞 Daphne is a young, active girl with energy to spare! She requires an experienced dog owner, who is active and can work with her on resource guarding of food and toys. A very reputable trainer has offered to donate training sessions to help her be her better self. For now, it would be best if Daphne found a home with no children under 16. Won’t you help us finally get Daphne into a stable and loving environment? If you’re interested in fostering Daphne, Pls contact Foster2Furever.com. If you’re unable to foster her, pls share with your network.
UPDATE: Rescued!
Chandler Needs a Friend
Say “hello” to Chandler who has been in lickdown at the Long Beach Shelter for almost 3 months. I haven’t been able to spend much time with him because the shelter is full but I took him out Friday and quickly fell in love. He was a bit hesitant at first but realized I was a friend and started wagging his tail and gently taking treats from my hand. Chandler is 5 years old and a medium sized German Shepherd. If you love this breed, you will love him.
For more information or to make an appointment to meet him, call 562/570-4925 or email [email protected].
Chandler’s ID # is A657921
