Los Angeles County Animal Care Foundation The Los Angeles County Animal Care Foundation is a non-profit 501(c)3 that supports the Los Angeles

Our Foundation administers various programs that directly benefit animals in Los Angeles County communities. This includes:

Dreams Come True Fund makes dreams come true by providing the required funds for special medical procedures and needs for pets at the Department of Animal Care and Control. Grooming Gives Hope program provides funding to help dogs that require professional grooming receive t

he grooming that they need. Not only does it increase the comfort of animals who may be badly in need of grooming, but the grooming makes the dog more visually appealing, therefore increasing its adoptability. Noah’s Legacy Fund was established to provide for the needs of pets that are left behind or otherwise separated from their human families in major disasters and to support the Department’s emergency-response efforts that are so critical to the communities we serve as we continue to respond to the wildfires, flooding, and earthquakes that can occur here.

🎉 A Happy Reunion and a Special Birthday Gift 🎉

This week, as the raging Franklin Fire forced evacuations in Malibu, Los Angeles County Animal Care and Control sprang into action to assist displaced residents—including beloved actor Dick Van D**e, his wife Arlene Silver, and their pets. Amid the chaos of evacuations, one of his cherished cats, Bobo, went missing.

DACC Corporals Edward Barajas and Mireya Martinez learned of Bobo’s disappearance and went to the Van D**e property to find him. They learned that Bobo was found safely hiding on the Van D**e property and reunited with Mr. and Mrs. Van D**e—a heartwarming moment just in time for Mr. Van D**e's 99th birthday! 🐾🎂

We at the Los Angeles County Animal Care Foundation are so proud to support these incredible efforts to protect pets and their families during emergencies. This touching story is a reminder of the power of community and compassion.

Join us in celebrating this special reunion and wishing Dick Van D**e a very happy 99th birthday! 🎉🐾💛

The Los Angeles Los Angeles County Animal Care Foundation received a generous grant from the Carol Moss Foundation to retain two full-time dog groomers over the next year to improve the health and adoptability of County of Los Angeles Department of Animal Care and Control animals!

Lottie arrived at our Carson/Gardena ACC with a severely matted coat. After grooming, she looked like a different dog and was adopted and is now a dearly loved member of the Kneisel family. They reported: “We have now had her a little over a year, and can’t thank you enough for all you did to

Here's a super sweet dog at the County of Los Angeles Palmdale Animal Care Center. She came in as a stray and has been named Piglet but that can be changed! Her ID is A5654218. Two rescue notifications have gone out, with no response. She has a really interesting smudge of black hair on the top of her head that makes her very unique looking! She is already spayed and ready to go home. If you're interested, please contact the ACC at [email protected] or (661) (661) 575-2888. Thank you!

Her behavior notes say, "She greeted the runner at the gate with a loose body while soliciting affection. She was easily leashed in kennel. She pulled moderately on leash while walking to the catch pen. She had a wiggly body as she shadowed the runner, allowing him to easily clasp the collar around her neck. She was timid of the dogs in the yard, slowly approaching the fence and stretching her body to sniff in their general direction. She lacked confidence entering the yard with a low head and low tail. She tolerated a few dogs coming up to sniff her body while tense. As they walked away from her, she became playful, running up to a handler to solicit affection with a wiggly body. A playful female pit bull came up. She quickly flashed her teeth, warning the pit bull for space. She spent a few moments calmly roaming the yard keeping to herself. As she roamed and acclimated to the yard she began to relax. She was more accepting of the other dogs coming up to her quickly but remained somewhat wary of high energy. She stood in the pool a few times, lightly splashing around. She then engaged in some gentle/dainty play with the female pit bull. She was comfortable with light body contact as the two ran together. A male husky came in and attempted to play with her. He was much more physical with his play. She was not comfortable with him pawing and body checking her as he ran by. She did not offer any corrections as she tried to create space from him. She remained social and playful for the remainder of her stay in the yard. She need confidence building and further socialization. BEHAVIORALLY OK FOR PUBLIC ADOPTION, CALM DOGS (REC), MEDIUM ENERGY"
