💙💗Adoption Announcement 💙💗

Baby Face Nelson has left the building!
BFN went home with previous adopters, Gary and Jason Wyatt.
They adopted Marley ( formerly Lisa Strayson) several months ago and now Babyface Nelson too!
We are so thrilled that BFN will have a sweet sister to play with and daddies who will love and spoil him. There’s nothing more heartwarming than to see Babyface and Marley playing and being kissy bitey face like long lost friends.

Thank you Jennifer Gibson for fostering and loving this special boy. You were his bridge to his beautiful life with Jason, Gary and Marley.

Happy Life, Babyface and thank you Wyatt family for rescuing another WCBR baby. 🙏🏼🙏🏼

They have been patiently waiting for a sister for their 18 month old Boxer boy, Riker, and Polly was the one.

Thank you Bahos Family for saying yes to Polly Pocket and choosing to rescue.

Introducing Marshall🖤🤍

This stunner came to us as a surrender.
His story is so sad. He and his French Bulldog buddy were abandoned in their apartment for nine months.
Their owner left them with the sliding door open and they managed to survive by the neighbors feeding them over the fence. We are still scratching our heads wondering how this can possibly happen. How in the world can people let this go for nine months and not call the authorities!?
The apartment complex eventually was bought by a new management company and it basically took construction workers to call someone to take the dogs. A woman by the name of Hillary took Marshall and contacted WCBR and relinquished him to us.
Huge thank you to our wonderful volunteer, Brittany Rafuson for picking up and fostering this gorgeous guy. Britt reports that despite his abandonment issues, he is a bit timid but has an amazing personality and temperament. He is starting to show his true goofball nature that Boxers are so famous for. He was calm and mannerly around children on Halloween and did well out socializing today.

Marshall is estimated to be 2 years old. He weighs 67 lbs, has natural ears and a docked tail. He is UTD on his vaccinations and scheduled to be neutered on 11/16. He will be ready for adoption by Dec 1st.

Welcome Marshall 🖤🤍

♏️ Introducing Scorpio ♏️ 💋

This beautiful and sweet boy was tagged fear aggressive at the county shelter and was scheduled to be euthanized tomorrow if no rescue stepped up.

Historically, Boxer dogs who have been deemed “fear aggressive “ we have found are the most sensitive ones who do not do well in a loud and chaotic shelter environment. And this is 💯 percent true with Scorpio.

Before pulling Scorpio today, we spoke with the shelter and asked if he had been aggressive with any workers or have a bite history. The shelter said that he did not but was brought into the shelter as a stray with a catch pole. That alone is quite a hostile act and it must’ve traumatized him. Scorpio decided he was going to try to act like a tough guy to keep everyone away. Thankfully, WCBR saw though his wanna- be tough guy exterior and knew that he was just a frightened baby in a scarey shelter.

Scorpio is estimated to be 2-3 years old. He is a classic fawn with natural ears and a docked tail.
He weighs 59 lbs and has the sweetest temperament.
The moment he knew he was safe and loved, he kidney beaned, leaned in, sat on our volunteer’s lap and turned around to give thank you kisses.
This is the part we love about pulling a dog to safety. That moment when you see their faces soften and their nub wag.

Welcome, Scorpio. You have nothing to worry about.

❤❤ Adoption Announcement ❤❤

George found his pawfect furever home with Cheryl!

He will be loved and cherished by Cheryl who specifically applied for George. At first go, WCBR was apprehensive about placing George with Cheryl as she needed a dog who would be ok in a crate while she was at work.. George is what we termed a Hillbilly Boxer who had absolutely zero inside manners or crate exposure. Without a strong and experienced foster to teach him, we were at a holding pattern with George and had a very disappointed and heartbroken Cheryl.
However, prayers were answered when one day, our amazing and strong foster family came back from a hiatus ( dealing with their beloved cat’s illness and poor health 💔) and asked if they can foster and help George.
It took Britt and Evan two weeks to teach George everything he needed to learn about being an inside dog. George thrived and earned an A+ and was ready for Cheryl. Britt and Evan loved George so much that they wanted to personally deliver him to Cheryl and drove from San Diego to Folsom to facilitate his adoption. All we can say is thank you for going the distance for this special boy.

Happy life, Gentle George!
Thank you Cheryl for never giving up hope for George. Together, we made it happen.

🖤🤍Black Tie Love Affair MAX 🖤🤍
11.25.16 - 10.21.23 12:45pm

Our most elegant gentleman Boxer boy made his journey to the the bridge 🌈 yesterday.
Max declined rapidly overnight Friday and panted continuously for four hours. His mama, Juvy, held him and watched over him throughout the night letting him know everything was going to be ok. This is what the oncologist wanted Juvy to watch for. It would signal the end of his battle with this horrible cancer. It means the cancer had taken over and metastasized into his lungs. We promised him that he would never suffer. I along with everyone had high hopes he would at least have a few months to live the good life with Juvy.

The past three weeks was indeed a good life for Max. He enjoyed being a part of a loving family, playing with Juvy’s grandbaby, Mila and the neighborhood kids, eating the most amazing food ( thank you, Jody Anne) and soaking up all the love and affection the Garcia family gave him. In fact, his last day was a very good one spent playing, getting spoiled and having a spa day with his mama.

We are so grateful the Garcia family for giving Max the best. He was blessed not to suffer a horrible death alone in a backyard. He was given a very dignified send off complete with McDonalds cheeseburgers and chicken nuggets. He loved it. Juvy held him in her arms as he quietly slipped away knowing that he was cherished, loved and adored beyond measure.

We don’t know what it was about Sir Max, but there was something incredibly special about this soul and he came to us to teach us an important lesson in resilience and forgiveness. Our only regret is that we did not get Max into our rescue sooner, but everything in life as we should trust is always in God’s time.

Thank you to everyone who loved and cared enough about Max and his story. Especially, Stephanie and Dr Navarette at Katella Animal Clinic, Dr Fredrickson at Veterinary Cancer Group and everyone who sent prayers up for Max.

Safe journey to the light, Max 🙏🏽
Mr Black Tie Affair, you were so loved.

Elwood and Meadow will be turning 8 weeks old this coming Friday and these beauties are ready to go home.

These two nuggets have been well socialized with adult dogs in their foster home. They are fast learners and seem to have inherited their mama Lily’s good looks and amazing temperament.
Both will have their first round of vaccinations and dewormed.

🏜️ 🌹Adoption Announcement 🌹🏜️

Hurray!! Our last Desert Rose, Willow, went home to her forever home with Diane, who is a previous adopter of ours ( Domino, 2019).
This is a match made in heaven. Willow, who is the shy one and most timid of the four desert roses needed a patient and soft hand to guide her along. Diane has just the right gentle touch to be Willow’ pawfect momma.

Congratulations Diane and Willow! Thank you for choosing to rescue through WCBR again!
Happy Life!

🏜️ 🌹 Adoption Announcement 🏜️🌹

It’s OFFICIAL! The third of our four Desert Roses, Sage now Brandee, is home for good with the Erickson family.
Michelle and Garrett’s hearts are still mending after they lost their sweet Boxer girl Dixie.. But when a special spirit comes along, we can’t deny that somehow perhaps Dixie sent Brandee to help heal her pawrents’ hearts.

Thank you, Michelle and Garrett for opening your hearts and home to this very special girl. Brandee deserves the best and we can only expect her to return the love to you in the same special way that you give it to her.

Congratulations, Brandee and Erickson family 💖💝

🖤🤍Max Report🖤🤍

Max had his oncologist consult at Veterinary Cancer Group in Orange County where he met with Dr Fredrickson and got a thorough assessment of his condition.
Max has Malignant Melanoma which is a very aggressive type of cancer. The mass in his lip is believed to be the origin and the hard lumps in his neck, shoulder and chest are actually his lymph nodes.
They are enlarged because the cancer has spread to them.

Based on the size of the mass (> 3-4 cm), the pattern of lymph node involvement, and presenting symptoms of runny nose and edema on his front right leg, Max is minimally in Stage 3, possibly verging Stage 4 if lungs or if any other organs are involved ( congestion- fluid backing into lungs and panting for oxygen)
The median survival is 3 months. 😭😭

The treatment at this point is palliative not curative. No excision surgery can cure him as the cancer has already spread.

Dr Fredrickson discussed a couple options with us.
Palliative Radiation is one option in which Max would undergo target radiation on the growth. The hope is that it will reduce the melanoma and kill some cancer cells. This will only extend his survival by about 2 months.

She also offered doing a CT scan with biopsy. This would be for a more definitive diagnosis. The CT scan will provide a picture of where the cancer has spread and the biopsy itself will only confirm what Dr Fredrickson has already confidently thinks is malignant melanoma.

Dr F prescribed Piroxicam. An NSAID that is known to help the immune system kill cancer cells and directed us to continue with the gabapentin for pain management. She said that since this is such an aggressive and progressive cancer, Max will at some point have trouble breathing.
She asked to pay close attention to his breathing, especially while he is asleep. Once he starts to exhibit labored breathing, we will know that his cancer has taken hold of his lungs and this is when he would suffer.

The mass in his cheek and lip will continue to grow and we worry about Max being able to eat. Dr F said to give him soft food from now on and anything he wants to eat just to get him nourished.

We are so grateful to mama Juvy for taking on Max. Hospice fostering is not easy. It takes your entire soul when your foster baby is suffering and you are left completely gutted.
Thank you, Juvy, for being Max’s angel and being you. 🙏🏽🙏🏽
Max will know nothing but love and gentleness for the rest of his days. — with Juvy Marbellagas Garcia and 2 others.
