Marley has gone through a difficult time lately, but he always comes to see us with a smile on his face.

Today, he even showered us with personalized doughnuts! We wish Marley a speedy recovery and thank him and his paw-rents for the love/noms 🍩

With the 4th of July right around the corner, has reminded us of ways to keep your pet safe during this holiday:

1) Protect them from Heat - provide plenty of fresh water & shade and avoid taking them out during the hottest part of the day

2) Keep them Inside During Fireworks - loud noises and bright lights can be scary and overwhelming. Keep them inside and talk to us ahead of time if you think your pet would benefit from some anti-anxiety options.

3) Do NOT Leave Food Out - many food/drinks that we enjoy during the 4th of July can be dangerous for pets. Foods like onions, grapes, and chocolate are toxic; while fatty foods like hamburgers and hot dogs can cause digestive issues including pancreatitis.

4) Make sure your Pets have Proper Identification - more pets go missing during this holiday than any other. Make sure everyone is wearing a collar with ID tags and we are always an advocate for microchipping your pet.

5) Have a Plan for ER - if the worst happens and your pet escapes or becomes injured or sick, have a plan in place. Make sure you know the number/location of the closest 24hr vet to you and have a designated driver who can take them in if necessary.

In many neighborhoods, the unsuspecting popping sounds of fireworks are already happening (sometimes it feels like they never stop). And even if the local municipalities have cancelled their big fireworks display, this does not mean they will stop in your neighborhood.

Meet Showtime!

A border collie mix, this young, active boy under 2 years old came to us as a stray last July. He’s now been at the shelter 302 days & sadly next week will be his 10 month shelter-versary.

Showtime is a volunteer favourite & while at the shelter has proven himself to be human & dog friendly happily playing & cuddling with volunteers & being one of our core playgroup dogs in our “active, paws-on playstyle” dog division. 😁 This young pup would be thrilled to be your exercise companion & adventure buddy, then snuggle up next to you for movie night. Couch potatoes need not apply as this smart, athletic boy will need regular exercise & mental stimulation to thrive. We bet he’d excel at agility & would be eager to learn more skills & any tricks you’d like to teach him. He’s been at the shelter dreaming of his forever home for far too long. Can you help us find his happily ever after?

Find a Friend Friday is back and today we’re featuring Audry!

Having been at the shelter since September, Audry is currently the longest stay cat is caring for. She is a 7 year old treasure who has many quirks and charms just waiting to be discovered by her new family. One quirk she will quickly teach you is that Audry only accepts head scratches over full-body cuddles; however, she is open to bribery!

Audry prefers the quiet life at this point, so homes 🏠 without kids or kittens 🐱 are requested from this stoic beauty.

Make a Friend Monday is what we’re doing today!

Meet Ruby Tuesday, a 5 year old kitty looking for her fur-ever home 🏡 as she is not a fan of shelter life. However, Ruby Tuesdays has been fortunate enough to join Catio Crew and now gets to spend some quality time seeking out attention (and treats) from volunteers, lounging in the sun, and is able to peacefully hang out around other cats.

Find a Friend Friday is back!!

Adora ( ) is simply Adora-ble! This lovely 2-year-old girl has the most beautiful deep chocolate fur & is a compact 50 pounds. We’re not exactly sure what her breed mix but do have a DNA test pending - comment your guesses below!

Adora is a very happy girl, greeting everyone she meets with a big smile & a tail wag. She’s active, enjoying walks & playtime. She’s treat motivated & takes them very gently. She’s been nonreactive to other dogs while at the shelter, but based on her prey-drive with squirrels we’d recommend a home with no cats. This great gal came to us as a stray last July & she’s one of our many beloved long stay dogs that’s hard to believe hasn’t found a forever home yet.

The shelter remains at over-capacity and the staff & volunteers are truly working tirelessly to avoid euthanasia whenever possible, but WE NEED YOUR HELP.

Friday marks Monica’s 20th anniversary with 🥳 The staff got together to sign a big card, decorated with her favorite soft drink ( ), shared in her favorite snack ( ), and put together a custom puzzle showcasing the friends and family she has worked with over the past 20 years 🧩❤️

If you come or call in over the next couple days, please make sure Monica knows she is appreciated by you all as well 🤗
