Dr. Erin McNally grew up on Long Island, and attended Colgate University for her undergraduate degree. She spent a semester abroad in Australia, and then later researched the interactions of wolves, coyotes and squirrels in the Upper Peninsula of Michigan.

After graduating, Dr. McNally spent four years conducting research at the Gastroenterology and Hepatology department of Weill Cornell Medicine. During this time, she published five papers on colon cancer, including one which made the cover of Cancer Prevention Research. She simultaneously completed her remaining pre-veterinary coursework at Columbia University.

Dr. McNally obtained her doctorate from Cornell University’s College of Veterinary Medicine, where she received the Ettinger Incentive Award after her second year. During this time, she was an extern veterinarian at both a spay / neuter clinic and an emergency hospital, and worked summers at a general practice on Long Island. She currently maintains an interest in small animal general practice, emergency medicine, and surgery, and lives in Long Island City with imminent plans to adopt a shelter dog.

Gold Coast Center for Veterinary Care - Specialists in Veterinary Medicine Is excited to announce that Dr. Megan Petroff will be joining the family & providing Behavioral Medicine to the pets of Long Island.

Dr. Megan Petroff completed her undergraduate studies and Doctorate of Veterinary Medicine at the University of Florida in Gainesville, finishing veterinary school in 2015.
Dr. Petroff became a small animal general practitioner in South Florida for 5 years. She received the Young Veterinarian Award in 2019 from the American Association of Feline Practitioners for her excellence and dedication in treating cats. She became Fear Free Elite certified, which taught her how to provide an especially low stress experience for patients.

She realized was her true calling when in general practice as the cases that made other doctors groan, like cats eliminating out of their boxes or aggressive dogs, were her favorite cases every day. She went on to perform a clinical behavioral medicine residency at the Florida Veterinary Behavior Service, completing her 3-year residency in December of 2022.
