If a veterinary office does not take you because you do not have records, I personally would question their ethics.
Basically, you are a new client whether you are local or visiting from another state.
We never questioned nor turned someone away due to lack of records.
That's a behind the scenes catch-up in any respectable office.
Life happens.
A veterinarian & your personal medical doctor are basically the same.
We, as humans, have hairless newbies requiring a pediatrician. For the most part, we have "fur babies" which require veterinarians. Neither communicate.
Us parents, regardless of species, still play the guessing game when visiting the doctor. Sometimes, that goes for us as adults seeing the doctors.
Veterinarians need to understand a multitude of physiologies. A human doctor, only 1.
I've changed doctors/networks, traveled out of the USA, my med records were not always available.
Change was never an issue nor records.
If a veterinary office demands previous records or no treatment, I'd certainly ask why or find a different office.
We've multiple pets that travel with us over the years through the 48's and have flown multiple times.
They have gone to various veterinary hospital/clinics besides ours throughout our travels.
I've never heard of this at all!
Even if vaccinations were in question.
Only the airlines question vaccines requirements & perhaps health certificates.
1st and foremost is the health of the pet regardless of where.
