Reed had quite the day, started off in his dog blind picking up ducks, then moving to the fields and grabbing a couple pheasants. I think he's one happy dude.

While we didn't have a whole lot of participation in the upper stakes this year for our club's annual gun dog test, I'm still proud of the teamwork accomplished today by this trio! Waylyn brought home first place and Reed 2nd. This means now both of their names will be on the trophy 🙂 and it sounds like everyone had a fun day which is the whole point! Way earned chickie nuggies for the chickie nuggies 😆😆

Just over 2 weeks and Oly has gotten through formal obedience, cc, ff, and onto real birds. We'll be in the field this week!

We are very excited to announce the breeding of our MHR HR Ruff and Rowdy days Waylyn to HRCH UH Rhumbline's As Sure As The Tide MH (Asa). Puppies are expected 9/5 & approximate go home date of 11/2. We will begin taking deposits when pregnancy is confirmed around 8/2. A training rebate will be offered to buyers who bring their puppy back to GUDT for training. We are located in NJ.

Waylyn is 50 lbs and the perfect size for riding in a boat to get some ducks or fitting into tight spaces for upland birds, but she's also perfectly capable of retrieving geese as well! We are very proud of her success in both the hunting and hunt test worlds. She received 3/4 of her Master Hunting Retriever title passes at just 2 years old. She also has 4 Finished passes in HRC under her belt, earning her the HR title. We will continue her journey in HRC in 2025 with plans to achieve her HRCH title and hopefully her GRHRCH in the next few years as well. She's been hunting in almost every situation for the past 3 years and picked up hundreds of birds. From hunting wild pheasant in the Dakota's, duck hunting in the Jersey marsh, geese hunting in corn fields, and working tower shoots; this little firecracker has done it all!

She is also an amazing pet with a great on/off switch; just happy to sit and snuggle with you when she's not working. She loves all people and animals and is our welcoming committee to everyone that visits us from children to seniors and puppies and animals of all sizes. She has a very sweet disposition and will make anyone happy to spend time with her.

Asa earned his AKC Master Hunter title at just 24 months and qualified for the Master National 2 weeks later. He achieved his HRC Hunting Retriever Championship at 20 months and the Upland Title at 14 months. At only 3 yrs old he now has 9 Master passes and over 300 HRC points. Completely amateur trained and handled, Asa is biddable and an extremely fast learner, giving 100% effort. Asa has been outstanding in the field; retrieving waterfowl and working as an upland guide dog at a private sporting club. Between hunting, tower shoots and guiding he has flushed and retrieved hundreds of ducks and pheasant. A gentleman at home, clean and affectionate, he is an excellent family dog as he is a tough competitor and outstanding hunting companion. At 72 lbs he is capable of handling the toughest of conditions but is still small enough to be manageable on a duck boat. And he’s an absolute rocket in a pheasant field, hunting close, flushing hard and always reliable retrieving. Truly an all purpose Labrador.

Waylyn got mail today! She officially has her HR title in HRC from her 4 finished passes with Ron. I am very proud and grateful for the work they did and accomplished together. I'm determined to be her handler for the last 3 passes for her HRCH title though!

Waylyn and Ron went to a HRC test in CT this weekend and while both the test and judging were both very challenging it just made today's pass even sweeter! They also got to enjoy time with Waylyn's grandparents and made some new friends in the HRC community.

Last year I asked Ron to run Waylyn for me in HRC finished because I wanted to get her another title but I didn't feel comfortable running in a new venue just yet. They got their first pass last fall and trained hard this spring to prepare for this weekend's test. They came away with 2 passes! I'm so proud of them and so grateful to have a partner that helps me reach my goals! Maybe it will be me handling her to the finish line!

PS: I already told you she's just not that photogenic.

When we're lucky enough to have amazing photographers in our club, we get great pictures to take home from our training days! I can't do anything about Waylyn's lack of photogenic abilities though...

Only a week into working on water blinds with Dixie and she's already running cold blinds. A strong foundation on land blinds and casting makes the transition much smoother!

When you're pushing 70 in dog years but shenanigans keep you young

Dixie's first session with force to pile without a bucket/marker and small orange bumpers, I'd say this was a success!

Sure size matters, but bigger isn't always better 😉😄 Waylyn fits in tight spaces perfectly!

Kevin, a 6 month old lab, working on hold conditioning only hours after starting this step! Who's been through force fetch and jealous of Kevin's progress?? Haha!

We met Maggie and her dad for a chukkar/pheasant hunt. It's very rewarding to be part of a dogs first hunt. Watching them do what we trained them to do. We love how happy the humans are with the end result. We wish John and Maggie many years of fun and success together!
