Dr. Margaret Garcia obtained her DVM degree from Colorado State University and has practiced for over 20 years. Most recently, she was the Supervising Veterinarian for NOCO Humane Society.

She brings a wealth of surgical experience, including spay/neuter, specialty soft-tissue procedures, as well as limb and tail amputations. Aside from surgery, one of her other biggest passions is palliative care and providing relief from pain and other symptoms of serious illness.

Dr. Garcia has spent the last 10 years helping the community by doing the tireless and never-ending work of being a “Shelter Medicine” veterinarian, and now she is excited to be able to start down a new path of helping pets and their owners in a general practice setting here at Clover Basin Animal Hospital. We are thankful to have her as a part of our team!

Avoid handling the animal, as improper care can cause more harm than good. Wildlife rehab experts have the knowledge and resources to provide the necessary medical treatment and care to give these animals the best chance at recovery and release back into the wild. For help, call Animal Control, or contact Greenwood Wildlife Rehabilitation Center for expert care and rehabilitation, located on Highway 66 between Longmont and Lyons, CO. Remember, keeping wildlife safe is a shared responsibility!

International Corgi Day, created by the Omaha Corgi Crew in 2011, celebrates these adorable & loving dogs. Originally a local event, it has grown to support corgi care, adoption, and responsible rehoming nationwide. Dr. Amie Gilbert obtained her DVM degree from Louisiana State University. She also holds a Bachelor of Science in Cell and Molecular Biology. Prior to joining Clover Basin Animal Hospital, Dr. Gilbert had been working as an emergency veterinarian, and realized that she was missing out on building lasting connections with her patients and clients.

Dr. Gilbert believes that animals teach us so much about love and trust, and it was the human-animal bond that drew her to veterinary medicine in the first place. Urgent care, critical care, and internal medicine are just a few of her passions.

Dr. Gilbert has been with us since late 2021. She decided to join CBAH after meeting with the staff and being convinced that CBAH is committed to providing excellent, compassionate medicine with a patient-first mentality. Thank you for all you do Dr. Gilbert!

Huge thank you to Dr. Bové, Rachyl, and the entire MOVES team for taking great care of our beloved Sy!

Board Certified Cardiologist Dr. Christina Bové and her assistant, Rachyl, were invited into Clover Basin Animal Hospital for the first time to perform an echocardiogram on a very special patient: Sy, the beloved Border Collie and defender against UPS and FedEx deliveries! 📦🐾

Sy holds a crucial role in ensuring that every package is thoroughly inspected and approved before it reaches its destination. Dr. Bové was happy to participate in his care, helping to keep him in tip-top shape for his vital role. Sy deserves extra belly rubs and treats for being such a dedicated defender!

Heartworm Disease is a serious and potentially life-threatening disease. It is caused by worms (heartworms) that live in the heart, lungs, and blood vessels. All dogs should be tested annually for heartworm infection, this can usually be done during a routine visit for preventive care.

Heartworm prevention is highly effective, and it is recommended that all dogs are on year-round prevention. Most heartworm prevention also offers broad-spectrum intestinal parasite prevention, as well!

If your dog has missed more than one month of heartworm prevention, contact your veterinarian and restart prevention medications.

Anxiety in dogs can manifest in various ways: pacing, panting, trembling, excessive barking, or even withdrawal. It might be triggered by separation from their beloved humans, loud noises like thunderstorms or fireworks, changes in routine, or unfamiliar environments.

But fear not, fellow pet parents! There are plenty of ways we can help our precious pups feel more at ease:

🐾Understanding: Educate yourself about the signs and triggers of anxiety in dogs. The more you know, the better equipped you'll be to support your furry friend.

🐾Patience and Empathy: Remember, your dog's anxiety is not a behavior problem; it's a genuine emotional response. Approach them with patience, empathy, and reassurance.

🐾Create a Safe Space: Designate a quiet, cozy area where your dog can retreat when feeling overwhelmed. Fill it with their favorite toys, blankets, and maybe even an item of your clothing for comfort.

🐾Regular Exercise: A tired dog is a happy dog! Ensure your pup gets plenty of physical activity to burn off excess energy and reduce stress.

🐾Positive Reinforcement: Use positive reinforcement techniques to build your dog's confidence and create positive associations with anxiety triggers.

"I hate going to the doctor, mostly because I get scared. The doctor is always really thorough, which is low key annoying to me but mom says she has to so she can be sure I'm healthy or whatever, and she seems to appreciate her thoroughness so I guess it's fine. The people here are pretty nice and really listen when I express my discontent with restraint. They usually get me in and out pretty quick too, which I really appreciate! I guess if I have to go to the doctor, I'd prefer coming here over somewhere else."
