Just a heads-up folks:
Colorado is on the verge of banning puppies and kittens under 12 weeks of age from entering our state, starting in just a few short months.
What does this mean? It means rescues and shelters will no longer be allowed to bring young animals into our adoption programs from other states, where euthanasia is three likely future.
Almost every rescue and shelter in Colorado brings animals in from other states, (for years now!!) as we have such an amazing, pet friendly community here.
Thousands of animals from overcrowded shelters in often underprivileged and underserved communities in surrounding states, rely heavily on the support and assistance of Colorado rescue organizations and adopters.
Such a regulatory change will have a tremendous impact in our rescue and adoptive community here in Colorado.
Thousands of our most fragile and at risk animals will have nowhere to go.
Nursing moms with litters, young litters without moms, all kittens and puppies under just 12 weeks of age will face likely euthanasia without the assistance of Colorado rescues and shelters.
Already overcrowded shelters will see even more overcrowding, more disease outbreaks, and thousands of young and otherwise healthy animals will be needlessly euthanized. This isn't the Colorado we used to know, a place that was once a safe haven for animals in need.
Please reach out to your representatives and PACFA and let them know this is not ok.
Governor Jared Polis please reconsider this death sentence for so many innocent lives
