We recently posted the Mendota Pet slip leads we have for sale, so wanted to show you a few tips for a proper fit! 🐾High and snug avoids pressure directly on the trachea. 🐾Putting it on correctly allows for a smooth release of tension. But don’t stress about the P or 9 shape if you need to leash your dog quickly or move them to your other side briefly! ❌Never tie your dog out or leave them unsupervised with on a slip lead on. Any collar can be a choking hazard if it gets caught on something. ⭐️Reach out to a trainer if you need help with leash walking. Peak K-9 Dog Training is great and holds her group classes here at WP!

Spring in #Colorado is mud season! While we do bring in fresh gravel to minimize muddy yards, sometimes the snowmelt happens a little too quickly. A little dirt just means your pup had a great day playing outside, but we know it can be annoying after a long day of work! That’s why we offer quick rinses in addition to our full service grooming. Ask the front desk *at drop off* about a rinse before pickup if that’s something you’d like done! 🐾 We also don’t encourage jumping or any behaviors that will negate an owner’s training… but when you’re in a yard with happy, playful dogs immediately after the snow melted, mud happens! We can’t help but laugh in these moments 😂

Here’s an inside look at where your kitty will spend time boarding at Whispering Pines! Our cat suites are separate from the dog friendly areas to keep stress to a minimum. Cats receive plenty of attention and maid service from our staff to ensure a clean, cozy space at all times. Our spacious, multi-level suites give your cat plenty of space to stretch out and play! We can provide bedding and toys or you can bring yours from home. We look forward to giving your cats the care they deserve next time you’re away!

We talked daycare yesterday, so let’s talk boarding today! One MAJOR perk of boarding at Whispering Pines is our large indoor/outdoor kennels. While dogs do spend plenty of time in the larger yards during the day, any time they’re taking a break, all dogs get their own large outdoor runs attached to indoor climate controlled kennels. After 10pm, dogs are kept cozy in the indoor portion of their “bedrooms,” so they can rest comfortably after a day of play! Cots, beds or blankets are available through us or you can bring your own from home. Bedding and kennels are washed daily while they’re out playing in the yards!

What does daycare look like at Whispering Pines? Tons of space to run and play, small groups of friends that are the right fit for them, shaded areas to lounge, and pools to splash in when the weather is nice! And most importantly, lots of supervision and love from people who take the time to really know your dogs!

Not all dogs want affection, and we fully respect that! However, *some* dogs, like Luna here, really thrive with people under the right circumstances. She loves other dogs, but people make her nervous. Over time, she learned that our people will respect her boundaries AND give her access to dog friends. Now she actually seeks out affection from our staff because they mean good things for her. We love to see nervous dogs come out of their shells! We pride ourselves on getting to know the needs of each dog in our care, so we can give them what they need to be happy here!
