So, being the barrel race got canceled for tommorow night, I decided to cruise a couple through here, today. This is 3 year old Shiner, learning to add speed, learning to come through the gate and getting consistent in his footwork. I was very happy with him today, I love when their runs look the same as they progress along, his two go throughs today are very similar 😊

So, I was so excited. As a sponsored rider, for Nature's Rein, I have been recommending it to people. The tincture is wonderful for helping calm your horse , before runs, without taking away the run. The saying, it takes a village, is 100% accurate. Norma Jean wants to have the heart of a dragon. I see it imerging, it’s waiting. She is the horse plagued, time and again, by something . From having one copy of PSSM1, which, I now know and have managed, to respiratory issues, now managed, to a huge neck abscess, to soreness from the prior tieing up. I think we are good, finally🤞. I can’t thank my team enough. Nigel Miller is a huge part of things around here, a 100% thorough and caring vet, we are blessed to have him close. Jenn Evans, a great body worker, hands down, awesomeness. Then, there is Nature's Rein, again, another blessing. I would buy their product, even if not sponsored. Their tincture has allowed Norma to run confidently, without anxiety, or losing her run. This was only her second entry and she cut off a 1/2 second from prior run. Bear with me……..Trainer’s thoughts. I’m a small trainer, I take no more than six outside horses, so I can ride my own. But, I treat outside horses, as my own. They aren’t just a number or paycheck. I try my hardest to get the best out of each horse and send home a quality product. Sometimes, a lot of times , this comes with weeding out some physical and emotional issues. It’s kind of a running joke around here that it’s Bernice’s rehab center too. Well, once again, i have to send a mare home. She has been this lady’s hopes and dreams. The mare is five this year, I’ve had her since August. We wanted to futurity her. She had been through three other trainers , on her journey before here. C**t starter, reining work and a couple months with a very well known barrel trainer. The sad reality , is , no one cared, that she didn’t gain weight, has poor muscling, is chronically sore through the back and SI. She flings her head around in a weird way , even when not ridden. It’s been goin on awhile. My first sign, was she couldn’t use her rear end well and swings it around and climbs and is forward. She was very nervous and bothered by barrels. We started vetting and then time off and then, full blood panels. She has EPM . Her owner is waiting to see, how they want to proceed. This is the second horse , that I’ve had, that another well known barrel trainer had, that also had to go home. That one had some severe injuries , that were discovered later, that were most likely career ending. I’m not here to badmouth anyone, just as a voice, for the horse. Just because someone is well known, doesn’t mean it’s the right fit for your horse. When trainers stop caring and ride a ton of horses and start just processing them through, the horses suffer. The superstars and naturals make it, but, what about the others? I’m not saying all well known trainers are like this, but, some are. Others are great. The average horse, slips through the cracks. All I’m saying is, listen to the horse, go watch your horse, know when something ain’t right. I’ve been blessed with great clients and my heart hurts for this lady. She cares and only wanted the best for her horse. Unfortunately , no one said a word, just went through the motions. I’m praying, she can treat her and help the mare at least be able to lead a productive and comfortable life. We are the keepers of these beautiful animals, they talk, we only need to listen.

Update on my man, 3 yr old Dash. I just started adding speed, about 6 weeks ago. I’ve been working on some lumbar soreness with him also. I test drove him today, to see what I got . I’ve been trying to convince him to turn at the hip and keep driving, that’s my style . He did pretty darn good , was in wrong lead to third, but, he was able to make a quick adjustment, for the turn. I will do some other drills, to clean that up and strengthen him.
