TRAIL SHOW THIS SUNDAY AT THE COWLITZ FAIRGROUNDS

We will do a Q&A on foot and judges walk through at 9AM
You can enter the day of the show!!

CALLING ALL YOUTH COMPETITORS, we don't have any youth entries at this show yet! We know a lot of you like to wait to enter until the day of.

What to expect if you've never been? A "mountain trail" course in the indoor arena, laid back show experience, and great times & awards! We do have stalls available.

ALL of the buckles are here! Last minute extra awards arrived, and I’m packing the rig for tomorrow morning! Come check in at the office upstairs for your back # and to confirm your entry.

We will be drawing from Saturday entries at NOON tomorrow for a Hotwire Mohair halter and entries from all 3 shows NOON Sunday for the Corriente Barrel Saddle (must be present for all awards, we will not be mailing them)

We have extra staff on hand this weekend to help calculate high points as we go!

Only one divisional high point per horse/rider team, I encourage riders to check out standings since we have some cross entries you may be placed higher than you think. We do have overall grand champion and res, as well as top 10 for our wonderful cross entering riders so they get extra goodies in addition to their highest divisional placing.

One thing not often talked about is that when you are learning the progression is not always a straight upwards trajectory. Sometimes we can feel like we’re plateauing and all of the sudden AHA it all comes together. The important thing is to keep showing up and keep your self talk and thoughts about your horse positive. Learning through play! Working on proper fundamentals lies at the core of our program, but children often learn to implement balance through play. We loved Instructor Samantha’s pool noodle games yesterday.

We often get asked if our lessons are suitable for all levels of riders, and the answer is yes! We have spectacular beginner and advanced instruction at Strides.

Longview WA Riding School Foal Update

We’re looking forward to giving our students the experience of raising some baby horses this year. Enjoy this video of rescue horse “Irish” sunning herself. We didn’t know Irish was pregnant when she came to us, so we do not know her due date. We will have 3 foals born this year and can’t wait to share all of the adorable foal photos and videos! We do plan to have some open houses late in the summer where the public can come meet the babies.
