February is National Pet Dental Health Month and we are here to celebrate! 🎊

Studies have shown that a healthy mouth can actually add years to your pet’s life. 80% of dogs and 70% of cats will have some form of dental disease before they turn three! Dental problems don’t just affect the mouth, either. Dental disease can have adverse effects on the heart, kidneys, and other major organs. By performing routine cleanings before there are significant problems, we help our pets stay healthier longer. Don’t turn your nose to that bad breath! That odor might signify a serious health risk, with the potential to damage not only your pet’s teeth and gums but its internal organs as well.

We are offering 10% off dental services in the month of February. Pre-anesthetic bloodwork is required. This discount extends to dental x-rays, dental sealant, extractions and the bloodwork. Update: Amos has a new family! Thank you to everyone who offered to help and to his adoptive family!! ♥️♥️

Amos is looking for a new home! 🏡

Amos is a 5 and 1/2 year old Rhodesian Ridgeback mix who weighs about 120 lbs. His family has recently broken up and, although they tried to keep him, most apartments won’t accept him because of his breed and size (and he’s not really meant for apartment living anyway). He is being fostered by an older gentleman who is going through hard times and currently doesn’t have electricity, but assures us that Amos is being fed, walked and loved. He grew up with other dogs, cats and children and is well-behaved.

If you’re wondering why you haven’t seen Dr. Trompeta around the clinic in the last few weeks, it’s because she is working at her new “home” clinic…! Read below 👇

We are excited to announce that Dr. T, Dr. Farrell and Dr. P have partnered to acquire a new/pre-existing clinic that will be led by Dr. T and her amazing practice manager, Kristine. Currently it is known as 434 Animal Hospital, but will soon have a new name (stay tuned!), and is located at 212 E SR 434 in Longwood.

We are proud to say that we remain one of the very few privately-owned veterinary clinics in the area and have no plans on that changing.

It is worth noting that Dr. Farrell remains full-time here at Animal Clinic of Wekiva…and will be here until he retires!

While Dr. T is full-time at her new hospital, she will continue to work closely with our team at Wekiva, and you might still see her from time to time. Please help us in congratulating Dr. T on making a dream come true! It was also her birthday recently, so double congratulations are in order! ♥️🐾

This cute 4 month old baby girl named Violet needs a home! A Good Samaritan rescued her from a car engine and has gotten her vaccinated and all taken care of. She has tested negative for feline leukemia, FIV and intestinal parasites. She is currently living with 4 other cats and a big dog and gets along really well with all of them. She has a very calm, sweet disposition and her foster family wants her to go to a good, loving home! 🏠 Please comment below if you’re interested and we will put you in touch with them! 💜

This week is PAW - Pet Appreciation Week! PAW was created to create awareness of the importance of pets in our lives and to appreciate our pets for everything they do to enrich our lives. Remember that we are our pets’ whole world. There is nothing they love more than spending time with their special people! Ways to show your pet some appreciation: 🐾 Teach your dog a new trick 🐾 Extend your normal exercise time 🐾 Make sure the treat jar is full 🐾 Play some music for your pet 🐾 Spend extra quality time while watching your favorite sport (ex: ⬇️ Ace, not amused by tennis) 🥱

The power of microchips! Checkers was reunited with her family after having gone missing 2 months ago. She was brought in by a Good Samaritan who was ready to adopt her and take care of her, until we found she had a microchip and were able to link her to her rightful owner. As you can see, Checkers was more than happy to see her family again. We love happy endings…and Good Samaritans! 🙏

Rue’s morning routine…volume up for full effect! 😸

📣 Holiday hours: We will be closed on Saturday, Dec 24 (Christmas Eve) and Saturday, Dec 31 (New Year’s Eve) in addition to our regular Sundays so that our staff can spend time with their families this holiday. Not to mention, it will be the coldest Christmas in Central Florida in our lifetimes so who wants to go outside anyway?! Stay warm!🔥 Don’t forget to give us a call next week and stop by for your pet’s meds, especially those that get scared/stressed by the fireworks! ❤️💚❤️💚❤️💚❤️💚❤️💚❤️💚❤️💚❤️
