🌟 Join the Martin County 4-H Horse & Pony Club Mentorship Program for Grades 3–12 Youth! 🌟

Are you passionate about horses and love helping others learn?
Or maybe you’re interested in horses but don’t have your own?
Are you eager to grow, gain confidence, and build new skills?
Do you want to get involved with horses but just haven’t found the right place to start?

If so, the Martin County 4-H Horse & Pony Mentorship Program is the perfect fit for you! 🐴💚

We’re looking for both mentors and mentees who want to make a positive impact, build friendships, and strengthen our local horse community.

✨ Mentors:

• Enjoy teaching and helping others
• Show patience, leadership, and a willingness to share knowledge
• Want to support newer or younger riders
• Are enrolled 4-H members
• Are signed up for the 4-H Horse & Pony Club

✨ Mentees:

• Want to learn, grow, and improve their horsemanship
• Are excited to be part of a supportive club
• Can participate in a specific mentorship class at the Martin County 4-H Fair
• Are enrolled 4-H members
• Are signed up for the 4-H Horse & Pony Club

We are currently in full swing for our Ride-On Funding drive.

We are fortunate to have a beautiful 4-H Fairgrounds, a large riding arena, and a stall barn. These facilities provide a safe and supportive space for youth to practice, network, and even stall their horses during the 4-H fair week.

Thanks to the generosity of prior contributors, we accomplished several major improvements in the past few years and have more planned.

To make these upgrades possible, we are asking for your support through cash or check donations. If you prefer to contribute items, we’re happy to discuss specific needs vital to our program’s success. No donation is too small—every contribution truly makes a difference.

Congratulations Kimber (junior high point), Ivy (intermediate/senior high point), and Phoebe (awesome attitude).

The high point awards are based on the accumulated points obtained in the 2024-2025 fair Horse and Pony events. The awesome attitude award is voted on by the H&P leaders for the member that showed the best attitude.

One form per rider. Please be sure to use the correct horse's name for each show so points will total correctly. Please be sure if you're showing multiple horses to keep each horse's classes separated.

Don’t forget, Dubois is hosting the first of their two spooky series shows next weekend!

Fall Spooky Series is coming up! We have our judges lined out and will be updating and posting the online signup by tomorrow at the latest.

SPRING BUCKLE SERIES UPDATE: We're looking to hire a 2nd judge for one of these fall shows (preferably the September show). The 2nd judge would be judging along the main judge. We would use #2 judges' placings as a replacement for the spring show we had to cancel due to rain. We understand that it may seem daunting to judge under 2 judges at once but it gets all of our shows in and keeps all of the points as fair as possible without going down to 2 shows for the Spring series or trying to find yet another day and judge that works with everyone this fall.

Great job today to all the kids! 2025 fair is now done.

Shout out to our judge, Holly, our announcer, Rhonda, and everyone else who helped make this year happen. Could not do it without our supportive parents and community.

Are you ready for some excitement? Join us tomorrow at 1pm for the Martin County 4-H Horse and Pony contesting (flags, poles, keyhole, and speed and action). (This is our makeup from being rained out at fair.)

Warm-up riding for the kids from 11-12:30.

Light concessions will be available: $3 soda/gatorade, $1 water, and $0.75 chips.

Martin County’s Ivy and Gracie competed at Indiana State 4-H in the Horse and Pony contesting show over Aug 5-6. They placed in 4 of the 5 events!

Couldn’t be more impressed with the experience and the sportsmanship exhibited by all the contestants. It was such a great experience that we are already planning next year with hopefully a few more members of the Martin County Horse and Pony Club going to represent!
