Our zoo has closed. Thanks to all our guests for their past patronage. We are only open in the spring and summer for scheduled field trips and private parties.

Permanently closed.

Beyond the Barn is open in the fall each weekend from the Saturday after Labor Day until the end of October.

Don’t forget, you can still stop in here at Roadside Gardens this fall to pick up your mums and pumpkins from our roadside stand! (That will be all we have available - the store and zoo are closed.) We plan to have everything ready to go around Sept. 14th.

After much discussion and thought, we have decided that Beyond the Barn will not be reopening. Thank you to all of our employees, and to everyone that visited our zoo.

We haven’t yet decided what the future might hold, but the zoo as you have known it will no longer be open.

With the exception of the animals, the rest of the park/farm will still be available to those staying at the Herman’s House at Westphalia Trading Co.

Our 2023 season is over, but we would be remiss if we did not thank all of the young men and women who worked for us every weekend - and more - to make what we offer possible.

Our area is blessed to have such reliable, intelligent, respectful and hard working young people. We had youth from Fatima, Linn, Blair Oaks, Helias and a homeschooler working for us this year. We even have a couple young ladies who are in college that have worked for us for years and keep coming back to help. We look at all of them and feel like there is hope for the future.

Thank you all for being flexible, cleaning up, showing up early, staying late, doing what we asked, and going above and beyond.

Special thanks to Macy Richter, our go-to, can-do gal.

👻 Kids can come in costume - but be sure they can still play and move around easily!
🎃 Our extra Halloween games are ready! (Pumpkin Toss, Witch Hat Ring Toss and our Booooooo Bubbles table, plus parachute games!)
🏅The prize box is ready!
🍭The candy is ready for everyone 10 years old and under to Trick or Treat on their way out!
🍩 Pumpkin donuts will be made fresh in the morning!
🍨Try one of our Spooktacular Sundaes! (Vanilla ice cream, pumpkin donut, caramel sauce, pecans, whipped topping and a cherry.)
🚙 Please carpool to our farm if possible - parking is limited.
🤡 Face Painters from Just B Clowning Around will be here from 1 PM to 3 PM
🐐🚂All of our regular farm fun animals and activities will be open and are included with admission - bounce pad, barrel train, playgrounds, playhouses, corn pit, wagon rides to the pumpkin patch and so much more! 🦆🐓🚜

It’s National Farmer Day! Cheers to our favorite farmer - Farmer Bryan! Bryan is the idea man, the blaze a new trail guy, the fixer-upper, the “I want the goats to be on the roof” dude, the plant the pumpkins, the cut the hay, the “how many animals can we get?” man.

When you visit us this month, be sure to say hello to Farmer Bryan! He will usually be driving the tractor with the wagon rides to the pumpkin patch!

Mums the word! Yes, we have big, beautiful mums for sale again this year - $12 each. We have lots of colors to pick from, and no, you do not need to pay admission to the petting zoo to purchase them. Here’s the catch though - we are not open Monday - Friday. Our store hours are Saturdays: 10 AM - 6 PM and Sundays: 11 AM - 5 PM.

Our apple donuts are ready! That means not only can you take some home to enjoy - you can also have a Macy’s Special Sundae at our Lucky Ducky Concession Stand. A Macy’s Sundae is two scoops of vanilla ice cream, and one of our fresh apple donuts, then topped with apple pie filling, caramel, pecans, whipped topping, and a cherry!

The crank machine is in place to crank the food up to the top of the tower!
