Beautiful things in a set of perpetually dirty hands โจ
Iโm finding quail surprisingly pleasant and easy to keep. Their tractor-style homes mean zero clean-up, and moving them takes all of 10 minutes a day.
They make only gentle noises and cause no damage to their surroundings. They donโt eat very much, yet are quite consistent layers of these lovely, little gems. A large dust bath and some hideaways inside their tractors are all they seem to require, outside of food and water.
For me, they involved a much smaller startup investment, overall, than chickens. Iโm sort of surprised that they arenโt kept by more people. Donโt get me wrong, Iโll never be without my chickens, but for folks where chickens are restricted, I think quail should be considered as a great, non-obtrusive alternative.
You will, however, be opening a much higher number of eggs for your morning breakfast when eating quail versus chicken eggsโI had 12 today! ๐
Is there anything you want to know about how I keep my quail?
