Bubbles is ready to play!

Say hello to Bubbles! She is a 12 week old boxer/pit possibly chihuahua mix. Her and her siblings are rambunctious, playful, friendly, and affectionate! They love attention, food, and toys. They get along great with dogs, kids and would probably be fine with dog friendly cats. They love to run around and be silly and goofy. Bubbles is one of the most playful of the bunch. She runs circles around her siblings. Nothing can stop this silly girl when she’s ready for fun!

This little family was living at the Bakersfield shelter for several weeks before they were able to come to us. Unfortunately, upon arrival we learned that they had Parvovirus, but were able to make a miraculous recovery in just a few short days! They are now healthy and happy and ready for their forever homes! These pups will likely only be around 40 lbs full grown. They can’t wait to meet you!

We’re almost at the finish line! And today is the beginning of our last big push to meet our fundraising goals and end this intake freeze. Today is the beginning of our $5,000 matching donation drive! Our sponsor/ rescue partner/ savior is the one and only !

We’ve had the pleasure of working with this rescue since before they were officially a rescue! Like many of us in this world, their founder saw first hand what was happening to the poor dogs around us, and knew she had to do something major to help. We shared a common goal of helping pregnant and nursing dogs, and orphaned puppies. Why? Probably cause we’re all saps who can’t turn away from a family in need.

Since Feb 2023, Pawsitive Beginnings has saved 285 dogs off euthanasia lists, 2 cats, 44 litters, dealt with open heart surgery, liver shut surgery, multiple MRIs, and sponsored countless spays and neuters for people who couldn’t afford them.

And that’s where we are coming together this time. The government is not even close to providing the amount of spays and neuters that SoCal needs (as evidenced by the thousands of dogs being surrendered every week). So rescues like ours are doing whatever we can to make sure as many dogs as possible can be fixed in California.

By providing up to $5,000 in matching donations, is working with us to plan a free spay and neuter day with for one of the most needy areas (we’re considering Kern, Riverside, etc).

Say hello to Polka! Polka and her siblings came to us from the Bakersfield shelter, where they were one of so many puppies being dumped every day. All of her siblings have since been adopted, but sweet Polka is still wait in patiently for her furever home.

Polka is a super sweet and goofy girl. She’s playful and always excited to sample a new toy or join in a game of tug of war. But when she gets sleepy, she looks for a lap or squishy bed to curl into. She can stay asleep in a lap for hours! She’s amazing with kids, dogs, and even cats!

We think Polka is about 6 months old, and is a cattle dog/ pitty/ chihuahua super mutt. She will likely be 40 pounds when full grown.

Guess what?! We are closer than ever to completing our 3 goals and ending this intake freeze! Let’s see how we’re doing…
Our first goal was to fundraise $30,000 to help maintain our operations, and put money aside for a free spay and neuter event with in one of the many high need areas in SoCal. We’re halfway there! At the end of this week we’ll be starting our matching donation drive with , where they will match up to $5000 in donations if raised before the end of August! WE LOVE THEM!

So far we have 4 of our longtime dogs getting adopted, WOW! Some of these dogs have waited over 2 years for a home. We couldn’t be happier for them!

And 3… we wanted at least 30 adoptions for the month of August. We’ve already hit 32 and we still have two weeks left till the month is over! Who thinks we can adopt out over 50 dogs 👀

Thank you so much for your support, and helping us find homes for these incredible dogs. We are so excited for the progress we’ve seen so far, and know there’s more good news to come 🙏

Meet the handsome and charming Stewart! This sweet pup escaped the Bakersfield shelter redlist, right before the 4th of July. We were only able to save him thanks to our incredible friends at Pawparazzi in Chatsworth. They took in a few dogs from rescues they trust, to keep them safe temporarily and avoid the mass euthanasia at shelters during the 4th.

Stewart is a perfect medium temperament pup. He is chill and easy going, happy to nap and hangout at home. But he’s also excited to run and play with his doggy friends! He’s great with other dogs and all people. He loves everyone he meets and just wants a family to call his own.

Please help Stewart find a furever home!

INFLUENCERS! We could use your help with a really daunting task… we are looking for a few influencers/ content creators/ magic social media wizards to volunteer their time to create reels for our dogs! Why? Because 3 of our longest available dogs (plus a few we haven’t even updated you on 👀) are possibly getting ADOPTED thanks to the mediocre reels I made for them last week!
As you can imagine, our time is always stretched between vet visits, adoption meetings, emergencies, etc. So it is hard for us to find the time to get these dogs exposure that they really need to find homes. Plus, we’re not social media experts. Can you imagine if someone who does this for a living could help promote these dogs?!

So if that’s you, message us! We would love your help to highlight a few of our dogs, and show the world what they have to offer :)

Ok. I’m officially fed up. We all are. We all HAVE BEEN for years. How long have rescues been fighting for the breeding permit moratorium? Rescues far more seasoned and established than ours have been fighting this fight since the 90’s. It just passed a few months ago, and do you know what happened? It was too late. The problem was exponentially worse than anyone could have imagined. And apparently is STILL not being enforced. How could anyone legally sell a puppy on one of these websites if they can’t legally purchase a breeders permit? It doesn’t make sense, yet here they are, selling puppies in LA on these sites! Can we guess how many are fixed or even vaccinated?
If we go to the city with this information, what do we think they’ll do? Even with the names, addresses, phone numbers, and actual ads saying “hey we’re selling puppies! We breed puppies!” They won’t even reply.

So I guess we’re here asking for help. Does anyone know:

1. Our lovely mayor who happens to make $750000 a year, but cant seem to figure out how to fix our shelters…or anyone who works closely with her?
2. Our super well qualified head of animal services (can’t be tagged, smart move on her part) or anyone who works closely with her? Also, does anyone know what her salary is? Should be easier to find…
3. Someone who can help get these horrible websites shut down? Including FACEBOOK which still has a ton of people selling puppies. Just scroll down past where it says dog bed or dog food and they tell you to message them to learn more with a damned winky face.

It’s not fair. And yes, “life isn’t fair.” We’re not even asking for fair at this point.
We’re asking for shelter conditions that are on par with a first world country.
We’re asking for spay and neuter laws and BREEDING PERMIT LAWS to simply be enforced, which would ACTUALLY SOLVE THIS PROBLEM.
We’re asking to show human kinds best friends, our most loyal and loving companions, a CHANCE at a future that doesn’t end in a cold, lonely, steel cage, surrounded by moldy water and their own f***s.

This has to stop. Our friends deserve better. We all do.

This is just a glimpse into the life of shelter dogs right now.

There is no rescue, or group of rescues, that can solve this.

There is not enough access to affordable spay and neuter services.

There is a problem of complacency from the thousands of people who throw their hands up and say “my dog is too hard, someone else will figure it out.” No one else can figure it out.

The only people who can SOLVE this problem are government officials. Policies have to be changed, and current policies MUST BE ENFORCED. Rescues and shelters are putting bandaids on bullet wounds and evacuating whoever we can fit. That’s it. We’re all barely scratching the surface, but spending 24 hours a day, seven hours a day just to do that. The problem is that severe.

Meet the cutest, least photogenic puppies! To all you Boys fans, HERE YOU GO!!! Soldier Boy, Frenchie and A-Train are here and ready for furever homes!
These poor pups came from a backyard breeding situation in Tijuana. A few of their siblings contracted parvo and sadly didn’t make it, but these babies were able to survive.

Why are they so hard to photograph? Because they WON’T STOP MOVING! Especially A-Train 😂 they are much more interesting in giving kisses and running in circles than posing or holding still.

So if you’re looking for some super tough survivors living inside the body of miniature poodle mixes, look no further! Adopt one of these super sweet super heroes and have a loyal friend for life 💜

And apologies to and that your puppies look like perms that came to life. We promise they’re sweet and awesome 😂

Join us for an incredibly special event in SoCal on 9/8 for a day of fun and fundraising! This event was created Kristi in honor of her best friend Karma, who passed away last year. Kristi created a fundraising event called Paddle for Pups to benefit our rescue, Pups Without Borders. We are so honored to be the recipients of such an incredible event, and hope you will join us in making it special.

Paddle for Pups is dedicated to bringing the community together for a day of fun on the beautiful waters of Marina del Rey. Our mission is to raise awareness and funds for the welfare and rescue of dogs in need, ensuring every pup has a chance at a happy and healthy life. Through this annual event, we strive to foster a spirit of kindness, compassion, and community involvement, making a tangible difference in the lives of our four-legged friends. All proceeds from the event will go to Pups Without Borders.

Say hello to Black Noir! We would like to apologize in advance for his blooper reel or pictures: these are literally the best ones we could take. He’s too playful to pose!
This hilarious boy was born at the Stanislaus shelter, where his mama Starlight had been dumped just days before. We were hoping Starlight could wait just one more day and give birth under our care, not alone in the scary shelter in the middle of the night. But Starlight was such a tough mama, she gave birth to nine babies all by herself. She even greeted kennel workers the next day, happily showing off her new puppies. The whole family came to us the next day.
Black Noir is all about having fun. He’s silly and playful and the life of the party! He LOVES toys, and the boxes they come in. Despite his love of chewing on things, he promises not to chew on your face. He somehow understands that people prefer licks to the face instead of bites. This boy will be an active sidekick that will join you on your adventures!

We think this litter are mixes of husky, Australian shepherd, and super mutt! Their dna test is at the lab, so we will know soon enough. Mama starlight is definitely a husky mix, and weighs about 40 pounds. We think the pups will be a similar size when full grown. As with all of our dogs, Pups Without Borders provides the first year of DAPP, Bordetella, rabies, microchip, spay/ neuter, etc.

This week felt ROUGH. The dogs always need us, we’re all spread too thin and the bills won’t stop coming. So let’s end this week right: with 20 random hilarious/ sweet pictures that remind us that everything will be ok (but yes sometimes things suck, but seriously it’ll be ok. It’s always ok eventually). Here are helpful descriptions of each slide:
