Dewey- your exceptional. Here is what your humans told me about you-
Reactive on walks and hyper focused and barking like mad with babies- small children- homeless people and a particular white husky that lives upstairs.

Finnegan!
Had fear of leaving the apartment.
We dropped that story-

We did not nurture his fear. Instead, we worked with him through it.
No easy fix - he needs the time, patience and commitment from his human guardians and he will be just fine. Not to mention the proper tools *learn to lead leash and leadership and used this amazing Jentle method

And we are moving…. This is Finnegan, a fearful pup who would not walk in his neighborhood, but we are not holding on to that story! So…once we established that we moved! I used a combination of pressure and release when he dug his paws in and sat down. I used the Jentle method to build confidence- leadership and energy- it takes time and patience to work with fear in a dog. We are not going to nurture that fear- just show Finnegan ways to work through it- don’t do this- do that! It took some time but he was out and about in his neighborhood and by the end of our session he was smiling and relaxed. His human guardians are willing to put in the work it will take. Dropping the story of fearful- walking forward- moving and building confidence. Using the correct leash as well and mastering the walk.

Hey Samantha it was so great training with you! I worked with your human guardian too and let her know that you were craving leadership and we showed her what that looked like! It was a game changer. Shout out to Mitchell for using the right tools with you and mastering the walk! We worked on Threshold- place- no talk- no touch - no eye contact when your human comes home and when she leaves. We talked about boundaries and relationships and the 3 great lessons we all need to practice with our dogs- exercise, discipline, and then affection.

Clayton and Belle- nice to work with you two today. Threw in some proper leashes and mastered the walk so you could let some of your energy out. Guided you into “place because you needed to know it was a good place to go to decompress and stop barking at everything you hear in your home. I worked equally with your human guardian too- and by the way- that’s why you will succeed. Energy+leadership+follow through= balanced dogs.

My pup Bowie passed away last week. She was a front of the pack gangster who scared all dogs big and small. She had a HUGE presence in my pack.
13 years ago a a guy that saw me with my pack asked me to take her- he couldn’t handle her and she kept getting passed around from home to home. I took her in and put her in my pack and let them help me with her and they did! She was a tough one though and I did not know as much as I do now with dog behavior training or she may have become a different dog. That’s okay because what I do know is she taught me how to have patience and that was something I always needed to work on so I am grateful to her (for so many things) but for helping me with that. Now there is Indy my other dog who is grieving for the loss of his BFF Bowie. I am careful not to put my emotions on him and to let Indy go through his own grieving process. I will however continue to work with him, train him, offer guidance and leadership to him and guide him into a super solid dog so that perhaps he can start to work with me helping other dogs and we will dedicate this to Bowie! We miss her- it’s a hard one. My heart is pretty heavy. Here’s to all the dogs that touch our lives- fill us up and make us feel so fortunate that we had such epic adventures and felt so much love because of them. 🐾❤️

Phoebe!

This is one smart pup! She knows exactly how to manipulate her human guardian and her fellow canine brother. I used a lot of leadership exercises with her. This type of dog needs a lot of boundaries. She felt like she was in charge of the pack. We worked a lot on threshold- box work- long line- crate train- place work. Even though each of these exercises are different, they all add up to a well balanced dog, teaching boundaries - pack drive- leadership. Phoebe needed to know that she doesn’t have to be in charge. Once we give dogs the power to take over they will!

My human client did so much work and was really dedicated to making the changes. I can train any dog, but if there is no follow through with the human then it simply does not work!

Meet Watson! He is an incredibly intelligent 2.5 year old Aussie Shepherd. He just needed some direction and guidance from his human guardians. He mastered the walk - mastered the threshold- and place! Way to go Watson. (We also worked with his 10 year old Chihuahua brother -he felt left out during the training so we guided him too) BTW, you can teach and give leadership to an older dog- !!!!)

This amazing boy is up for adoption. I assessed him today at at Centinela and Venice blvd. This is a courtesy post for the current fosters and I am shouting this out. The foster parents live in Mar Vista. They went on a walk with their dog a month ago and this pup followed them. He did not have a collar- they scanned him for a chip- no chip- he is about 1 -1/2 year old intact male. They put signs all over - blasted it out on social media and Nextdoor and no luck finding owners. This was probably a case of dumping a dog. Sad but happens quite often. This pup is amazing. Very even temperament- took to the leash perfectly- makes great eye contact- listens- no aggression towards other dogs. Pretty perfect if you ask me. I worked him on the leash- around other dogs- all over Centinela pet and feed- please share and DM me for fosters contact info- let’s get this handsome boy a forever home. 🙏🐾

It’s Indy’s “Gotcha day” It has been one year with this solid dude. I have never had a puppy before but when asked me to foster a 4 month old Parvo survivor from the vet in Anaheim I agreed! They found Indy and his four siblings living under a trailer in Big Bear. He and his sister survived and sadly the other 2 did not make it. I am what you would call a “foster fail” because here we are a year later! I worked hard with him practicing all the behavior training and leadership skills. I was also very fortunate to learn from the best and and all the other incredible behaviorist trainers who are putting out clear and precise messages and sharing their knowledge. I have the opportunity every day to work with Indy and to work on myself because so much about the relationship you have with your dog comes from you! Bowie is also so happy that she has a canine best friend! 🐾
