L.A. Love & Leashes is an adoption center dedicated to animals still living in L.A.'s city shelters. Those not adopted that day return to the shelter at night.

Love & Leashes is 100% dedicated to animals still living at L.A.'s six city animal shelters. All of the dogs and cats who come to us are still spending their nights in LA city animal shelters. Love & Leashes is a program of the volunteer-run, non-profit Friends of L.A. Animal Shelters.*

All of the amazing dogs and cats come each morning from our city shelters (Los Angeles Animal Services), gener

ously transported by the staff of the West LA shelter. We are supported solely by donations and we're very grateful for your support.

🚨ONI UPDATE🚨 We need your help!!!

Oni is not out of the woods yet. She is currently stable and is in an oxygen chamber receiving fluids. She’s not yet eating which is normal for this level of pneumonia.

We desperately need your help. She needs a foster to go to after she’s released, and we need funds to pay for her care. Currently the bill through tomorrow morning at 9am is estimated to be $7,018.03 - $7,518.03. That is only through tomorrow morning, and she is likely to stay more days.

🚨FOSTER AND FUNDS URGENTLY NEEDED🚨

Oni is currently at the ER, and we need a foster for when she is released so that she doesn’t have to go back to the shelter in this condition. She is currently resting at the ER and has oxygen and fluids as well awaiting further testing diagnostics.

Sweet Oni needs a home to successfully recover. She needs a foster with no other pets because of her illness. Please let us know if you can foster! We hope she can be released tomorrow.

🚨URGENT NEED FOR MEDICAL FUNDS🚨

For $5 Friday, can you find it in your heart to donate to Oni?

Our sweet girl Oni had to stay back at the shelter because of a URI and her condition is unfortunately getting worse. It turned into pneumonia, and she received fluids this morning. Today she is completely lethargic, but she still has the most precious heart and will wag her tail for you. She needs to get to the vet asap. An amazing volunteer will take her tomorrow, but we need to raise funds to cover it. Any amount is so helpful!

❤️Bounce is back❤️
We are more than thrilled, our actually 6 month old staffie mix is back with all the kisses and jumping around🍀 He is housebroken and has all the potential of a good leash walker! He just loves people so much that he wants to greet everyone. He also wants to play all day but as Bounce is still a baby, he needs some good long naps too in between🩷 He knows sit, paw and down, but down turns mostly into belly rubs☺️

🤗ADOPTION ALERT🤗
OSO found the sweetest family!! A grandfather with all the time, love and energy to give, he fell in love with him yesterday and we can see why! Likewise Oso ran to him the second time of the adoption process and sat next to him to make sure everything was filled in! Tonight his new forever owner will prepare him all the homemade dog meals and introduce this little one to his granddaughter and dog sitter neighbor and her senior dogs! 🐨❤️ xoxo

Our next new baby in town is our 1 year old poodle mix, Skipper! 🥰🎉🐶 This 14 pound pup came in as a stray without a microchip. So far, he has been walked with one other tiny dog and he was great - neutral at first, but the interactions were kept minimal, since they were both new. All signs pointed to them being friendly! Skipper was super scared around the barking when he was being carried through the kennels, but that’s not abnormal! We’re hopeful to see in a calmer environment he’ll be more social and open up!

IT’S TIME TO INTRODUCE OUR NEWBIES! This handsome 5 year old schnauzer mix is named Oso! He was found as a stray, so we don’t know much about his background. As far as who he is though? He’s our sweet and social boy! He is not reactive to dogs, loves his walks and gets so energetic, and seeks love from his human friends. He does have some separation anxiety, but we’re very hopeful once he’s in a home where he feels safe and on a routine, it will improve. 💗

✨Healthy Spot-Light!✨

We want to send another HUGE thank you to everyone who donated to Lani’s surgery! Look at her before and after photos — she even got a pup cup in celebration. In addition to private donations, we also received funding from Healthy Spot’s “round up” program, which helped complete our fundraising goal for sweet Lani.

Did you know that you have the option to “round up” your total bill at Healthy Spot, which means those round up cents go directly to nonprofits?! L.A. Love & Leashes had the benefit of being the December partner for this program. Donations like these seem so minimal on an individual basis, but during our partnership with Healthy Spot beginning 13 years ago, they’ve helped us pay for so many medical expenses, surgeries, treats, food, etc. for animals both in and outside of the Love & Leashes program.

As you may know, our storefront is next-door to a Healthy Spot at Westfield Century City, and they will even do free nail trims and grooms for us, especially for severely matted or flea infested pups 💛

ADOPTION ALERT 🚨‼️❤️⭐️ This is our handsome boy Ollie who is a 4 month Doberman pinscher He was unfortunately surrendered just a few days ago, but thankfully for him, he already found his forever family! He was previously being visited by them at the shelter where they formed an instant connection . 🥰😩When they heard the news that Ollie was in our program, they came as soon as possible to make sure our boy was going home with them! ⭐️🥲❤️💕 They even showed us all their adorable pictures of them giving hugs and kisses!! 🤗🩵🥰 We know Ollie is going to be so loved and spoiled!

🥳ADOPTION ALERT🥳 Bruno is going home!! His mothers were looking for a dog for awhile, and wanted to make sure at the absolute right time to adopt. When they saw his post, it was love at first sight for both! Bruno was absolutely excited when he was receiving love from them. When the came back after talking about it, Bruno rushed in their arms to give kisses and cuddles! He knew they were the ones for him. Lotions and creams to treat his alopecia have been bought and he can expect some beach walks too! Bruno sweetie, have a great life! You will only be given all the love you deserve!

If anyone had the pleasure in meeting Nora, then you can imagine how much her mom melted over her ❤️ Nora, true to being the shy girl she is, was hesitant at first and didn’t want to leave our staffs side. Her new mommy though was very patient and said “don’t worry, you have no idea the amazing life you’re gonna have” 🥰Nora is going into a nice quiet home with a backyard to run around in and will surely come out of her shell. 🎉ADOPTION ALERT #1🎉 It’s our Odie baby! And he is going to such an amazing home and to a new mommy who loves him so much! Odie’s new mom spent well over 2 hours with us to not only ask all the necessary questions about Odie and everything a new fur baby requires, but to really make sure that Odie felt just as comfortable and bonded with her 💕 After her appointment, she took some time to think about it and started setting up her apartment for his arrival! So cute! When she came back to pick him up, he was the happiest little guy ☺️ We are so happy that Odie didn’t have to spend much time in the shelter like so many do. He is such a funny and energetic pup and we’re so thrilled he’s found his furever family!

Next up, we have our beauty queen, WINTER! ❄️ Winter was recently surrendered to the shelter due to her not being potty trained & trying to eat her p**p. She does have some stains on her paws, and we can’t be too sure if it’s due to licking from allergies, or if she was having frequent accidents on herself 😕 As far as her temperament, Winter is such a gentle baby’ We have not seen any reactivity from her, and she regularly is seeking affection from us! She adores & is curious about little pups, with her only weighing 30 lbs herself full grown! Winter is a pitbull mix, and unfortunately we hear it very often how people don’t want any pitbull mix. We hope that meeting a sweet and gentle pitbull mix such as Winter, or even Ralphie, will help change people’s perspective a bit. They deserve homes too! Help us find us their furever home!

She was surrendered by her previous owner for being vocal 😕 She will require some training for this, but really is such a sweet girl. Welcome our new baby Bounce! He was just surrendered yesterday due to the owners no longer having time for him. He is a 1 yr old pitbull mix and weights around 45lbs. He just arrived at our facility this morning with such good energy,! He has such a young sporit, and his name definitely matches his personality ❤️😂😭 He’s a jumper, a hugger, and a sloppy kisser 😂 He loves bacon treats 🥓 and he adores people. His last owner just came in this morning to say his last goodbyes 😕 He really loved him and after appealing with him it’s safe to say he feels at ease we will find him his perfect home that he deserves 🏡 🥹

Sweetest SHASTA got her parents!! When they first met, she got close to them and looked at them with all the love a dog can give. During the appointment, she also wanted to get walked by them instantly. Perfect match… As she didn’t really like her salmon food, they ran to get her beef and chicken for dinner. Also, while signing all the paperwork, a Dachshund owner and lover actually confirmed that she looks exactly like a standard-sized long haired (they can weight 32 pounds!)😍

Happy Thursday from our beauty queen. Lani!❤️
She has been in and out of medical, as puppies are especially sensitive to diseases. This 5 month old will steal your heart the instant you lay eyes on her. Her chihuahua and pug mix face paired with her cutest ears already makes her irresistible! But it’s her sweet and affectionate temperament that seals the deal! We are more than halfway to our goal with her cherry eye surgery, and we need your help to raise the remainder $600! We sincerely and would greatly appreciate anything to help get this baby feeling better and more comfortable. 🎉 ADOPTION ALERT🎉 Congrats to our newest baby Kuma, who just got adopted! She really is such a good girl and was so nervous and shy her first day here ! But, her new mommy drove all the way from San Diego just to come see our Kuma! She wagged her tail the moment she heard her new mommas soft voice comforting her, and saw her new baby brother to give her the companionship she needs right now. We love you Kuma! 🎉ADOPTION ALERT🎉 ROMEO GOT HIS LOVING FAMILY!! Romeo has received a lot of interest (obviously, look at him☺️) but his parents and new step mum/big sister were the fastest and just the right fit. They have rescued her too and know all about chihuahua terriers. Romeo and her look just the same! 🎉ADOPTION ALERT🎉 PRINCETON HAS GONE HOME!!! Princeton had been in medical for about a week, and his adopters had actually met him right before he went in. They couldn’t stop thinking about him and how amazing it would be to bring him home! He got along super well with their 10 year old husky, and he loved the kids! They had waited all week before being able to adopt today, and we are so happy it worked out! His new name is Peter Parker in honor of their kids’ favorite movie, and now they’re on a hunt to buy all the best spider man accessories and harnesses they can! ❤️They are a young chihuahua & terrier mix family: mom just wants to be hugged all day long, dad too but is very content being a couch potato. Princess is very attached to her puppies and she tells them very gently that they don’t need her milk anymore! Canelo is feeling responsible of them and the pups love to sleep next to him. Romeo and Pepito are being their silly self and give kisses to whoever asks. As you can see they are all beautiful and soo affectionate❤️

🎉Adoption alert🎉 Mamas got a home! This 2 months old came to us this morning right after being treated for fleas. We don’t now the reasons of the surrendering but she was falling asleep in everyone’s arms, throughout our whole event! She only began to wiggle her tail when she met her forever family, instantly feeling at home in their arms and that is when we knew that she was going to bless another wonderful family, that will love her cherish her beautiful self! 🎉ADOPTION ALERT #2🎉 Our sweet one year old, Cody, just got in today but his new mom saw him right away and knew they were meant to be!! He came to us extremely matted and underweight, surrendered because his previous owners were moving.
But this is all in the past, his forever family has been looking for a buddy like him for so long!
They are going to give him all the good food and spa quality grooming. Sweet Cody, you luckily didn’t have to stay too long at the shelter and we are thrilled to see you get this fresh start in life, you deserve it❤️ Congratulations, little one!
