The liberal California Supreme Court UNANIMOUSLY sided with Gavin Newsom and state Democrats in its ruling to REMOVE the California Taxpayer Protection Initiative from the ballot — and not let voters even have a chance to vote on it!

The CA Taxpayer Protection Initiative is a game-changing ballot measure that was put on the ballot by citizens collecting over 1.4 million signatures! It would restore and protect Prop 13 and would reverse billions in recently approved costly tax hikes.

That’s why Democrats wanted to kill the initiative by preventing it from even being voted on.

Legal Action: Usually the CA Supreme Court gets the final say on state ballot measure issues. But the abuse of power in this ruling is so clear and egregious that we may have standing to pursue a federal 14th Amendment case and seek remedy at the US Supreme Court. Save Prop 13: Even though the CA Democrats have corruptly blocked a vote on the CA Taxpayer Protection Initiative, we still have to defeat their two ballot measures (ACA1 and ACA13) that gut Prop 13 and a variety of tax hikes they have put on the November ballot! Statement on California Supreme Court Ruling on Taxpayer Protection Act

SACRAMENTO, CA—The Taxpayer Protection and Government Accountability Act (TPA) campaign issued the following statement from Rob Lapsley, president of the California Business Roundtable, Jon Coupal, president of the Howard Jarvis Taxpayers Association and Matthew Hargrove, president and CEO of the California Business Properties Association:


“Today’s ruling is the greatest threat to democracy California has faced in recent memory. Governor Newsom has effectively erased the voice of 1.43 million voters who signed the petition to qualify the Taxpayer Protection Act for the November ballot. Most importantly, the governor has cynically terminated Californians’ rights to engage in direct democracy despite his many claims that he is a defender of individual rights and democracy. Evidently, the governor wants to protect democracy and individual rights in other states, but not for all Californians.


We are disappointed that the California Supreme Court has put politics ahead of the Constitution, disregarding long-standing precedent that they should not intervene in an election before voters decide qualified initiatives.


Direct democracy and our initiative process are now at risk with this decision, showing California is firmly a one-party state where the governor and Legislature can politically influence courts to block ballot measures that threaten their ability to increase spending and raise taxes. Using the courts to block voters’ voices is the latest effort from the Democrats’ supermajority to remove any accountability measures that interfere with their agenda – a failed agenda that continues to drive up the cost of living with little accountability and few results.


This ruling sends a damning message to businesses in California and across the country that it is politically perilous to invest and grow jobs for the future.


In light of this ruling and the state's large budget deficit, a huge amount of tax increases are on the way that are sure to make California's cost of living even higher.


We will continue to explore our legal options and fight for the people’s right to hold their government accountable through direct democracy.”

Lady Freethinker Protests Animal Torture at Meta HQ

Thank you to everyone who joined Lady Freethinker in a global day of action to stop animal torture on Facebook!

LFT held a protest at Meta headquarters in Menlo Park, California to speak out for the baby monkeys, puppies, and other animals enduring horrific abuse and torture in videos shared on Facebook. Cars and trucks honked in support — including people who appeared to be Meta employees.



Our protest was covered by PCMag, putting the issue directly in front of the tech industry and the rest of the world.

On the same day, Action for Primates brought a letter and report to Meta’s offices in London – where staff refused to accept it. And Welttierschutzgesellschaft Ev (WTG) took to the streets of Berlin to raise awareness there. Across social media, people around the world called on Meta to stop abusive content immediately.

Facebook parent company Meta has a responsibility to stop animal cruelty from being posted and promoted on its platforms. Over 71,000 people have signed Lady Freethinker’s petition calling for change.

THANK YOU for speaking out on behalf of the innocent animals suffering for video views. Together, we will keep the pressure on until no animal suffers for “entertainment.”
