Hi! My name is Zipper. I absolutely love cuddling with my foster mom. I sleep through the night too. My dog and people neighbors are my favorite. I make sure to try and say hello to everyone! I get a bit upset if they don’t stop and say hi. I love going on walks and smelling the fresh air. When I’m outside I make sure to potty and will p*e on almost every tree. I understand that sometimes people need to run errands and that’s ok. I do not have an issue being in my crate while you are gone. I’ll just take a nap while I wait for you to come back home. My favorite way to wind down at the end of the day is laying in bed with my foster mom or watching tv while she rubs my belly. Young kids overwhelm me but I love people and older children who can approach me respectfully. There have been a few times I have snapped at and (once) bitten a human so no young kids please.

Meet new rescue Risa! Risa is playful and energetic and a huge cuddle bug! She has bursts of energy sometimes where all she wants to do is run around and play fetch with her toys but is mostly calm and relaxed. Her favorite thing to do is sleeping in your arms and she’ll always come over to greet you or just relax on the couch. She is working on her potty training and uses her potty pads about 70% of the time. She does still sometimes p*e when excited (usually seeing people!). Is that a CAT?!?  Why yes, yes it is. 😳😬You see, sometimes we get a plea for something that goes outside our usual “dog” rescue walls and our hearts just can’t turn away. 💔 We are lovers of all living creatures if we are being honest (no offense to dogs of course!) ❤️🙏🏻

We recently got a few urgent pleas for cats 🐈 that were about to be put down due to space 🥺 and needed out of the shelter immediately to survive. We took a leap of faith and have rescued as many of them as we could.

Unfortunately, a few of them wound up having expensive medical 🏥 💴 issues (scroll for bills) and we are humbly asking for your help to ensure our good deed goes unpunished (we hope 🙏🏻)

Over the years we have rescued dogs, lambs, chickens and even a PIG. Like we said, our hearts belong to the animals and we just couldn’t turn away these poor cats who needed saving right away.

We would love to continue to help some cats in need too during this shelter crisis but to do so we need your help raising some funds. You can see just some of the bills adding up if you scroll through. So, if you are willing to help we would be SO grateful for any donations.

Foster or Adoption Needed

Everybody meet Pocket! Pocket was dumped at the shelter as a wee puppy completely riddled with fleas and nearly no fur. ( He tested negative for mange and ringworm and was simply being eaten alive by fleas. Luckily he survived the shelter and we swooped in to save him and nurse him back to health. He has been receiving medicated baths daily along with proper food and care (and love of course!) and his fur is growing in gloriously!
He is a typical puppy with fun energy and lots of licks and cuddles. He will be a large dog fully grown and would love a family who can guide him to a life of love forever. He needs a new foster (or adopter!!)!! ~14 weeks, 10 lbs.

Adoption Needed

Allow us to reintroduce you to WIGGLES!! Wiggles was red listed and scheduled to be euthanized because she was starting to get agitated with her kennel mate/brother with whom she had been left for 3 MONTHS with maybe 3 short walk breaks TOTAL. Well, we pulled together and thanks to our village we were able to find her a foster and it turns out that Wiggles is.......the sweetest little wiggle girl ever!
Wiggles is a classic puppy. She is affectionate, playful and silly. She is high energy and would do well in an active home as she loves walks, runs and playing catch. While she loves being active, she is also happy to lay down on your feet and take a nap. Above all else, she likes being close to her people. She is fostered with another dog similar in size and could do well in a home with another medium/large dog with proper introduction. These introductions should be done slowly and on leash at first.
She is housebroken with a schedule or access to a yard and also great in her crate and does not have separation anxiety if left alone for a few hours. She knows her “sit” and “lay down” commands and is working on other basics! 1 yr, 49 lbs. Saved from a death she didn’t deserve and ready for a forever of love!!

PS Wiggles LOVES her tennis balls and is very food motivated so training her is really fun and easy. We’re so happy we took a chance on this big goofball!!

🤯Mr Almond Butter was on the euthanize list last week for biting and medical‼️

🆘FOSTER NEEDED🆘

We decided to step in as he was too small and cute to be ending his life.

Peanut (now Almond Butter) is about eight years old and had an injury on the side of his neck, needed dental work, has a hard time seeing fully, and had infected ears.

We brought him straight to our vet on Saturday morning and he’s been there ever since getting his medical treatment.

He’s looking for a foster home to give him the TLC he deserves.

He has not had any more biting incident. He just doesn’t like to be grabbed when sleeping or put in a crate. He likes a little bit of a notice in order to know that you were coming for him. He has a time seeing so this is helpful for him.

They called him peanut at the shelter, but we’ve had so many peanuts in our rescue that we would call him almond butter !

Why Foster Belle? Because she’s 5 lbs of magic! 🪄

She was dumped at the shelter terrified and confused. She was snapping and growling and did not want to be handled. We swept in to save her. She is starting to come out of her shell and needs someone to help her find safety and love💓🏡

She is still very sensitive to touch and needs someone to go sloooow. No young kids please. She is good with other small dogs but just as happy to be the only princess. We think she would be fine with cats also. She is working on house breaking and will need to be taken to our vet in highland park for spay.

🆘Imagine this… you are just sitting down to enjoy your FAVORITE snack when, out of nowhere, someone runs by and quickly sn**ches it from you. How would YOU react?🥺😡

Well, Mr. Smalls here has a “bite history” mark against him just because a kid tried to sn**ch away his bone suddenly. Well, we are here to say: ‼️THAT’S NOT FAIR‼️. Smalls is honestly an amazing dog, he just needs a home now with no kids because, well, kids will be kids.

So…NOW Smalls is in need of a FOSTER or FOREVER home BY THE 30th!. Yep, we have just 10 days to get Smalls into a home and away from the dreaded boarding place 😭🙏🏼. That’s just the sad reality. As a foster-based rescue we can only keep dogs in homes if we HAVE homes for them to go to. SO HERE WE ARE, BEGGING to please open your heart and home to Smalls.🏠🥹

❤️Smalls is a very curious little guy. He likes to check out every corner of the house and sniff everything. He likes to play fetch with his toys and is very friendly with humans and will throw himself on the floor in front of your feet to get belly rubs. He’s very food motivated and is learning his basic commands. He’s potty-trained, Good on leash and is very excited to go out for walks. He’s good with other dogs but might get a bit overwhelmed if he meets several dogs at the same time. He enjoys his crate or a comfy bed to chill out. ❤️

Rui is still looking for his forever home! 💖 This sweet 10-year-old Papillon mix is a loyal lovebug looking for a patient and understanding forever home.

He may be a little shy at first, but once he trusts you, he'll shower you with affection! He loves walks, cuddles, and following you around. Rui has some special needs, including a sensitive tummy and a fear of loud noises, but with a little love and care, he'll thrive.

Rui loves short walks outside and is so patient when getting bathed. He used to have seizures after stressful events (loud/busy environments/overstimulation), but they have significantly reduced, and he hasn’t had one in a few months! To be proactive, he gets a couple of drops of CBD oil before any stressful situation.

Sweet Senior Belgium is still looking for his forever home! 💖

There is a lot of sadness in rescue - it's true. One of the saddest things we see far too often is when sweet senior animals are dumped in their golden years. Belgium is one of the wonderful seniors we have available for adoption. He has so much more life and love to give!

Belgium was abandoned with a broken heart, awful skin, and a rotted jaw. He has been nursed lovingly back to health and would love nothing more than for someone to love him forever. This 12-year-old, 5-pound lapdog is full of love and just wants to be cherished. He's quiet, loves to cuddle, and is easy to care for.

He is p*e pad trained and often goes to the bathroom outside on potty breaks. Anyone who ends up with this loving senior pup will be very lucky. He loves to nap, snuggle, and hug and would do best with someone who can dote on him the way he deserves! 🏡
