KERMIE & LUCKY UPDATE!!!😍
It’s a happy tails adoption story!🐾

Who remembers Kermie and Lucky??
Old-Schoolers!😹
These 2 bunnies were hard to adopt -
Lucky arrived at the shelter paralyzed, and Kermie was an occasional biter with icky poop.💩
Who in the world would be Angelic enough to take these imperfect but beautiful rabbits home?? 🙀
Well, they were both adopted by the same Angel, and 2 years later, here’s what she has to say about them:

“We officially foster failed on Kermie and Lucky and they are the best buns! Kermie is free roam and has her own big room to raise a ruckus in.
She’s def a biter of strangers and love to bites us from time to time haha but it’s super nbd (please consider fostering and adopting the “behavioral” rabbits! They feel deep and are the biggest lovers 🥰).
She’s gotten a little portly so she’s on a diet per her vet (rude!). Kermie lives life on her own terms (her new favorite thing is throwing her bowl with pellets in it to pick out the oat groat) and is the greatest addition to our family.

Lucky had a broken back and it does not slow him down one bit. He lives in a large cozy pen and has been making great progress with physical therapy and acupuncture. He’s a total daddy’s boy and loves to throw hay at us when he’s displeased and feeling feisty.
Please consider adopting the disabled buns they put us to shame with their resilience and sass ❤️He’s the best guy who has made our family whole ❤️”

We are so grateful to for having the biggest heart ever, and taking in these 2 broken but still perfect buns into your world, and loving them like family....

New kid in the shelter!🐰
Who’s hiding under all that fluff??
It’s Chubby!😍
This boy arrived already neutered - and has now been quarantined, vaccinated and is ready to be adopted....
Hopefully to a kind and gentle home!🙏

Did you know are prey animals and are naturally quite shy and scared until they know they’re safe?
They’re pretty fragile and most don’t like being held, either.
These traits make rather unsuitable for small children - who are naturally prone to squeals and chasing, and are just dying to pick up the !

We hope that Chubby’s next home will be a forever home, when he can hop and play safely and be the happy little he was born to be!✨

UPDATE- Since the Moonlight & Sparkle debaucle, the shelters have doubled down on their commitment to keep small animal pairs together.
These signs have been printed as a reminder to all that bonded pairs are not be separated.

This is a small-but-big step forward in providing more humane sheltering in the city of LA; one that is long overdue.🙌
We are grateful for the empathy of new GM Staycee Dains, and hope that this new policy is one that will stick!🤞🤞

These 5 bunnies were just pulled from a laboratory where they’ve lived their whole lives, just before being euthanized!😢
They are now in-holding in a facility in Los Angeles until we find foster homes for them!
Can you help??
These girls have never known freedom or family or love....

Moonlight and Sparkle are a pair of bonded sisters and -
They have been at the shelter since they were just 1 month old, and now they are 4 months old and finally big enough to get spayed next week!🎉
But unfortunately there is an adopter who wants to adopt just one of them (guess which one).😔

☝️THIS IS WHY WE DON’T TRUST “RESCUES” UNLESS WE KNOW THEM PERSONALLY!☝️
Too many rescues taking in too many animals that they can’t care properly for.🥺

Reposting as a post in case people missed my story but over 140 animals have been confiscated. Not just dogs or cats, but farm animals, small animals, birds, & reptiles. Please tag below rescues that can help or share so more people can help these babies once they are off their hold!

Yesterday, DACC and the LACO District Attorney’s Office Bureau of Investigation executed a search warrant on Compton Animal Rescue, a 501(c)3 that was the subject of numerous community complaints of alleged neglect and mistreatment of animals.

In total, DACC has taken in over 140 live animals, primarily dogs, but also including cats, chickens, a rooster, tortoise, turtles, pigs, snakes, a horse, hamster, rabbits, a hawk, and lizards. The animals will remain on an evidence hold while the DA considers the appropriate criminal charges. Sadly, a number of these animals are very ill, and DACC also impounded over a dozen deceased animals.

DACC wants to thank the DA Office for their collaboration on removing these animals from the deplorable conditions in which they were found, and extend our gratitude to the community members who spoke up and reported the situation. DACC relies on our communities to be the voice for neighborhood animals, and we’re so thankful these community members rose to the occasion so we could do our jobs and enforce animal welfare standards.

It is with heavy but hopeful hearts that we bid farewell to our old shelter residents Tabbitha & Sage -
After months without interest, our post was noticed by who saw the need for Tabbitha’s eye and the growth on Sage’s nose to be checked out by a vet, and offered to help.🙌
Currently they are out of shelter, and are going to be completely vetted by the rescue with the promise of sanctuary, if deemed unadoptable.
Best of all, they will stay together.
