Goldie on Sept. 26, 2019, when he was living on the streets.
Goldie on September 26, 2019 when he was still living on the streets next to an auto graveyard in Downtown Los Angeles. He's such a good boy and needs a great home.
4-year-old Goldie, a very sensitive and lovable part-Bengal, was homeless in Downtown LA with his friend Kingpin for years. Kingpin died in late 2019.

At around 4-years-old, an incredibly intelligent, sensitive and handsome cat named Goldie has survived a rough neighborhood in Downtown L.A. for many years, making friends with a few humans who have fed him, avoiding a neighborhood cat poisoner, and enjoying the company of his best friend, a mean-looking, hissing tomcat named Kingpin. I got them fixed perhaps a year-and-a-half-ago, and eventually befriended the two of them over a period of about six months, feeding them, visiting them daily and slowly gaining their trust. My dream of finding a great, loving home for the two of them together was sadly shattered in October 2019 when Kingpin’s health rapidly began to decline. As a very active cat rescuer, I basically had no room for another cat in my small, modest home but I took Kingpin off the streets as it was clear that he would suffer a very difficult death if he didn’t get help and shelter immediately. It was heartbreaking to separate Goldie and Kingpin but I had no choice. Kingpin died five weeks later and after finding homes for some of the kittens I had been fostering, I was finally able to get Goldie off the streets on January 3rd and to bring him home with me. Tests at an animal hospital showed that Goldie has Feline AIDS, which he likely caught in a cat fight as it is primarily spread through deep bite wounds. He does not suffer from having it however if ever he gets sick, he should see a vet immediately as untreated infections can become fatal if untreated. Life on the streets is not a safe option for Goldie. Having been homeless for years, he is slowly getting used to being indoors but is more accustomed to having a lot of freedom to move around and to not just be confined to a single, small room or two as he gets claustrophobic. He needs fresh air and sunlight to be happy and it is my hope that he will find a home with a loving guardian in a place where he has a good view from the windows, a good-sized enclosed porch or patio where he will be able to hear the sounds of the outside world and perhaps access to an enclosed courtyard or backyard once he knows where he is and would not wander off and get lost. He should never be homeless again. Goldie is one of the most sensitive, intelligent cats I have ever known. He gets along with other cats though he would need to be introduced to a new cat slowly. He does not like dogs. He is part Bengal, have a beautiful coat and is missing the tip of his left ear and one of his upper fangs. He is a very dignified fellow but, once he knows you, trusts you and loves you, he can be very affectionate and he is a very loyal friend and companion. He sticks the tip of his tongue out frequently, which is a very endearing and adorable habit of his. Watching him care for Kingpin when Kingpin was sick was deeply moving. If you can give him a beautiful home and life in which he will always feel loved and taken care of, please get in touch. Bringing him to anywhere in Southern California would be easy but, with funding, I may be able to get him to anyplace in the USA because he deserves the best home and the best guardian out there. Please help make up for all the years of neglect and brutal living that he had to endure and give him a better future. Thank you.
