A huge thank you to Homeward Bound Cat Adoptions, a non profit organization in Las Vegas that reached out to us and offered to take some of our adoption ready cats to help us make room for more. We sent 12 of our adoption ready cats this weekend, which opens room to take in more cats from shelters overrun with displaced cats from the LA fires. 🙏🏼 Seven of our twelve cats have already been adopted! 👏👏🎉
This sweet video appeared on a local Las Vegas news channel 3, where we got to see our KR cats, settling in, happy and playful.
More good news? Kitten Rescue has been approached by two other organizations to take cats from Los Angeles to help make room for cats displaced by the fires. With teamwork like this, we can do so much more to save the lives of these vulnerable cats and relieve their suffering. 💕

🥳🎉REUNITED🎉🥳. Get ready for the the most exciting news: NORWICH, (real name PANCHO), the kitty we posted who was lost in the fires, was REUNITED with his parents today at our Sanctuary! 👏👏The power of social media is strong; this outreach brought them back together. His humans are over the moon with happiness to have their sweet boy back and Pancho seemed pretty relieved too. 😻Before he left, Pancho was microchipped to make sure he can always be identified and returned should anything like this ever happen again, though the family is NOT planning to let him out of their sight! A big thank you to our entire cat community for helping amplify this story and helping Pancho find his way back home. 👉👉We can’t do this alone, we need people like you to continue to step up any way you can at this critical time when animals are in desperate need of being rescued and reunited with their families. Whether that’s by donating, fostering, running with us in the LA marathon to save cats, or simply sharing our posts, all of it helps, more than you know. We are stronger together, right Pancho? #Reunited #togetherforever #ittakesavillage #lafires #microchippingsaveslives #teamwork
It’s the double whammy—the temperate climate in Los Angeles leads to an early kitten season, meaning the three kittens in this video were born sometime in December 2024! 🙀🙀The person who found them outdoors contacted long time foster Darla at Kitten Rescue and agreed to become a Kitten Rescue foster parent and take them into her home to raise for adoption. That was, until the fires caused her to need to evacuate the day before she was to get the kittens. She is still evacuated and her home may have smoke damage. 😔Darla stepped up and will temporarily foster these three until the original foster is ready to take them! Thanks to both fosters who worked together to keep these little babies safe and healthy against many challenging odds. Fostering and adopting right now—is absolutely saving lives as we all try to reduce the number of cats at risk at shelters and make room for more temporarily displaced cats during these unpredented times. #catrescue #LAFires #fosteringsaveslives #ittakesavillage #atwatervillage #adoptacattoday
🦺Breaking News! Kitten Rescue alums safe from the fires🦺Rafiki and Blackbird, two Kitten Rescue kitties, were evacuated with their family from their adoptive homes and their adopters shared these photos. Blackbird is the sweetest kitty who had severe eye damage when we rescued her. After a time, she was adopted by this most beautiful and loving family. Then, Rafiki, the gentle giant and prince of our nursery area-was adopted after a long patient wait by the same family. Rafiki's adopters sent us these sweet photos today to tell us that while they had to evacuate their home due to the fires in Los Angeles, that they are safe and out of harms way. And, most importantly, everyone including their beloved fur babies are together and doing well. 💕🙏🏼Look at Rafiki just taking it all in stride! This is a reminder that if you are thinking of adopting (another) cat, this is the very best time. The shelters are bombarded with displaced cats from the fire, the usual drops offs as well as sick and injured cats. Our ability to save more of those shelter cats depends upon having more space which means getting more cats adopted! By adopting now, you are literally helping us save another shelter cat as well as giving a cat a forever home with you.#safe #adoptandsavelives #foreverhomes #adoptontshop #kittenrescuela
Congratulations Carrot Cake🎉 and thank you Pasadena Humane (@pasadenahumane)! 🥕🍰Carrot Cake is a Kitten Rescue cat, and we are so thankful that he has been found and reunited with his family🥹. All our rescue cats are microchipped prior to adoption and Carrot Cake’s story is an important reminder to chip your cats🐈🐈⬛! Carrot Cake suffered burns to his paw pads and is now in the care of our partner vet, LA Pet Clinic, where he is receiving daily wound changes and pain medication. Soon, he and his dad will be together again. It truly takes a village and we couldn’t be more thankful to this incredible community🙏

In the midst of the fires, we are stepping up to help shelters in need by creating space for more displaced animals. Yesterday, we pulled our first mom and babies of the season from North Central Animal Shelter.
Meet Lucy and her six adorable kittens. 🐱💖 This sweet family is now safe and sound, receiving all the care and love they need in a loving foster home.
By pulling cats like Lucy and her babies, we are not only giving them a chance at a better life, but also freeing up critical space in municipal shelters so they can continue to take in animals affected by the fires.
Your support makes this lifesaving work possible.
📣 Want to help? Donations of supplies or funds are always appreciated. Click here to donate: https://kittenrescue.networkforgood.com/projects/24979-help-us-save-more-cats-and-kittens
or stop by our Sanctuary at 3519 Casitas Ave, 90039 to donate supplies.
Together, we can make a difference for people and cats affected by the fires. 💕

“Don’t believe everything you read on my enclosure door” says Lazlo. Lazlo came to Kitten Rescue along with his girlfriend Lacey and their five children (named the Bikini Bottom litter). Yes, this is the cat family that lived in a U-Haul with their humans, then were turned away from the shelter. Lazlo famously was quite annoyed to have his growing children surrounding him at his new home at Kitten Rescue and did a lot of loud protesting. 🙀Lazlo now has his own enclosure, and wants you to know that he’s not really a mean or angry cat, he’s just misunderstood! Why, look at him allowing the photographer to pet him! And then, he threw a party in his enclosure and invited LOTS of sanctuary cats. Would an angry cat do all that? Lazlo thinks not ! 😻Seriously, this stunning young man needs a second chance at a forever home. If you’d like to meet him (and his entire family) just visit our sanctuary in Atwater Village any day from 12-5 pm and ask for them by name. Fire Rescue 2025
🚨Fire Rescue Update! 🚨
The devastating fires across Southern California have displaced countless families, including many of our foster parents and their beloved cats. We’ve taken in evacuated cats from Tail Town in Pasadena and provided shelter for those from foster homes who were forced to evacuate.
At the same time, in the early hours of the morning, two of our dedicated volunteers rushed to assist a senior woman in Calabasas, 🚗helping her safely net two house ferals in the dark. 🙀We are now housing her four cats, ensuring they have a safe place during this crisis.🙏🏼🐱🐱🐱🐱
With 1,767 cats currently in our system, and spread across the city, our focus has been on working together to relocate cats to safe areas. This monumental effort has required incredible coordination, compassion, and quick action from everyone involved. We are tired but so proud of our courageous and compassionate team. This is what it’s all about. 💕
We are deeply grateful for the strength and resilience of our community during these trying times. Stay tuned for ways you can support our efforts and help ensure the safety of these vulnerable animals. ( a few of yesterday’s evacuees in the photos)

A big shout out to all the caretakers who work at our sanctuary in Atwater Village! 👏👏This job requires hard physical work, attention to detail, good communication, and many other skills, but and most of all—a love of cats! Seen here is one of our caretakers indulging Abe (President’s litter) as a rather “heavy” passenger during the gathering of food bowls throughout the sanctuary! Also, ADOPT ABE ! 😻 #caretakersrock #gratitude #adoptdontshop #atwatervillage
