🆘 14-YEAR-OLD BROWNIE JR NEEDS RESCUE BY TUESDAY 8/29 @ 4PM❗️ ORANGE ALERTED ❗️

This little guy first came into the shelter as a lost dog in 2012. He was redeemed or adopted and just came in again as a lost dog on 8/22 but his owner hasn’t claimed him.

He has several medical issues which need further diagnostics and treatment. Here is the notes from the shelter:
1) Geriatric dog with multiple co-morbidities
2) Mass-like structure under tongue - R/O [rule out] ranula vs mass vs other
3) Grade 4/6 heart murmur
4) Cough - R/O CHF vs inflammatory vs infectious vs neoplasia vs other
5) Enlarged abdomen - R/O ascites vs organ enlargement vs other
6) Severe dental disease
7) Left axillary lymph node enlargement - R/O increased lymphatic drainage or inflammation vs neoplasia vs other
😎 Marked muscle wasting of head
9) Abrasion on nose
10) Weight loss

“When bottle feeding kittens, we are delivering larger volumes of milk at a much faster rate than a nursing mother. Healthy kittens do not need to be fed every two hours. Allow kittens to sleep for longer periods and do not wake a kitten to feed it. After a few feedings this will stretch their stomach to allow for more milk to be taken in at each feeding, which in turn will require less feedings than the previous practice of every two hours.”

🆘 2-YEAR-OLD BLUE NEEDS RESCUE BY WEDNESDAY 7/26 @ 4PM❗️RED ALERTED❗️

Blue’s family got her from a breeder when she was only 3 weeks old (if true, that is totally irresponsible b/c that is WAY too young).

The owner described her as friendly and outgoing and she plays gently with adults. She is also relaxed, playful and gentle with other dogs and has been to off-leash dog parks. She is well behaved when left alone but they also noted that she urinates indoors which suggests they never house trained her. They also said she will bark when an unfamiliar person approaches.

They surrendered her on July 8, 4 days after a couple of bite incidents. One was on June 29 and the other was the 4th of July (the bite report filled out by staff stated they both occurred on the same day but the form filled out by the owner has different dates).

One incident says Blue was laying in bed with a family member and when he went to remove her collar she nipped him in the thumb (no other context was provided).

The other was when the adult son was unwrapping a treat to give her and she bit his hands (this was described as severe, there was ligament damage). There was no other context provided and we don’t know which one occurred on the 4th of July and if she was stressed by fireworks at the time it occurred.

We will share more info about her as we get it (the volunteers haven’t had a chance to know her as she was just released from bite quarantine last week).

Nyla is 8 weeks old and has a serious painful skin condition which needs further treatment at a private vet.

The shelter vet suspects puppy strangles or panniculitis. Here is how the vet described her condition:

Patient has mass-like abscessations widely distributed all over the body, which are spontaneously rupturing and draining, painful, generalized condition, severe.

Charli came into the shelter injured yesterday and his owner hasn’t come for him yet (unfortunately all we have right now is his intake photo - we didn’t want to wait to post him because his deadline is just a few days away).

He is alerted because both eyes are infected and his left eye is severely injured. He also has dental disease. He otherwise appears healthy.
