Our 9 yo baby boy lost his battle to prostate cancer on Monday. Heβs finally pain free π€
It happened really fast. We took him in for his routine check up at the vet. They did a senior screening on him since he was going to be 10 in October. They found blood in his urine so they treated it like a uti. When antibiotics didnβt fix it, they did a cancer screening and it came back positive. They sent us to a pet oncologist, and they found a tumor in his prostate. Told us with successful chemo, we maybe have 5 months. We did 3 rounds of chemo, and it worked by shrinking the tumor in his prostate, but it actually made the cancer more aggressive in another place in his body, his shoulder. He was in so much pain over night that continued to progress. He couldnβt even walk he was in so much pain. Even on two different types of pain meds, he was miserable. We had to make the decision to set him free.
I say this not to scare anyone, but if you get the option to do an early senior screening at your vet, do it!!!!
