We are baffled as to why little Lucky has been waiting at the shelter since October 30th. He came in having a possible owner (chipped) but no one came for him. He’s made lots of friends (both dogs and people) since he’s been at the shelter and we really want to see him exit.
He has some medical needs that will need to be addressed by a private vet (see below).
⚕️Medical :
Oral disease: Periodontal dz
Ocular problems:opacity OU
Skin conditions:Peri-anal mass

HELP WANTED!🐰
Are you a small animal lover??
North Central Shelter’s small animal room is in desperate need of caring volunteers.
Currently the bunnies and guinea pigs are rarely getting out for exercise and need some loving enrichment…
They’re just in their cages 24:7 with hardly any adoptions.
We simply don’t have enough volunteers. 😔
And we need photos and videos to help them get adopted!
Hamsters too! 🐹
Can you help?
Set your own schedule and do what you feel is most important. 😃
Whatever you can give, the smalls will appreciate it!
Please DM @bunnies_of_north_central (on Instagram) for more info! 🐰

Meet Sophie!
Sophie is a low- to medium- energy 6-year-old spayed girl who came into the shelter in August, but as she has an old A number, we know this wasn’t her first time here. Sadly, no one has come for her.
She started off quite timid and nervous here but has opened up and showed her vibrant personality! She has been in playgroup a few times and her participation has been described as “social” and “confident,” noting she can be “sharp.” Volunteers love her good leash manners, and she has quite the penchant for butt scratches!
Come meet Sophie (#A1891866)!

🆘 DELILAH HAS LESS THAN 48 HRS. Must be adopted or rescued by WED 12/4 @ 4PM for medical reasons ❤️🩹
6 year old Delilah has the brightest spirit but now has LESS THAN 48 HRS to make it out of the shelter.
Delilah first arrived at North Central in 2022 as a ‘possible owner’. Her owner was contacted but did not come for her. She was quickly adopted and she thought that her shelter days were over...
Fast forward to May 2024 when she was ‘found’ roaming the streets. Her owner was contacted but Delilah been waiting ever since 😞
She has a shining smile, joyful nature, knows ‘sit’, ‘shake’, double high-five, and is always fun to be around ⭐
Recently volunteers noticed that Delilah was limping & holding up her paw. She is being treated at the shelter but she needs more care than the shelter can provide (see below for medical notes). She has not been able to get a lot of enrichment due to her injury and we can see this lively girl’s light starting to fade 💔
Delilah was tested with a female and two male dogs, taking correction well and engaging in chase play with a male. SLOW INTRO’S RECOMMENDED.
Delilah has shown interest in cats so we suggest she NOT go to a home that has them.
It isn’t Delilah’s fault that people have continued to fail her and now she is unwell!!
She needs a committed person to step up for her. If she is not ADOPTED OR RESCUED by WED 12/4 @ 4pm, she will be euthanized.
Help Delilah❣️
- Offer to FOSTER FOR RESCUE! Visit the shelter to ADOPT. DM us OR COMMENT if interested! Pledge towards her medical care!

🚨Sweet senior Azocar must exit by DEC 5th 4PM due to medical reasons‼️
Just like his name, 10 year old Azocar is sweet as sugar. This gentleman arrived on 11/07 as a stray after the shelter received a call about a german shepherd loose at and around a school for over 3 weeks. We don’t have any info about his previous life but he loves affection and is an easy-going boy. He enjoys a nice crinkly chew toy and a friend to rub his head. What he wants more than anything is a warm dog bed where he can sit near his person and watch the world go by.
Azocar has some age related conditions that make life even harder for him at the shelter (More info below). Due to this he needs to get out of the shelter for further care ASAP! He has until 12/05 4PM to find safe exit. 🙏
Azocar recently had a meet with a male & female dog (large dogs) and was reported to be s*xually motivated (not neutered) and did not play, but was polite overall and mingled with the dogs. See video in comments. ⬇️
Please visit North Central if you can give Azocar the loving home and care he needs! He might not have had an easy life, but his past experiences will make a comfortable retirement that much sweeter. A caring staff member has dressed Azocar in his very own Christmas sweater. We would love nothing more than to see this sweet friend in a home in time for the holidays.❤️🩹
Please SHARE! Please PLEDGE towards his rescue!

FINAL NOTICE! Begging to stay alive this Thanksgiving! 🆘 NEEDS OUT BY TUES 11/26 EOD.
Help! Our stomachs are in knots over the fate of Coco, a YOUNG 2 yrs old girl who should have so much joy ahead of her. Instead, her life may end abruptly at the shelter. We ADORE Coco. She is such a sensitive soul. Sadly, already this beautiful baby has been put through the ringer. She originally came into Harbor shelter as a stray on 9/29/24 with a smaller dog who has since been adopted. She was timid and scared. She was briefly adopted, but did not get to stay out of the shelter long enough to decompress and feel safe. Just a few hours after being adopted, Coco’s adopters felt uncomfortable around Coco’s nervous behavior, which they reported included lunging, snapping and showing her teeth. Coco was picked up and brought right back into the stressful shelter environment.
Volunteers who’ve worked with Coco see a sweet girl longing to connect under that scared behavior. They notice that Coco is especially calm and happy around other dogs (she has met large & small dogs at the shelter). We think she’d really flourish in a home with a balanced dog who can show her the ropes. She needs a person who can go S-L-O-W with her. Patience and stability will go so far with Coco.
Are you the hero Coco needs to get out of here alive? Time is running out! Please act now!
Please pledges towards training & care, in case a rescuer can help this girl!Rescues can’t save without a committed foster though- DM us if you can commit to foster for rescue.🙏

Very sad to share that Lovos was euthanized.💔
🆘 Young boy LOVOS MUST be ADOPTED or RESCUED by EOD THURSDAY 11/21‼️
Lovos has been at North Central Shelter since April. That’s 8 long months - almost half of his young life. When he arrived, volunteers observed a playful young boy who liked being pet and showing off sit, paw, and down for treats. He was in playgroup with other dogs. He received a “good behavior” note.
Unfortunately, after months of little enrichment, his kennel stress has been increasing. In August it was noted that Lovos was showing signs of stress by barking and jumping in kennel. Recently, he has started to resist going back into the kennel. Last week when being returned to his kennel after neuter surgery, he jumped and lunged at staff and was able to get loose, requiring a 2nd handler to assist in returning him to the kennel. Due to his increasing stress and declining kennel behavior, the shelter can no longer safely house him. Lovos is now EUTH LISTED and must be adopted or rescued by EOD Thursday 11/21.
When out for walks, Lovos has been appropriate towards other dogs and comfortable with people. He is an energetic boy who loves to romp around the yard and show off tricks in exchange for treats. He is more independent than handler-oriented, but enjoys being brushed.
We hope he will find a patient home where he can de-stress and allow his true personality to flourish.
If you feel called to help this young boy recover from a challenging beginning, and can give him the enrichment he needs, please meet him at North Central shelter ASAP.
