Little Ajax (#A2150600) is a two-year-old husky mix that came into the shelter in July as a stray. He had fly strike on his ears and showed signs of being on the streets for a while.
Ajax has been having a hard time at the shelter and has been losing weight. The shelter believes it is either malabsorption, an aversion to the food, or something they are unable to detect. He is currently undergoing treatment and needs more than the shelter can provide.😢
Ajax is a mellow boy with big soulful eyes. He has very sweet little howls. He can be timid at first, but with time warms up, and has proven himself to be a huge cuddle bug. He likes giving belly, giving sweet kisses, and being tangled up with his favorite volunteer.
Ajax does well on the leash and has medium energy for a such a young boy. He likes treats and knows ‘sit.’ Ajax’s ideal person is someone breed experienced who understands husky needs and quirks and is willing to put in the time for Ajax to adjust and to earn his trust.
Ajax has had a dog meet with a very enthusiastic female pup, he was tolerant, but avoidant and would most likely do best with a balanced, calm dog in a quiet home.
Ajax needs someone to step up for him, someone committed, loving, and patient. Ajax will repay that with his loyalty. He is a soul dog and he’s looking for his person!

Young senior YODY (#A1870568) has been waiting at North Central Shelter in LA since May. He’s been described as a handsome brindle noodle and/or an XXL fruit bat, but we think he is a Dutchie. 😅
He’s a vibrant 9 years old, gentle enough to be handled by novice volunteers but still young enough to pick up the pace as he zooms around the play yard and eagerly sits for treats.
He kept up with us on a marathon field trip that involved lots of walking, brushing, treat puzzles, car rides, people and dogs. He made human and dog friends at Blue Collar Working Dog. He walks gently on the leash and loves to give his belly for a good scratch. Yody had a blast on his day out and we want to make sure the next time he leaves the shelter it’s for good.💗
LA shelters are at over 200% capacity, and any dog can become urgent/deadlined overnight.
Don’t wait - meet Yody in Los Angeles today!

Hey everyone, the seven siblings rabbits are still here and have grown quite a bit!
There are 3 males and 2 pairs of females sharing a cage. They are curious and love to be outside of their cages to have fun.

Bobbie (#A2157142) is a 5 YO, 21.4 lbs pup who came into the shelter as a stray on 8/11, but sadly, no one has come to claim him.😔 He’s currently kenneled with three other dogs and is showing signs of possibly being house-trained, as he quickly relieved himself as soon as he got outside. Bobbie enjoys exploring and is affectionate, often coming over to solicit pets.🥰 It’s clear he longs to be out of the shelter, because he became restless and started whining and barking, so I took him to the dirt yard where he happily ran around. However, the heat cut our time short. Bobbie was easy to return to his kennel and went in without any issues. Bobbie has a cherry eye that can be easily fixed. Please help this sweet boy find the loving home he deserves by adopting, fostering, pledging, or sharing his story.🙏

RESCUED DOG GHOST NEEDS A HOME!
Ghost deserves all the balls in the world.
But he deserves a home even more!!
Ghost was failed by his original owner and by his original pulling rescue. We do not want him to be failed any further. He deserves the absolute world and we need your help to give it to him. Ghost desperately needs a home and he's been waiting for one for over 2 years!!
Ghost is a 7 year old male neutered pittie who's starting to slow down with age. He enjoys 1 or 2 nice slow strolls around the block every day, but nothing extreme. He's started to slow down with age and wants someone to slow down with. He loves balls, squeaky toys, and chews! He hyperfixates on other dogs and we're still exploring where that attention lies with his trainer. He likes to lounge around after walks. If you give him a chew or toy, he'll walk straight to his crate or kennel to let you know he's done, lol. He's a very sweet old man who truly is just looking for a home to call his own after waiting for soooo long. Would you foster or adopt Ghost? Let us know today!

Lordy, how is it that sweet Coco Myers #A2007450 has been in the shelter for 300+ days without being adopted?
This spayed, 48-pound, three-year-old girl came in last October. She had a chip, but no one came to claim her. An energetic, friendly gal, Coco Myers has been kenneled with other dogs who have since been adopted. She is currently sharing a kennel with husky Bolt, who is quite attached to her. They can be adopted separately, or together if you want two dogs to keep each other company when you are away.
Coco Myers and Bolt have been to mobile adoption events such as the library, where she met a children’s storyteller on her way out.
Come to the shelter to meet her!!💘

RIP💔
DEADLINE MONDAY 8/19 @ 4PM‼️
NEEDS RESCUE!
Poor 1 yr old pup Happy #A2108648 has the odds stacked against her. It’s unlikely she will ever make it out from the kennels that stress her out so much and have put her at risk in the first place.
Happy was adopted from another LAAS shelter back in November ’23, when she was approx 6 months old. Only 8 months later, she found herself back at a city shelter again on a possible owner hold. Her owners never came for her, and due to overcrowding, Happy was housed in a temporary “training kennel” without a cubby. In a matter of only 3 weeks, Happy has been red listed and made RESCUE ONLY due to kennel presence, including vertically exercising and lunging at staff during cleaning.
Volunteers had just started working with Happy, and reported that she was wiggly, loves affection and attention, and knows how to sit. She pulls on leash and could use work with her leash walking skills. Happy successfully shared a kennel with another female dog during her first shelter stay. That is the only info we have on how she is with other dogs at this time.
If you can foster or adopt Happy via a NEW HOPE PARTNER RESCUE, please DM US for more info. Sharing her post and pledging towards her care in the comments also helps!

RESCUED!🎉🎉
Nala is Urgent! Needs Rescue by TOMORROW SAT 8/17 EOD‼️
This is a Hail Mary for our beloved friend Nala #A2061860, who’s been waiting at North Central since Feb 2023 and in need of rescue, due to reported kennel stress after her long stay.💔
4 yrs old, 56 lbs Nala has been such an asset to volunteers and staff at North Central, helping to assess other dogs in playgroups. She’s confident, social, and tolerant. She’s been in well over 100 playgroups, and has also been kenneled with other dogs (both male and female) at the shelter.
Nala has become more social and connected with people during her stay also. She’s friendly and affectionate with volunteers, and loves to be pet! Nala is definitely a husky mix, so a person who understands a husky’s temperament would be the best fit.
Nala originally came into East Valley shelter in Dec ‘22. Volunteers had positive things to say - “very polite, very nice dog.” Nala was adopted shortly after her arrival, but returned in Feb ‘23 to North Central due to “aggression” (volunteers have no further notes, please contact shelter staff for more info). Volunteers began getting Nala out as a playgroup regular in March ‘23.
The thought of Nala not making it out of the shelter alive, after such a long time waiting and being so special to us, is heartbreaking! She needs a New Hope partnered Rescue to get her out safely, she is not adoptable to the public. She must be rescued by SAT 8/17 EOD or she will be euthanized. We can’t let this happen. She needs all our help! Please save Nala!❤️
How you can help:
*Offer to FOSTER or adopt FOR RESCUE! Rescues cannot save without committed foster homes!
⚠️DM us and comment below if you can foster/adopt.
*Please PLEDGE towards her rescue! Rescues rely on donations.💞

RESCUED!🎉🎊 Thank you Outta the Cage!
🆘URGENT! This magical gentle giant JOE-BREEZY (#A2145824) urgently Needs to be Adopted or Rescued by TUE 08/06 EOD‼️
He is experiencing high stress and anxiety when returning him to his kennel. He screams, pancakes and rolls 😢💔 and it is not humane to keep him confined in kennel life at the shelter.
In his short stay at North Central, since he came in as a stray in June, Joe-Breezy had to be moved between kennels a few times, which increased his fear of returning to a small kennel for such a big boy.
Out with volunteers he’s affectionate, sits for treats (which he takes gently and gives paw 🥹). He stays close to you and checks in often. He might jump up out of nervousness from time to time, but corrects easily. He walks well on leash through the kennels and is non-reactive to barking dogs. In a more quiet area he even showed great loose leash walking skills.
Sadly, on his last outing he started to pancake at all doors and gates.
He really does NOT bare being here.
The stressful, loud shelter is no place for a sensitive soul like 3 year old JOE-BREEZY.
Come adopt him or offer to foster for Rescue before it’s too late!
He deserves a happy, loving, free life.
He’s magical ✨💓
Please Share to help him be seen and saved!
