Little Ajax ( ) is a two-year-old husky mix that came into the shelter in July as a stray. He had fly strike on his ears and showed signs of being on the streets for a while.

Ajax has been having a hard time at the shelter and has been losing weight. The shelter believes it is either malabsorption, an aversion to the food, or something they are unable to detect. He is currently undergoing treatment and needs more than the shelter can provide.😢

Ajax is a mellow boy with big soulful eyes. He has very sweet little howls. He can be timid at first, but with time warms up, and has proven himself to be a huge cuddle bug. He likes giving belly, giving sweet kisses, and being tangled up with his favorite volunteer.

Ajax does well on the leash and has medium energy for a such a young boy. He likes treats and knows ‘sit.’ Ajax’s ideal person is someone breed experienced who understands husky needs and quirks and is willing to put in the time for Ajax to adjust and to earn his trust.

Ajax has had a dog meet with a very enthusiastic female pup, he was tolerant, but avoidant and would most likely do best with a balanced, calm dog in a quiet home.

Ajax needs someone to step up for him, someone committed, loving, and patient. Ajax will repay that with his loyalty. He is a soul dog and he’s looking for his person!

Young senior YODY ( ) has been waiting at North Central Shelter in LA since May. He’s been described as a handsome brindle noodle and/or an XXL fruit bat, but we think he is a Dutchie. 😅
He’s a vibrant 9 years old, gentle enough to be handled by novice volunteers but still young enough to pick up the pace as he zooms around the play yard and eagerly sits for treats.
He kept up with us on a marathon field trip that involved lots of walking, brushing, treat puzzles, car rides, people and dogs. He made human and dog friends at Blue Collar Working Dog. He walks gently on the leash and loves to give his belly for a good scratch. Yody had a blast on his day out and we want to make sure the next time he leaves the shelter it’s for good.💗

LA shelters are at over 200% capacity, and any dog can become urgent/deadlined overnight.
Don’t wait - meet Yody in Los Angeles today!

Today’s Happy Tail adoption story comes from Micaela and Jeff who adopted Lincoln, who was rescued from North Central by A Passion For Paws Rescue, Inc.. Jeff actually came to North Central to meet Lincoln before he was rescued, so you might call this fate! 🥰

Hello! This is an update on Lincoln. He’s an Akita mix North Central had starting in Oct. 2022 and was rescued by A Passion for Paws in Sept. 2023. My partner and I adopted him from Passion for Paws in May of this year and we just finished our first three months with him. We had been watching him since he was in your care and have been working hard to prepare a home for him. My partner met him at your facility as a potential foster and we both visited him twice at the rescue.
He is our precious boy and we all love each other very much. He has difficulty adjusting with food aggression and separation anxiety, but we were committed to making things work with him and now we have mutual trust and communication. He still has trouble being left alone but we continue to work with him. He loves to shake hands, play tug and hide and seek. He goes on three walks a day and gets all our love! Lincoln loves me but he is DEFINITELY a daddy’s boy. He LOVES Jeff and they play together all the time. They’re best friends 💖 Thank you!

Hey everyone, the seven siblings rabbits are still here and have grown quite a bit!
There are 3 males and 2 pairs of females sharing a cage. They are curious and love to be outside of their cages to have fun.
Despite looking the same, they all have different personalities. Come meet them!

ADOPTED/RESCUED!🎉🎉

Bobbie ( ) is a 5 YO, 21.4 lbs pup who came into the shelter as a stray on 8/11, but sadly, no one has come to claim him.😔 He’s currently kenneled with three other dogs and is showing signs of possibly being house-trained, as he quickly relieved himself as soon as he got outside. Bobbie enjoys exploring and is affectionate, often coming over to solicit pets.🥰 It’s clear he longs to be out of the shelter, because he became restless and started whining and barking, so I took him to the dirt yard where he happily ran around. However, the heat cut our time short. Bobbie was easy to return to his kennel and went in without any issues. Bobbie has a cherry eye that can be easily fixed. Please help this sweet boy find the loving home he deserves by adopting, fostering, pledging, or sharing his story.🙏
