A quick snippet of Coco getting her teeth scaled & polished aka teeth cleaning. She is under anesthesia to be able to do a proper & thorough job. You can hear her anesthetic monitors beeping in the background. These monitors check her heart rate, breath oxygen levels & blood pressure. First an oral exam is performed to check for gum recession, dental fractures, infections, bone loss and tumors of the mouth. Then, as this video shows, the teeth are hand scaled, followed by ultrasonic scaling and finally they are polished to finish things off.
It may be cold out but that isn't stopping ticks from feeding on your dog! Use year round flea & tick preventatives here in LA since we don't get snow.

This dog started shaking his head & wouldn't let anyone touch his ear. He needed sedation and a foxtail was successfully removed! After walks/hikes check the ears, body & paws for these pesky plants!
We pulled these ticks off a pup! The owner had no idea he had them (they can hide pretty well). The pup lives in the valley & hadn't been hiking yet. Ticks can transmit many diseases that affect both pets & people. Speak with your veterinarian about ways to prevent them.
