I love this! I also love to teach my dog tricks, and she loves to learn them... but the dog should be having fun too. This is not to say that I don't ever ask my dog to things she doesn't want to do.., just that I try to be mindful and take her feelings and well being into consideration.

Y'all are going to drive me to drink. The comments in this post questioning the advice of a board certified veterinary behaviorist is ridiculous. Do you hear yourselves?

The number of vets in my area that tell clients to wait until their puppies have had rabies shots before they go to puppy classes is astounding. Tell me how rabid animal is going to get into a well-run puppy class?

The number of nervous fearful puppies that I see at the age of 4 months without any appropriate socialization because they were told to stay home by veterinarians or other well-meaning people who don't know any better is tragic. Early intervention for problem behaviors is so very important.

In a solid 15 years of conducting puppy and dog classes I have a 100% safety record. I've never had a claim for a sick puppy or a sick dog. I've had up to 6 10 week old puppies in class together.

We practice mat skills, hear new noises, talk about grooming, handling, puppy nipping biting teething while the puppies are playing at their parents' feet.

Well run classes make a world of difference in the lives of puppies.🐾
