MEET THE FEAST BEASTS 🌱🐓

Say hi to Eva! Eva is a Sustainability Steward this year, working with the Native Restoration and Bruce Steele teams. She is a sophomore Sociology major and MAC minor.

Eva’s favorite spot at the garden is around the veggie beds because it’s sunny and beautiful. When asked about her favorite vegetable, she said she loves cucumbers, because “you can just carry them around with you wherever you go and always have them on hand.” When she’s not gardening, you can find her hiking, camping, going to concerts, playing the piano and harp, and exploring LA! 🌞🐓

Join us for our next Art & Tea event! This Friday March 22nd, from 3-4:30PM, we are hosting a Natural Dye Workshop. We will be using common food items and herbs from the garden such as avocado pits, onion skins, and rosemary, to make an all-natural dye for up-cycling clothing. In completion of the workshop, led by Dalila Oliver, you can take a small mason jar of dye home! Instructions and supplies will be provided but please bring the following:
- a mug for tea
- an item of clothing to dye (t-shirt, sock, bandana)
- a friend :)

When asked about his favorite vegetable, he said that he loves cucumbers. Sebastian’s favorite place in the garden is the chicken coop. When he’s not gardening, you can find Sebastian going on hikes and playing video games. 🥾🌄🎮

When asked about her favorite vegetable, she said that she loves “rainbow carrots because they are pretty and delicious.” Ellie’s favorite spot at the garden is the hammock, because it’s the perfect place for hanging out and reading. Say hi to Fatima! Fatima works with the Native Restoration team this year. She is a senior Sociology major.

Fatima’s favorite spot at the garden is by the lavender shrubs. When asked about her favorite fruit or vegetable, she said she loves tomatoes, because they are delicious and have many uses! When not working at the garden, you can find Fatima cooking, dancing, and going on walks. 🌟

All teams will meet at the Bruce Steele Garden at the beginning of their drop-in session. Consider enrolling in UEP 120, a 1 unit class with opportunities like growing food in the Bruce Steele Garden, composting, participating in native restoration, learning about chicken stewardship, and organizing community events.

When asked about his favorite vegetable, he said he loves chard, “because it’s so colorful.” Jakob’s favorite spot at the garden is the hugels, because he put a lot of love and time into making them happen.
