We’ve had Rudy for 4 weeks now. He is super sweet but the most vicious and stubborn pup I’ve ever had. He is 14 weeks. Would appreciate any and all tips to help us out with the following struggles.

1. Biting. He doesn’t just nibble or nip he bites hard. Sometimes we are just sitting there and he runs and bites your wrist or just and gets your face. We have done everything from direct no command and ignore, water spray, tap on the nose. He seems unphased and almost challenged to go harder. Very worried for my 6 year old and her friends. He shows us love and is sweet until he goes isn’t crazy mode.

2. Not sleeping through the night. He wakes us up 2-3 times a night to go potty. We remove water two hours before bedtime and he goes out twice before we sleep. He is crate trained and has yet to mess it. Bedtime is 10:30 every night. He wakes between 2-4am and again 6am on the dot. Which leads to my next frustration

3. He ONLY p**ps late night and early morning. 4-5 times. We feed him 3 times a day 1/3c of science diet. He gets low cal treat for going potty outside since potty training throughout the day. He does have chewing sticks and yak cheese but rarely touches them. How can I get him to p**p during the day so we can keep him sleeping longer.

4. Walks. He refuses to walk. Not even a step. I want him to exercise. Even just around the block. I’ve tried treats and excitement. He doesn’t care. It could be dry out (currently snowy and freezing) doesn’t matter. We have tried without boots and coat etc below pic is of todays attempt. He plops down no matter what.

I’ve rescued several dogs of various breeds and had a Yorker growing up but none have compared in frustrating behavior during early puppy phase.

This is Gizmo.He is a sweetheart. I was told when I purchased him that he was a full bred shih tzu. His mom was bigger and dad small. Gizmo weighs 25 lbs. Could he be mixed? He doesn’t over eat. Does anyone else have one this size 🙂 ❤️
