Stop Potential ESA Listing of Giant Clams!

What’s happened
The National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration (NOAA) has proposed the listing of 10 species of giant clams NOAA_FRDOC_0001-7079 as threatened or endangered which would ban their import or export into and out of the United States regardless of their source. All comments are due by February 19th.
What it means
Giant clams, despite the fact that those being imported into the U.S. are almost exclusively aquacultured, would no longer be available. This despite the fact that the aquarium trade recognized the plight of giant clams over a decade ago and worked to establish aquaculture facilities to provide these beautiful and hearty species that help to clean tanks and coexist peacefully with tankmates.
What can I do
Send a letter to NOAA expressing your belief that the proposed giant clam should not be adopted.
o Create a letter in opposition to the proposed listing using our provided points and your own opinions
o Go to https://www.regulations.gov/document/NOAA-NMFS-2017-0029-0027, fill in the required information and paste or drop your comments
