My goal is to empower pet owners with structure, rules, and training so their dogs can live a calmer life.
I also run BearHeart Reiki & Healing, helping with end of life healing and meditation sessions for the whole family.

Two rescues living their best life in Bend OR.

At the age of ten, I trained my first dog, and currently, my two favorite activities are giving people with canines the tools to think differently & work differently with their dogs. I genuinely enjoy addressing problems, and I find that conducting consultations often leads to effective solutions within the dynamics of a household with issues. I always say it is us not them that need the training to be consistent and lead.

TRUST - Nelson lets me Dremel his nails. It definitely took a while in beginning to get the dogs used to the sound but once they got used to it, they let me do their nails this way instead of cutting.

Rest in peace Mooney we love you.
Making some drawings of Mooney š today with Drake.
Happy holiday. We took everyone and our friends and there dogs. Everyone was so good. Iggy little, Moon Girl, Billie, Hazel and Nelson Mars.

Also found out Moon has a Polyp inside her little b***y. So getting surgery soon.

RESCUED. Look who has left the building? Bella girl on her way to forever home. So happy š
Dog day with Iggy Little
Great off leash day with all the dogs at False Bay.
Good test for Moon and her recall and e-collar.
When Moon is calm I can work her at a 4 and when she is excited or not listening I can go up to 15.
Happy Moon Girl after a play.
Working Moon on the muzzle.
She is so freaked about things like her nails, ears and brushing that having her on muzzle would be very helpful.
Iām also just working her slowly on letting me do these thing that possibly nobody did with her when she was a pup.
This stuff takes time but trying to do a little everyday is what is helpful for her.
We rescued Moon in May so lots of learning going on.

Moon Pants sleeping hard at the cabin.
We are up in Wa. on San Juan Island.
Kennel up with Moon. We did this for 15 min. So she could get comfortable in a new kennel in a new place before I went out while staying at my sisters house.
Moon must be kenneled up if Nelson is roaming free. We had a fight in the yard a few months ago so I donāt leave them alone together.
Kenneling or crating your dog is not bad. Just donāt leave them in it to long < 4 hours and make sure they can stand up and turn around easily.
This is a safe place for Moon to be and with her anxiety it helps when I leave.
Iggy Little and her Lauren Bacall smile.
Moon Girl at the park having anxiety. We are practicing Down Stay.
She is wearing the Ecollar by Ecollar technologies working her with low levels on all her commands. The E collar is great for working anxiety. This is the same collar I used for Mouse dog.
The feeding procedure helps dogs learn self-control, and they must be respectful and calm before getting what they want.
First time I am teaching Iggy to wait for food.
Listen to what I say.
Once a dog has walked off PLACE you say NO and guide the dog back if they donāt go when you say NO.

We transitioned Mouse dog over the rainbow after 15 years. I'll see you in our next life.

If you didn't know Mouse dog had a large tumor behind her left eye. She started having seizures last March and we were never able to stop them. In Oct, she had a cluster of seizures one night and spent a few days at the hospital. She came back and started more pills, but the seizures still came about every two weeks and never stopped. She was never quite the same. I was glad she made it to 2022 and that the wheels helped her go on short walks and helped her on the last trip to the beach on Saturday. Mouse loved the beach. The one place I never had an issue with her because she was so happy. I've never had a dog like her. So much anxiety and fear and reactivity to people and other dogs. I worked with her for 8 years until I found a way to truly make her feel safe with balanced training. Mouse is why I help dogs that have the same issues. We helped each other learn so much but now it is time to rest for us both.

Thank you to Hearts & Halos for the peaceful, graceful transition for Mouse.

PERSISTENCE - even if training goes sideways - you get up and start over. In the moment, or day, or months later when stuff doesnāt work.
::
Go back to the basics and your foundation and start again. This is what they need.

We decided to buy Mouse a wheelchair for dogs just to see if it would make her happy to walk around in. I barely got her in it and the straps adjusted and she took off.
Thanks amazing direction book. So easy to understand and so well made. You can tell this product is full of love. š

HAVING A 3 or 4 ft LEASH IS LONG ENOUGH.
::
One dog I trained was on a long leash and the owners asked me to help them keep the dog from eating weird things on the street. First thing I did was fit dog with prong collar and then shortened the leash to 3 feet. Right there half the problem was solved. Next was working on heel and correcting dog eating chicken bones on the ground (cooked chicken bones are hazardous).
::
If you have a hard time keeping your dog close, then work with a shorter leash.
::
You do not need a fancy leash and you can tie a long leash up to be shorter, this is a simple solution to help you keep your dog closer and in control.
::
When your dog is out in front and on a very long line then you have less control of your situations and your dog.
::
Simple things like a short 3 foot leash help keep things close and your able to be more on top of situations with your dog.

Working impulse control with Iggy. Iggy is super excitable when getting fed. Working place while feeding is a great exercise. Keeping your voice, calm and clear. And just slowing down. This takes a lot of self-control for her. Also part of basic foundation for any dog is Place command and food protocol. We are up in Washington state right now at our cabin. #losfelizdogtrainer #studiocitydogtrainer #hollywooddogtrainer #balanceddogtrainingtips
4mm prong collar for dogs with heavy fur around neck. 3.5mm prong for dogs with hair similar to a German shepherd dog fur. 2.5 mm for short hair dogs add prongs if you have a big dog with short lay flat fur. Micro prong for tiny dogs 10-15 lbs If the dog fur or hair gets caught in the prongs then bump up a size. #balanceddogtrainingtips #losfelizdogtrainer #prongcollartraining
Micro prong for tiny dogs 2.25 mm Herm Sprenger for short hair dogs, add links for a bigger neck. 3.5 mm for dogs with longer hair around neck like a shepherd 4 mm only for dogs with extremely thick heavy ruffle of fur around neck like a Great Pyrenees dog. Fit up high on neck behind ears and above any flat buckle collar. Let the dog grab a leash in house with collar on so they can feel it. The more snug the less you need to do to communicate. A small flick of the wrist for some dogs works. Correct to the side, keep dog close but no tension. Guide dog with small justices to let them get used to the collar. If you need to make a correction make sure it is quick and to the side. #losfelizdogtrainer #balanceddogtrainingtips #studiocitydogtrainer #howtobuyaprongcollar #balanceddogtrainingtips
Making dog food for three dogs Iggy canāt have beef, but I can do lamb and turkey, Pearl canāt have turkey. Nelson and Iggy my littles are on only vegetables and meat. Pearl gets pumpkin and quinoa also. The veggies I use beans, zucchini, cooked spinach, and brussels sprouts this time + vitamins, calcium and oil. #rescueoldershelterdogs dog #homemadedogfoodrecipe #balanceddogtrainingtips #lapuppytrainer #losfelizdogtrainer #studiocitydogtrainer #bestdogsever
Canāt tell you how many times I see dogs with short fur walking around with huge prong colors. Sia is a meatball, but she has very short fur and only needs the Herm-Springer 2.5 mm collar. It sits snug and high above her flat buckle collar. We are helping Sia and her parent work on a few things so she is less excited and reactive to other dogs. She is a great dog but we need to be able to communicate and that is what this does for us.
No means No. Little Iggy is a raskle but she did drop it. #balanceddogtrainingtips #losfelizdogtrainer #lapuppytrainer
Little crazy puppy Abby is learning some rules and boundaries. We worked on the door, the crate, place command, and food protocol. All good manners for raising a well-behaved dog so you can have them always be part of the family. #lapuppytrainer #losfelizdogtrainer #balanceddogtrainingtips
Here are my dogs going out the door. See how calm everyone is. This helps set the walk. Practice the door. Sit or wait to walk out calmly. If the dog can't do this, keep practicing the door and ask the dog to give you what you want; when the dog is calm, open the door. Close the door if the dog gets excited, and when the dog is calm, open the door again. Take the time to do this. It works the brain and teaches the dog that it doesnāt get what it wants until it is calm. If you have to shorten your walk, shorten your walk, but spend time at the door. Itās essential if you have an excited dog and issues on your walk. This is the beginning of setting your intentions for the walk and for your dog.
Being purposeful when making a correction. I duplicated the two corrections so you see the difference. Bear is very smart but if you don't want him to pull then you have to show him what you want. Practice and be consistent. This was just an impromptu walk with Bear and Pearl my white Shep. Bear was great on the 30 min. walk we took. And yes it's always us not the dog. Regular people looking for a nice walk. Nothing perfect or at heal just not pulling.
Loose Leash walk with Cute little rescue pug Bear. After getting a few corrections on his walk. Now, he can walk with a loose leash. Sometimes, itās that easy; you simply have to make corrections the dog cares about. Then, be consistent, and donāt let it happen again. The owners have to make the correction the dog cares about and then be consistent.
Working Leo at the door to make sure heās not loading before going on a walk. Working dogs that are aggressive on the leash at the door and making sure everybody is calm and set for the walk is a great practice. You should be able to get out the door without the dog dragging you out and the dog is not in an excited state of mind. Leo is doing well on his walks now, and this was just me doing some extra work at the door trying to figure out if heās loading before going on a walk, even though he doesnāt show many signs. He is a very sensitive and intelligent dog. He seems to be much happier having better communication with everyone about what is expected of him. He still needs to work on people inside the house that he doesnāt know. Heās eyeing my son, who is shooting video, and he was unhappy about him being in the house. I did correct for that behavior in the house. If you can put the foundation in place for a dog, it helps them understand what you expect from them, and it starts to calm the dog because they know what is expected. So Leo has changed significantly in just a couple of sessions and he is only 9m so this is a perfect time to put all this in place before things get worse. @boodogstraining
