Our team at the Arroyo Garden was tidying up the natives plant basin today! Our basin captures plenty of water, especially during all the rain we've been getting recently. To maintain the basin we've been pruning our Sage back to keep our pathways clear. In the future we also plan to use this as an educational space, making our log seats perfect for that!

This circle might be hard to spot in some plants but this is where photosynthesis is happening in this cactus. The cactus itself was hazardous and needed to be removed. After being cut however you can clearly see the ring where xylem and phloem are located which transport water and minerals through the plant.

The bioswale is looking great after the storm! Bioswales capture rainwater to be collected and filtered which reduces runoff, provides water to surrounding plants, and allows rain to replenish the groundwater. We just did some cleanup to make sure the bioswale stays beautiful! 🌧️ 🌱 🌎
