The PLP Holiday Party 2024 rolled into 2025, but that didn’t make it any less enjoyable. In fact, waiting for the holiday madness to be over and taking time to relax at home was just what we needed. I love sharing my work family with my home family and I’m so grateful for both. This year, my kids and their cousins joined the White Elephant game, we honored Shannon’s time at PLP (she’s going to Thailand!), and Mack—our pet Sparrow was the star of the party. Thank you to all of our wonderful clients who help our small business survive and thrive. Happy New Year!

It was 19 years ago that I bought Pour La Pooch. At that time, the three kindest people in the world, pictured here in this photo, were the first to welcome me with open arms to the dog grooming business. There was so much to learn, and they were so generous with their knowledge and training. Since then, many other wonderful humans have worked at PLP, each adding something of themselves to the business, and leaving (if they left) with the knowledge that they cared for many people’s pets and made a difference in people’s lives. When people ask me what the secret is to running a successful small business, I always say that I couldn’t do it without my team. We are all in it together and that’s what makes it successful. I’m forever grateful. Happy 19th Anniversary to us!

It’s hard to be sad about Hallerman and his mom moving out of state when I see her post such a happy photo of him in his new backyard. Hallerman is at least 15 years old (maybe 17?) and he’s been a client for over a decade. I love and appreciate them for all of the years of trust and support they’ve given us—leaving us in charge of Hallerman’s monthly grooms and daycare play dates. If you’ve lived in the Beverly Fairfax district for a minute, you’ve probably walked into one of Steven’s restaurants. When I bought Pour La Pooch almost 20 years ago, Steven was my work neighbor. He owned Cobras and Matadors which was THE coolest place, owned by the coolest guy. And that was how I thought of Steven for a long time. He had the coolest vintage pieces in his businesses and in his home (I remember when he was published in Apartment Therapy). He refurbished and repurposed everything which I always admired. He had the coolest friends and clients, wife and kids. And of course, the food and vibe at his places were cool. But as the years went by, Steven’s zero fu ’s to give persona softened, and I saw a different side of him. We had many conversations about being small business owners, living in LA, and being parents. He told me when he was sick, and said it sucked. I am in awe of how much he accomplished over the last few years. I’m very saddened by his passing, and send thoughts and comfort to his loved ones. RIP Steven.

There’s a reason dogs like coming to PLP daycare. It’s not only to get exercise, see doggy friends, and get out of the house, it’s also to get lots and lots of attention from our loving staff. It’s their home away from home, and that makes us happy. ❤️
