We believe that the happiest and most fun dogs to live with, are dogs who live a balanced and authentic dog life. Dogs are pack animals, who thrive with consistant physical exercise, social stimulation, boundaries and training, and of course play! If dogs don't get these needs met they may exhibit such symptoms as :- Barking/crying, digging, chewing, pacing along fence lines or 'fence fighting' an

d even bouts of aggression. Our mission, is to provide a service to the busy dog lover who wants a happy balanced dog, but doesn't have the time. We pick up your dog for mountain hikes, coastal bicycle runs, beach romps, high energy ball play or long neighborhood walks, depending on what your dog needs. If you're having difficulties with unwanted behaviors, training or fear issues we can identify the problem and show you how these can be corrected. We offer puppy daycare/socialization, and a grooming service, if you'd like us to return your furry baby clean as well. While you're at work, you no longer have to feel guilty that your dog is stuck at home miserable and misbehaving. With us working for you, you'll return home to a happy content dog.

On Saturday I did a private foundational session with Dash and his human mom.
Dash started with classes 4 weeks ago on the 3rd of April. He was 4 1/2 months old and already displaying guarding tendencies. His DNA has a mixture of guarding breeds, without direction his only resource is natural instinct.
At our campus our program works on confidence building, structure, relaxation, trust, boundaries and feeling safe.
The home session was all about showing his dog mom how to create the same environment at home. Showing her how to lead and engage a partnership on the walk, how to claim her own personal space in the home, so he could respect and not own her space. With 2 other dogs in the home, I also showed her how to disagree and set the energy in the home for everyone. We discussed how at times she felt nervous and was unsure about what he would do. I guided her on making confident choices for each situation, taking control and creating the outcome she wanted by creating space for themselves instead of being stuck a waiting to see what would happen. NOT making the choice is the mistake, creating the space and finding your way is the answer. We had a wonderful up time and Dash responded in a confident calm manner.
Jessica has all the abilities Yo be successful in her partnership with a strong bred dog such as Dash, and in doing so he will also give her the tools to be a strong success on her life. Our dogs can teach us how to have boundaries, confidence, inner strength, faith and abilities beyond what we had before meeting them.
Dog spelled backwards is God- this is not a coincidence.

It was a double dose of frenchie trainings today!
1st up was Capone and Nitti, shown in 2nd pic patiently waiting in their crates. These 2 piggies have too much ownership over the entire house and every person who enters. Nitty has severe anxiety which I believe is associated with the stress of the leadership void from the family.
In this first session I showed the family how to implement boundaries for their personal space, create off limit spaces such as the entry way and kitchen by repeating an approach with spacial pressure, teaching them place work and showing them how to invite the crate and release them from the crate. Both dogs catching on well.
This will decrease the aggression in the home as well getting both pups to a place where they feel safe and relaxed, instead of anxious and on guard.
2nd session, pic #1, today was with Winslet & Walnut. They both already have come a long way since starting in classes a couple of months ago. Today was really about tightening up at home. Winslet still needs to drop some of his ownership & guarding tendencies. Rubs his body on owner, sits on her with back to her and constantly in her space etc. We went over strengthening place work, putting in boundaries for personal space. Creating off limit spaces that set Winslet up for feeling the need to guard, and showing family how to nurture trust and vulnerability with the trust/relaxation exercise.
If owners take a lifestyle approach to repeating the new rules, all 4 of these little piggies will be much more pleasurable to share life with.

Home lifestyle training With Amber’s dog mom.
Amber started classes recently and has made so much process. The passing of her co owner and the grief surrounding the loss of a family member has been very difficult for Amber as well as her dog mom. Setting structure in the home with place work, claiming spaces especially intimate elevated spaces such as the couch and bed, while directing her to her many dog beds and crate. Having her practice stillness with no choices in place work will help reset the relationship, going from a weak affectionate follower position to becoming the source of information, direction & boundaries- this equals safety to a dog. Too much freedom with no direction can cause stress to a dog, especially during a highly emotional time of change. So very proud of Andrea for embracing the changes that she has started to make with Amber and delighted to see Amber moving into a healthier, less stressed place! 🐶🎓❤️

‘Welcome Baby’ session this morning with Laguna and her family.
1st baby in the house and they wanted to do it right.

The most important thing to do in the beginning is to have Laguna practice respecting mother and baby’s space. She is apart of this new beginning but at a distance with place-work. Place work will give Laguna a calm space with which she is not required to do anything but experience the new smells, sounds and routine, as a new family.
Laguna has had a history of wanting to guard Colee in the past. It’s important that Laguna does not claim mother and baby’s space by being in it uninvited. They will also put an end to Laguna following them around the house- directed to place when this happens.
Also friends and family will be visiting in the near future and Laguna must respectfully have her place during this time. She will be fulfilled each morning and afternoon with exercise and at home she will be doing a lot of place work. Rules of no furniture, no beds, no bathroom or kitchen will be consistently reinforced.
When walking out with the stroller she will be walking beside Colee and not in front of Josie’s stroller.
Great session of just reminding Colee and Connor to reinforce the house rules, create space for new baby and guide Laguna in her role with the family. Laguna will also keep her schedule of classes at our campus with her Buddy Pinot.
She will be an amazing family companion. Looking forward to seeing Laguna grow with her new girl Josie.

Our process when ending our class is repeated everyday so our dogs learn what we need from them. We do not manage dogs, we work together in an orderly calm fashion systematically Our dogs are amazing because of this! 🐶🎓❤️

Associations: If you are having problems with your dog going crazy on leash when they see another dog, you need to look at what your dog is practicing with other dogs when it comes to socialization. If your dog frequently goes to the dog park or has puppy ‘play dates’ with other dogs where there is complete craziness, excitement, no limits: then you are practicing an association that being with other dogs MEANS excitement, craziness and no limits. Then when you are on walks and they see another dog, that association will kick in and then with the added frustration of being on leash, you will see pandemonium. Being with other dogs should mean a practice of calm and relaxed, going on a walk/hike together or sitting down not interacting while owners have a coffee, this is the type of association you want to practice.
It’s a balance. For every 1 time there is social rough housing there should be at least 10 times there is relaxation of just being together with other dogs..
Remember: What they practice is what they’ll become. If they practice crazy, you are going to get Crazy.

Miss LUNA has been a practicing dedicated DD member for 2 1/2 years. She is one of our best dogs. Recently her owners called with concerning problems at home, guarding issues. After asking questions about her lifestyle and house rules it came to light that this little princess had complete run of the house and chose what and when she did everything. From her behavioral practices it was clear that she was owning everyone’s personal space as well as the entire home. Today I met with the family we implemented house rules that everyone will reinforce as well as having her practice placework during the day when they are not out on her twice daily walks, or doing treadmill or family time in the yard. Her job when there is nothing to do will be place, instead of incessantly following the family members around, laying by the front door or on the furniture. A demotion is what is needed for this girl to get back to relaxing and letting the family lead the way stress free. As long as her family is committed to the rules and consistently follows through on their requests, she will naturally settle. After about a month I will return to do our follow up session. 🐶🎓❤️

Place exercise strengthening with distraction. Clients picking up their dogs is the same scenario as people coming to the home. As you can see the whole exercise is simply me following through and returning Dash to the place when he ‘breaks’ the exercise. The repetition of putting him back is the work that creates the behavior. It’s messy, fiddly and constant, this video was taken over the course of an hour so I edited out the lulls between clients. This is the daily practice that gets you there. 🐶🎓❤️

Apart from all the elements we post on the stories, there is also a discipline that we do with our dogs moving them to and from various stations.
It is pack work with calm transitions. Everything is done in a calm and orderly fashion. We never ‘manage’ dogs. We educate them and practice working as a team.
