The REAL Bark is proudly known as a Non-Profit Rescue that takes on the most difficult of cases. The Paralyzed, and Traumatized have a safe spot with us as we do lengthy rehabilitation with a regular rotating number of special ‘Project Pups.’

From the streets and shelters of Los Angeles, to International dogs in dire need, we humbly – and for years – have been taking discarded, abused, and forgot

ten lives into our own – healing them – and gently placing them back on a path toward a NEW Protected + Celebrated Life. The “REAL” in our Team name stands for:

🚨TRY & SEE THE BEST IN PEOPLE. We Do. Every Day. HOWEVER when you roll up in your car - at night - pull over and take a dog out of your car - TIE IT TO A RAILING and go back, get a bowl and place it, and then get BACK in your vehicle and Drive Away: YOU MAKE IT REALLY HARD. Not only have you just abandoned your dog…but you left them vulnerable to being swarmed by coyotes who are out hunting at night. LUCKY for us, we know GOOD people. And upon discovery, a Quick Plan was formed to get this SWEET kid SAFE for the night before arriving at the vet the next morning. And so it begins.

UPDATE: LOOKIE HERE - IT’S GUINEVERE.
This Warrior. Is this kid not The Cutest?? Guin had a setback, as infection crept into her open wound from when she was alone, brutally injured, and missing most of her leg. Debriding & Drains and new meds - and now her full amputation is HEALING up….and you know what? HAPPY Girl in Every Moment. Giant Thanks to the Doctors, Techs, TRB Team & Cassie who have made Guin’s wellness a priority. And to YOU that have sent the Love & Support Flowing in her magical direction. She’s still at the vet…but making plans to leave soon. We Humans have SO MUCH to learn from animals who Stay Present + Move Forward Past Trauma —> Toward Joy in their Life Journey.

UPDATE: EVERY DAY BRIGHTER. This big SWEET kid that was abandoned in heartbreaking shape is LOVING his every NEW Day. Understanding he is SAFE, Infections getting better under the watchful eyes of epic Fosters Carla & Geoff & their canine + feline Crew.
“Brisket” (vegan style) is enjoying all the New Friends & New Attention he is now getting…and especially LOVES getting read all the Kind Comments from YOU who are following his story. Thanks Y’all.

SURGERY UPDATE: GUINEVERE. Kid made it through surgery! Docs removed her remaining piece of leg up to her shoulder - and this Warrior is so STRONG…yet maintained her JOY. Appetite and Happiness are GOOD after she came out of anesthesia. Guin is still at vet post surgery as there is maintenance, and overnight care, as infection was in her remaining stump, after being traumatized and left surviving in the elements.
It is always so humbling to witness a being that has been brutalized, and left ALONE in the world, who approaches their every moment with Kindness and an almost higher Understanding. Hang on Guin - Keep Forward - you got good-hearted people Cheering You On. Thanks to Joanna, Karla & the entire staff at GSAH for their paternal watch over this Survivor…and to those of YOU that have encouraged her on, shared her story, or have chipped in to her ongoing medical bills. All of it: Seen, Appreciated, and Celebrated. Please keep that LOVE flowing her way. More updates soon!

DAMAGED & DUMPED. Sadly, this boy was abandoned at the shelter - during Guinevere’s emergency LifeSaving. Kid is scissor-cropped ear home-job, SAD, Confused, Terrified, Swollen, Filthy, smelled awful with his poor, handsome face LEGIT peeling OFF in chunks…and strange scars all over his face and body. You know what else? He was wagging his tail, and sad as hell that his person left.
JUST KICK US IN THE HEART ALREADY. Carla quickly went over to him, and said hello - got his info as we had to get Guin to the ER - and said goodbye…
Cut to the shelter letting us know, that their vet was not gonna let beat-up boy stay because he was a medical mess…and that led to a rush to Visit and do a deeper assess…which led to some kennel walk bys…which led to a mini play group …which led to him LEAVING the shelter, and getting a necessary hose down on the way to the vet. Yes. There is stuff. He needs meds and Healing, and Understanding, and Structure BUT he LUCKED up to have two of The Best in The Foster game: Carla & Geoff and their crew, look after him.
UPDATES Soon. Timing is Everything and We Know he’s a fortunate boy ….and he knows he’s a fortunate GOOD & SWEET boy.
It would have been a shame for this hidden gem to be PTS and not show the world how AMAZING he is. But that is state of things today. Want to HELP? UPDATE: SEVERED LIMB STRAY. This girl is so SWEET. Swipe & See. She is STABLE, and responding to treatment. Another HUGE day for her: Covered in filth and fleas, it’s Bath Time. We will get her weight up and ready for her Full Amp of what’s left of her leg.

FAILED BY HER FORMER PEOPLE, this SWEET, SHY kid was left in a crate for DAYS at a time, skinny, terrified and in bad shape. With great thanks to Cris & Gloria, who discovered what was going on, this little girl is headed in a MUCH different direction now with TRB. RESTART: Freshly Groomed, Fostered, Nurtured…and Safe…she now knows there is a whole lotta JOY coming her way. Extra Props to Connie, Clinton, Cris, Gloria & GSAH. ❤️things ahead for Rosalita…

🚨URGENT SURGERY for this SWEET little dumped senior, toothless gal. We scooped her from the shelter RIGHT before they euthed her. A TOTAL doll that LOVES Affection, Other Dogs & LIFE!
We quickly knew Lady Lucy of Dunnart was neglected for years - but what we didn’t know of that she was suffering pyometra, and needs BIG surgery + a mass removal - to get her out of Pain…and start Healing. If YOU are able to kick in a couple dollars toward her costly Surgery, that would be HUGE. There is a LINK in our BIO, a fundraiser on the post…or we are on Venmo.

WHO DOES THIS?!? This beautiful kid was abandoned, tied to a fence on a hot day in a remote part of LA, no chip, intact, and in crap shape. An 🚨 went out and fast acting saints Kim & Seven sped to the scene and scooped this scared boy up to safety and got him right to the vet. No one stepped forward and lucky boy went into Foster with the AMAZING Kim & Fam. Such a nice kid - loves the love - freakin adorable, but scared of some men - which is an indication of his former situation. But he warmed up to Kim’s husband and son. This little handsome Cavalier King Charles is loving his new temp canine friends…and will be a gem WANTED addition to the life of a right-fit, fortunate Adopter. Is that You? BIG HANDSOME KID ALERT: This SWEET Boxer boy was found running around a rough area dodging in and out of traffic. He was in crap shape with sores, pressure wounds, underweight, and intact. No one stepped forward to claim this young guy so he went into nurturing Foster with the AMAZING Wendy, Markus and their three TRB alum Bullies.
Meet Buford D. Light.
EVERYWHERE Buford goes he gains FANS. Really nice kid, and dogs are calmed by his presence. Buford loves to retrieve balls - since his own are now history - cherishes his naps, is a great car rider and really seems to enjoy being bathed…and has developed quite a ‘List’ in his Netflix queue. 🚨NORAH’S FIGHT. WE NEED YOUR GOOD THOUGHTS - PLEASE. You might remember this SWEET blind baby that we rescued from the shelter who has been THRIVING in Foster with Laura, Sean, Sebastian & two pup sibs. A HAPPY growing girl, who does not move in sadness, but BOLDLY. Right NOW Norah Poppy is in the ER fighting kidney disease. It came on quickly and took her down yesterday and she was rushed to ASEC where docs are working on her today. She was lethargic and her values were bad last night…and we are sending her Spirit the reminder of her Warrior Energy.
Truly such a special being we were honored to Rescue when another “rescue” left her behind but took all her no issue siblings. ANY HELP you wish to share we are Open + Grateful. We are on Venmo or directly in our BIO. Huge Kind THANKS.

SWEET SENIOR JOAN WILL JETT INTO YOUR HEART. This Bunny. Joan was rescued from a high-kill county shelter where she sat, alone, scared, and sick, after being found as a neglected senior stray. Her time was up at the shelter and Connie & Clinton were not going to let her story end there. So this adorable 10 year old was thrilled to skip her death sentence and head right to the vet. After much medical help which included the removal of a diseased eye, extensive dental work, and cataract surgery on her good eye, gentle Joan joined the Ashtons and their merry band of cats and dogs with much JOY. LOOKING FOR a local Foster and/or Adopter ready to share some love - and cuddle time - with this easy going gal. Joan likes her walks, her naps, and cuddling up to her foster sibs: dogs, cats, laps, you name it. You ready to open your Heart & Home to someone that needs it, and is so grateful for it?
