The REAL Bark is proudly known as a Non-Profit Rescue that takes on the most difficult of cases. The Paralyzed, and Traumatized have a safe spot with us as we do lengthy rehabilitation with a regular rotating number of special ‘Project Pups.’

From the streets and shelters of Los Angeles, to International dogs in dire need, we humbly – and for years – have been taking discarded, abused, and forgot

ten lives into our own – healing them – and gently placing them back on a path toward a NEW Protected + Celebrated Life. The “REAL” in our Team name stands for:

FAILED BY HER FORMER PEOPLE, this SWEET, SHY kid was left in a crate for DAYS at a time, skinny, terrified and in bad shape. With great thanks to Cris & Gloria, who discovered what was going on, this little girl is headed in a MUCH different direction now with TRB. RESTART: Freshly Groomed, Fostered, Nurtured…and Safe…she now knows there is a whole lotta JOY coming her way. Extra Props to Connie, Clinton, Cris, Gloria & GSAH. ❤️things ahead for Rosalita…

🚨URGENT SURGERY for this SWEET little dumped senior, toothless gal. We scooped her from the shelter RIGHT before they euthed her. A TOTAL doll that LOVES Affection, Other Dogs & LIFE!
We quickly knew Lady Lucy of Dunnart was neglected for years - but what we didn’t know of that she was suffering pyometra, and needs BIG surgery + a mass removal - to get her out of Pain…and start Healing. If YOU are able to kick in a couple dollars toward her costly Surgery, that would be HUGE. There is a LINK in our BIO, a fundraiser on the post…or we are on Venmo.

WHO DOES THIS?!? This beautiful kid was abandoned, tied to a fence on a hot day in a remote part of LA, no chip, intact, and in crap shape. An 🚨 went out and fast acting saints Kim & Seven sped to the scene and scooped this scared boy up to safety and got him right to the vet. No one stepped forward and lucky boy went into Foster with the AMAZING Kim & Fam. Such a nice kid - loves the love - freakin adorable, but scared of some men - which is an indication of his former situation. But he warmed up to Kim’s husband and son. This little handsome Cavalier King Charles is loving his new temp canine friends…and will be a gem WANTED addition to the life of a right-fit, fortunate Adopter. Is that You? BIG HANDSOME KID ALERT: This SWEET Boxer boy was found running around a rough area dodging in and out of traffic. He was in crap shape with sores, pressure wounds, underweight, and intact. No one stepped forward to claim this young guy so he went into nurturing Foster with the AMAZING Wendy, Markus and their three TRB alum Bullies.
Meet Buford D. Light.
EVERYWHERE Buford goes he gains FANS. Really nice kid, and dogs are calmed by his presence. Buford loves to retrieve balls - since his own are now history - cherishes his naps, is a great car rider and really seems to enjoy being bathed…and has developed quite a ‘List’ in his Netflix queue. 🚨NORAH’S FIGHT. WE NEED YOUR GOOD THOUGHTS - PLEASE. You might remember this SWEET blind baby that we rescued from the shelter who has been THRIVING in Foster with Laura, Sean, Sebastian & two pup sibs. A HAPPY growing girl, who does not move in sadness, but BOLDLY. Right NOW Norah Poppy is in the ER fighting kidney disease. It came on quickly and took her down yesterday and she was rushed to ASEC where docs are working on her today. She was lethargic and her values were bad last night…and we are sending her Spirit the reminder of her Warrior Energy.
Truly such a special being we were honored to Rescue when another “rescue” left her behind but took all her no issue siblings. ANY HELP you wish to share we are Open + Grateful. We are on Venmo or directly in our BIO. Huge Kind THANKS.

SWEET SENIOR JOAN WILL JETT INTO YOUR HEART. This Bunny. Joan was rescued from a high-kill county shelter where she sat, alone, scared, and sick, after being found as a neglected senior stray. Her time was up at the shelter and Connie & Clinton were not going to let her story end there. So this adorable 10 year old was thrilled to skip her death sentence and head right to the vet. After much medical help which included the removal of a diseased eye, extensive dental work, and cataract surgery on her good eye, gentle Joan joined the Ashtons and their merry band of cats and dogs with much JOY. LOOKING FOR a local Foster and/or Adopter ready to share some love - and cuddle time - with this easy going gal. Joan likes her walks, her naps, and cuddling up to her foster sibs: dogs, cats, laps, you name it. You ready to open your Heart & Home to someone that needs it, and is so grateful for it? UPDATE! Norah has met multiple vets, but this visit with Dr. Hoffman at Eye Care For Animals literally shined a light on this baby’s road ahead:
Norah will never see. Not shapes, not light. Nothing. Her little eyes did not develop properly. And while that was originally a bit of a punch to hear, it just clarified what needs to happen. Norah was in temp loving foster with JP, Marc and their crew - including vision impaired Duchess aka “Circles.” And now moved into foster with Laura, Sean & Sebastian. Norah is on multiple meds addressing infections. Getting her stable and helping her understand what routines FEELS like. Next Norah will be working with a trainer, and with equipment that assist blind dogs, but honestly, to watch her Navigate and Negotiate around new spaces and with dogs ten times her size, is its own WONDER.
Norah is not sad. This is all she has ever known. There will be challenge…but we are here for it.
Not lost on us that a “rescue” took all her siblings and left her to die because she is different. And yet we took her BECAUSE she is Special, vulnerable, in Need…and now CELEBRATED daily.

📢UPDATE: SAFE! SHE’S HERE. LET’S BEGIN. This beautiful, gentle,special girl has left the shelter - scooped into our arms, yesterday. We SO APPRECIATE You ALL rooting for her. We can tell you she is even cuter in person…WAY affectionate, and a cheerful trooper, NOT slowed by her lack of vision. We think she can see LIGHT. Something. We will find out. This is now the beginning. Back to vet on Monday and then heading to a specialist, soon, to discover “where” we are and… if whatever procedures might assist this baby’s life.

DEREK DIAMOND DOES DAPPER. Look at this handsome kid! Derek was a stray pup living life on his own in central California. No one came to claim him from our friends in Tulare. So Derek joined us at TRB and got healthy, and all his mats cut off, and is ready for his Modeling Agent. Adorable, Funny, Happy, and Charming, just under two-year-old. WATCHING THE DETECTIVES: Handsome Lowrider, Det. Tony Baretta, was found wandering through traffic…went to the shelter…and no one came to claim him. So, young Tony came back to TRB, joined a trainer’s Pack, and has been enjoying Investigating New Life, Friendship, and looking forward to the day he can get HOME to a new Adoptive Fam. Tony is cool, funny, and is a big dog wrapped in tiny body. He LOVES his walks and hikes, and really wants to be part of a precinct of fine folks. DM for interest - or to help find Tony his peeps. UPDATE: HIT BY CAR & LEFT ROADSIDE, this HANDSOME and unbelievably sweet pup came to us from Tulare in need of a Life Turnaround. And that is just what happened. After amputation and Healing, Cowboy Bodhi went right into the most Loving arms of Caity & Shane, who has recently lost their beloved MAGIC, Sir Duke, whom we were honored to rescue. Bodhi needed a good ten to fifteen minutes to convey to these AMAZING humans that need needed them and much as they needed him. So this last pic, sets the record for how Family Happens.

UPDATE: EPIC RECOVERY - HE MADE IT!!! Swipe & See. Remember handsome little Harold Fitzgerald, a stray pup from Tulare? Poor kid broke with Parvo, and it was DEVASTATING. Straight to the ER and there for 9 DAYS! - We literally almost lost him. Harold’s desire to be here combined with all the LOVE being sent his way, and his amazing Foster fam, brought the Miracle we all so needed.
Once healed, Harold met the loveliest, compassionate, fun & athletic Fam, and they fell deep for this little star. Now no longer little, he will always be their baby…and someone we are so grateful to have helped LIVE.

This is Fable, and he and his tall twining brother Falkor kinda are pushing past handsome…and into the realm of Stunning. These young gents look like leggy mythical creatures one might find in The NeverEnding Story. Both SO SWEET, and thoughtful, and engaged, and some lucky someone will be elated to make them Family. Fable got gold stars on his cat test, and despite being green to the ways of the world, picks up cues naturally, and is quite the Cuddle Bud. Like the recent Dumped Pup we just posted - that moved to QUICK Foster (giant thanks to all that wrote with offers to help) these SWEET pups are ABANDONED & STRAY babies that NEED FOSTER or ADOPTIVE HOMES - URGENTLY. They are all Kind, Adorable, and have been failed by humans.

- 4/5 month old 26 lb Terrier/Airedale. Shy, kind girl.

- 5 year old handsome red headed male 13lbs was living in a homeless encampment in a tent along WITH SEVEN PITBULLS.

WOW! BRAVE SURVIVOR: SWEET & LUCKY CATALINA IS EXCITED to meet new folks at our weekend Event with Subaru, on Oct 21st in Monrovia. This 3 year old beauty was found RUNNING DOWN A FREEWAY in central Cali. A trucker scooped her up and took this heavily pregnant girl to a vet. Catalina gave birth to four healthy pups that are now all grown and, this young, petite Lab mix is looking for a Family of her own. Poor baby is cracked and bleeding all over from advanced mange, with ear & eye infections, worms, and sickly. Yet still SWEET. Grateful to be partnering with three other Rescues, and we are all taking one, to focus some desperately needed attention to. Exact age is unknown since he is in such bad shape, but def a puppy. Marvel is one of our newest Project Pups...and he had his first session at California Animal Rehabilitation. Little man is already a whopping FOUR POUNDS, and as adorable as ever. UPDATE ON FOUND FRIEND: "STABLE." All those Good Vibes you sent are working. Little old man is resting much more comfortably and we are thrilled. He is a senior gent, with bad eyes and a mouth full of rotten teeth, but responding to treatment at the vet. Yesterday after lifted to safety, he went fully unconscious and it looked pretty dire. Now that we can exhale a bit for a sec, we want to HONOR those that made this rescue a reality. And we need to profess our Love for all things New Zealand, since stellar David, who scooped this poor little guy out of complete peril in triple digit heat, as well as Aaron & Maddie who rushed him to vet are all Kiwis! Heroes. Excellent work y'all! Poor little man as you can see here, was weak and disoriented and dehydrated but thankfully not hit by a car - though that is a miracle. Slow and Steady and we will keep you updated on him. Right now he is resting at the vet. Thanks to all with hands on - and hands together in prayer & energy. AMAZING SURVIVOR: HER WILL IS STRONG, and her desire to KEEP GOING is EPIC. We are excited to get Warrior Wynnie her new LEG & FOOT for her two back limbs - and help her to get through Life a little easier. Therapy Coming. Tragedy & Horrific Pain & Loss are what Wynnie lived through when she was drug behind a car and lost her limbs - but BRAVERY, DETERMINATION & HOPE is where she now Lives.
