The REAL Bark is proudly known as a Non-Profit Rescue that takes on the most difficult of cases. The Paralyzed, and Traumatized have a safe spot with us as we do lengthy rehabilitation with a regular rotating number of special ‘Project Pups.’

From the streets and shelters of Los Angeles, to International dogs in dire need, we humbly – and for years – have been taking discarded, abused, and forgot

ten lives into our own – healing them – and gently placing them back on a path toward a NEW Protected + Celebrated Life. The “REAL” in our Team name stands for:

🚨THIS POOR KIDDO: GRAPHIC PIC WARNING. This tiny, eight week old baby, was DUMPED in the front of the shelter doors - before opening - with these HORRIFIC BITES to his head. The hell is WRONG with people?! First vet to see thinks a larger dog attacked, causing the trauma. We are on board to get this kid further vetted STAT, pain free, and on the road to wellness. FREEWAY SAVE. WHOA. This sweet gent was literally plucked off the freeway last night. He ran up an onramp and onto the freeway and was nearly hit right away - car swerved, and a van slammed brakes, and others followed, and a brave young lady visiting LA, dangerously got out the van and chased him - scooped him - wrapped him in a towel, and drove to the store for help. Her mother didn’t want the scared, lost dog in her van, so she placed him in our arms and headed out. This cute pup is SO nice, had every opportunity to bite, being that frightened, but there was none of that….only a desire to climb up onto laps.
If he is not claimed by his owner, we will need a local foster for this Sweet SURVIVOR. Please consider fostering. We provide everything.
Thanks out to this special young human whose heart is what we need more of, to who always go the kind + ethical route…and to Tamara for stepping right in to help begin this process with integrity and so much compassion.

BEAUTIFUL: MUST SEE MAGIC. Beyond Being Handsome, Blind & Deaf DOVE also owns a MAGIC & MYSTERY when you meet him. So, kinda like, shaking hands with a Unicorn. 💔LITTLE ADORABLE & SWEET TRIPOD, OLIVIA KEANE LOST HER FAMILY, when they had to move into assisted living. Olivia was MUCH LOVED, and it hurts that they are missing their baby…But we PROMISED to make sure the rest of her long life would be a Celebration of Joy & Inclusion with a New Fam. We met him back when, and were SURE someone would scoop up this dreamboat…but no one did. BEFORE WE MET: Brisket’s life was pain, neglect, abuse, and then disposal. His spirit broken. His eyes resigned. That heartbreaking point - and we SEE IT in their faces - when an animal *thinks* NOTHING will ever get better. BUT IT DID, for Brisket!… as it did for MANY this year, because of the work we are honored to do @ TRB.

GOOD NIGHT AND FAREWELL, SWEET RUFFLES. She tried. We tried. All of Us. And despite tremendous vetting and so many dedicated to getting Ruffles well…her sickly and long neglected senior body just could not abide…and we are gutted…so sad to bring you this news. TRB knows her little, beautiful soul touched a lot of you - and for that we are GRATEFUL. We celebrate the many hands and hearts in the shelter, at the vets, and within our Team, who let Ruffles Rufus KNOW she was seen and WANTED, and mattered. Thank You.
And as her Life left, her Light never will, and we will carry it forward in our continued commitment to advocate for the elderly and abused. The forgotten and the unwanted. Ruffles will INSPIRE more Rescue and more Life-Saving, as she joins our many beloved companions, gifting & guiding our hearts from above.

Know this: her 3rd time at the shelter & the vets - 16 year old Ruffles had a community around her. She was held often…and told how adored she was. Our Team was at the vets holding her between and during treatments - because it was important that she knew. And she did. And - we believe - that is why she felt, finally safe to journey HOME.

🚨RUFFLES IN ER: COME ON SWEET GRANDMA. We prefer bringing the Happy….but this is the REAL. 16 Year old Ruffles Rufus took a turn while at the vet, and completely stopped eating - so we moved her to the Emergency Vet @ LAASER to get a feeding tube started. Yes Ruffles has Pancretitis, Kidney Disease, Dental Disease, is underweight, and has back pain…AND YET is THE KINDEST lady. OUR GOAL is to get her back to stable, so we can get her in a Loving Foster, and SPOILED as F for whatever earthly time she has. Ruffles has been failed by humans Over & Over - and wouldn’t it be nice for her to know what Love, Safety & HOME feel like? Finally. And that she Deserves it? Not the BS that followed her through life. A New Final Chapter titled “BLISS.”
