Mango is a 2 year old American Shorthair who began post-op rehabilitation following his FHO (Femoral Head Ostectomy) surgery on his hip in February of this year. Multiple of our staff members are Fear Free Certified and Certified Cat Friendly Veterinary Professionals, ensuring a positive and stress-free experience for cats in our clinic. Brahms is makin’ waves! 🌊 Brahms is a charming 7 year old chihuahua mix who has been a patient of ours since April 2022. He started coming to PAW Rehab because he had medial luxating patellas (or MPLs), commonly known as “floating kneecaps”. His left knee was surgically corrected, and his right knee is being managed through rehabilitation, including hydrotherapy for strengthening. His owners report him doing great at home and we wanted to show him off, rocking it in the underwater treadmill! #pawrehab #caninerehabilitation #hydrotherapy #hydrotherapyfordogs #underwatertreadmillfordogs #chihuahuamix
Our spotlight this week is Frankie 🌟 Frankie is a West Highland White Terrier who is almost 4 years old. She has been coming to us since 2021 for Hip Dysplasia and Degenerative Joint Disease (DJD). She has improved so much that she is now on a maintenance plan. With her improved comfort, we have been able to progress her in-clinic program to focus on more strengthening exercises and maintaining her joint range. Frankie is always so excited to give us kisses every time she comes in for her sessions. We are so proud of her and love seeing her adorable face here at PAW Rehab! #pawrehab #caninerehabilitation #westhighlandwhiteterrier #hipdysplasia #degenerativejointdisease
Have you been interested in alternative pain relief options for your pet? Here at PAW Rehab, we often utilize a non-pharmaceutical therapy called Pulsed Electromagnetic Field Therapy, or PEMF. PEMF is non-invasive, and is one of the many modalities we can use in-clinic for pain relief. Adorable Miss Moyer is enjoying her cold compress (and chin scratches) during her PEMF treatment! 🐶 #pawrehab #caninerehabilitation #pemf #pemftherapy #americanpitbullterrier
This week’s patient spotlight is Mr. Cary Grant! Cary is a dapper cocker spaniel who started with us for post-op rehabilitation after a hemilaminectomy spinal surgery. During his rehab sessions, we often use resistance bands, which provide resistance to enhance strengthening and in some cases can help correct limb placement. Some patients may not be candidates for this therapy, and it should only be performed by a trained rehab professional. Not only is proper use important for best results, but it ensures our furry friends avoid fatigue or injury! With continued therapy, Cary is now able to stand and walk with better posture and for longer periods of time. We always look forward to seeing his handsome face! 💕#caninerehabilitation #pawrehab #americancockerspaniel #resistancebands #resistancebandtraining

Hey there Delilah!
Delilah is a 12 year old golden retriever who has discomfort in her elbows and hips, due to degenerative joint disease and hip dysplasia. She joined our PAW Rehab family in September to help with pain relief and to improve her mobility. One of the ways the doctor recommended to help her is known as “shockwave therapy”, more specifically known as Extra-Corporeal Shockwave Therapy (ECSWT).
ECSWT is a non-invasive modality which uses pulses of focused sound waves that penetrate into the tissue. This helps to increase blood flow to the area and provide pain relief. The beneficial effects after a few treatments can have a potential long lasting duration of several weeks to months.
Delilah just finished her 6th shockwave session this week. We have gotten reports from her owners that she is doing better at home, having an easier time getting in and out of the car and using stairs. We are so glad to see her improving, especially this week, which she celebrated both her 12th birthday and her anniversary of 8 years since she was adopted by her family! 🎉

Giovanni’s Laser Acupuncture!
Dr. Bak and Giovanni are best friends! 🥰
Gio is a handsome pitbull terrier who has been a patient of PAW Rehab since July of 2017. Gio has arthritis in his elbows and knees, and has ruptured his cranial cruciate ligaments (CCLs) in both of his knees. These issues are being conservatively managed with in-clinic therapies, including laser acupuncture, pictured here!
Laser acupuncture is a modified form of traditional acupuncture, both of which are methods of pain relief. Acupuncture is an effective tool for the management of chronic disease and has also been known to have a calming effect. Laser acupuncture uses infrared light to help aid in needle-less stimulation. Both versions of acupuncture are performed by a veterinarian, and is used to reduce inflammation, increase circulation and can help stimulate the nervous system.
We are so glad knowing we can continue to help Gio feel more comfortable, and we know Dr. Bak is always happy to see him!

National Veterinary Technician Week!
What is National Veterinary Technician Week — and more importantly, why do we celebrate it?
The 3rd week of October has been set aside as National Veterinary Technician Week (NVTW) to celebrate, recognize, and promote the valuable contributions Credentialed Veterinary Technicians make to the veterinary profession and to society.
This year, we celebrate 30 years of NVTW! We are lucky to have two of the best RVT’s we could ask for: Rhianna and Colleen. The dedication and passion they show here at PAW Rehab makes such a difference in our patient care — join us in thanking them for their amazing work! 👏🏼

Take a peek at Booboo’s rehab session! 🫶🏼Booboo is a labradoodle who is almost 13 years old; she first came to us last December with lower back pain and hind limb weakness. Her rehab sessions always start with a warm-up, including massage, and then we perform her therapeutic exercises. We wrap up her sessions with laser therapy and often acupuncture to help with pain management! Since starting with us, Booboo’s lower back pain has resolved at this time and her conscious awareness of her back legs has improved. We are looking forward to seeing her smiling face again soon!#pawrehab #caninerehabilitation #caninemassage #labradoodle
What is Hydrotherapy?💧
What is Hydrotherapy?💧
Hydrotherapy at PAW Rehab utilizes an underwater treadmill to allow for low-impact exercise that is less stressful on pets’ joints and can be soothing. This type of therapy can aid in recovery post-injury, helping with strength and balance.
Featuring this week’s superstar: Atticus!
Atticus became paralyzed in his hind limbs in July of this year and shortly after had a left hemilaminectomy, a surgery commonly performed to correct slipped or herniated discs in the spine. We had the pleasure of meeting him in August, and he started hydrotherapy early September. This video shows Atticus’ first hydrotherapy session a few weeks ago, where our assistant April was helping range his limbs. He has already made progress since then — wanting to stand more at home, and beginning to try to posture again to go potty. We are so proud of the improvements we have seen in him already!
