After 9 years of Exide cleanup, our ongoing Get The Lead Out soil sampling project with & confirmed “cleaned” homes still have high levels of lead & the contamination zone may be 7 times larger!
As impacted communities we demand the current cleanup contractors be replaced, a reassessment & improvement or removal of DTSC’s oversight, & a recommitment from the state to a complete and comprehensive cleanup of ALL of our impacted communities!
We invite all impacted community members to join us Monday, February 13 at 6pm (➡️swipe for flier) for a community meeting at the USC Health Sciences Campus (registration link in bio) where we will share our findings and dialogue as community members to create an action plan. Contact us directly if you live within 4.5 miles of the Exide site and would like us to sample your soil.
Also, read the article “California’s biggest environmental cleanup leaves lead contamination and frustration” (link in bio) that includes part of our research, lifts up the experiences of our members, and shares months of their journalist’s work exposing DTSC and the cleanup contractors.

FYI our beloved urban community garden El Hoyo del Eastside Mott Street is also found toxic lead and arsenic from the Exide Battery plant as you see our urban farmer and coordinate Miguel taking the soil samples on the article photo.
