Hermon Dog Park is tucked away in the historic Hermon community by the Arroyo Seco in North East Los Angeles. You’ll make new friends while your dogs play with you and all kinds of new buddies. The decomposed granite surface means your dogs can play just hours after a rain shower with no muddy paws. It’s naturally flea resistant and its maintenance won’t close down the park. Double gates, shaded be
nches, water fountains, doggie waste bags, a large dog area and a small/shy dog area all provide for your comfort and safety. At Hermon Dog Park, dogs leave good and tired; people leave relaxed. WE WORK TO KEEP THE PARK's ENVIRONMENT SAFE AND HEALTHY
We’ve held park clean-up’s, sanitizing benches and trash can lids, and provide bio-degradable doggie waste bags in the dog park and around the adjoining Arroyo Seco water area.A disaster plan for the dog park area has been developed, complete with a seminar and drill on emergency preparedness for pets and pet first aid. WE TEACH RESPONSIBLE PET OWNERSHIP
The Friends of Hermon Dog Park e-newsletter “Tails...from Hermon Dog Park” gives current information about the dog park, local opportunities for affordable spay-neuter, vaccines and micro-chipping, pet education and fun, pet-centric events. The last Sunday of the month “Yappy Hours” give dog park users a chance to socialize, get helpful pet information and network with other dog lovers. The HOWL-oween Peanut Butter Lick-Off and Doggie Dress-Up Contest, as well as marching with your dogs in the annual North East Los Angeles Holiday Parade as the “Santa Paws Squad” are events not to be missed! WE FURTHER HUMANE EDUCATION
Ongoing “Pet Ed” seminars at the dog park have covered pertinent topics such as pet loss, dog training, and emergency preparedness for pets. We’ve proudly partnered with Noah’s Wish, disaster pet rescue pioneers in bringing Disaster Animal Response Team (DART) training to Los Angeles for the very first time. We’ve made them available for questions at “Yappy Hours”, “Pet Ed” seminars and our pet adoption events. Dog trainers have served on our Board of Directors, and a specially trained therapy dog from the Hermon Dog Park is now featured on our website. WE ORGANIZE SPAY/NEUTER AND ADOPTION EVENTS
The Friends of Hermon Dog Park advocates spay/neuter to reduce pet overpopulation and adoption to provide forever homes to the most vulnerable pets. We have held successful free mobile spay/neuter clinics at the dog park and numerous adoption events both at the dog park and at our local animal shelter. THE FRIENDS OF HERMON DOG PARK EXISTS TO ENHANCE THE DOG PARK
We’ve added more rustic shade trees and placed iconic river rocks around the base of their trunks inside the dog park. Local artist Jolino Beserra is creating a 9-foot high mosaic dog sculpture done in the wildly colorful Oaxacan – style, embedded with personal mementos from our dog park dogs, to be placed near the entrance to the dog park. This project’s funding was awarded to the Friends of Hermon Dog Park by the Los Angeles Office of Community Beautification, Department of Public Works. Hermon Dog Park is located at 5568 Via Marisol, Los Angeles 90042 (between Monterey Road and the Arroyo Seco Parkway/110 Pasadena Freeway). Exit Via Marisol and turn right. Turn left into the Hermon Park driveway and go to the end of the parking lot. Walk under the overpass and you’ve arrived. Hermon Dog Park is open dawn ‘til dusk, every day. www.hermondogpark.org
