East Valencia Urban Gardens Program - EVUGP

East Valencia Urban Gardens Program - EVUGP Supporting communities in Valencia County develop a more resilient food system, by increasing community vegetable gardens, backyard gardens and farms.

The East Valencia Urban Gardens Program (EVUGP) works with communities to improve health, economic and environmental conditions for communities in Valencia County through increasing opportunities for local vegetable and fruit gardens, farms and farmer's markets. EVUGP works with the entire community, wherever a need is expressed, and there is also an emphasis of increasing opportunities for youth

and young adults. EVUGP projects are community-led with community consensus to ensure that projects address all concerns community members voice. Examples of projects that may start are: community gardens, backyard gardens, education gardens for youth, community/individual market farms, connecting farmers to un-used land, developing support for new economical ventures in sustainable foods, etc. Please contact EVUGP today with feedback on what you would like see for your family and community!

El Programa de Jardines Urbanos del Este de Valencia (EVUGP) colabora con las comunidades para mejorar las condiciones sanitarias, económicas y medioambientales de las comunidades del condado de Valencia a través de mayores oportunidades para los huertos locales de frutas y hortalizas, granjas y mercados de agricultores. EVUGP trabaja con toda la comunidad, dondequiera que se exprese una necesidad, y también hay un énfasis en el aumento de oportunidades para jóvenes y adultos jóvenes. The Community Gardens at Meadow Lake and El Cerro are thriving, and our produce is flourishing!

Both garden managers are planning to hire youth aged 14 and up to assist for two hours per week. This opportunity will provide them with valuable knowledge about food cultivation and land stewardship.
