There’s a new advanced horse in the barn 🤩 Reg the Ledge lived up to his name conquering his first Advanced this weekend at Carolina International! We finished in 8th with just time added to his dressage score in a very competitive division.

We had a toasty 🥵 weekend showing at Full Moon Farm with 5 horses! They did a great job of prepping the footing for this event, which was a treat for July eventjng.
Myself on Carol McRoy’s Menlo Park won the training division with another bold xc. Kara Googins on Huckleberry’s Bro took on the training despite some wicked heat sickness for Kara; they had a good dressage and clean stadium, but unfortunately a surprised stop at the sunken road where Kara opted to retire. Kate Holzrichter rode Zoomer for a nice 4th in the novice and 3 solid phases! Avery Spagnolo competed After Eight for a great first two phases, but some hesitation issues on the novice XC. I rode my own Venezuelan River to a 4th on his dressage score in the open novice. Student Jeannette Lussi also had a great day in the BN for a 3rd!

It was great to see and visit Paul from VTO SADDLERY there, and Martha with DEVOUCOUX as well! Thank you for your support of our area events and my team!

Earlier in June we had a lovely outing at Loch Moy Farm USDF Summer II show with Karen O’Brien riding her own Boni Cesar, and myself on Jenna Zurenko’s Coeur D’Or, and Lucia Casale’s Cavaliere M. Coeur D’Or decided to throw in some “extra credit” movements at this show in several of his tests 🤣.
Here were our results!

- Tracey/Cavaliere 2-2 66.58% 1st place
- Karen/Boni T-1 66.3% 1st place
- Tracey/Encore 1-1 64.8% 3rd place
- Tracey/Encore 1-3 64.1% 5th place
- Tracey/Cavaliere 3-2 61.3% 1st place
- Karen/Boni T-3 60.5% 4th place
- Tracey/Cavaliere 3-1 60% 2nd place

We had another busy week of shows last week!
We took on Plantation Field HT on Saturday with 1 horse in the novice and 3 in the training. Tracey’s own Venezuelan River completed his second ever recognized event and was very well behaved in the novice. Tracey rode Carol McRoy’s Menlo Park to a top 10 finish in the open training. Students Hillary Marnane and Kara Googins had a bit do a learning day but are ready to come back attacking at the next one!
Sunday Tracey rode Karen O’Brien’s Boni Cesar at the VADANOVA USDF show at Morven Park earning two blues in his second level classes.
Wednesday Kate Holzrichter rode the famous Zoomer to a win in the Loch Moy Twilight training division, and Shawna Newsome put her best 3 phases together yet for a 2nd place in the novice there.

We had an amazing weekend at the end of May at one of our very favorite events, Virginia Horse Trials !! We always enjoy this event with its beautiful views, and adorable downtown. Plus, we get several days in a row to shop at VTO Saddlery !!
Here was our results:

Kayla McLaughlin continued her success on Deneb as a new rider and horse to our sport with some of the best jumping she has done! We’ve worked hard on her horses rideability, and things are starting to come together.

Hillary Marnane contested the novice as her first show back out this year, and had three stellar phases to end in 6th!

Kate Holzrichter returned from college and hopped on an open novice catch ride, taking my own Zoomer for a spin. She had a little too much speed on XC to earn a ribbon but had a blast on my old cross country machine.

Kara Googins made a bold move up to training level, and nailed it with excellent dressage and stadium. A bit of surprise for Pascal’s brain at the first combination lead to a stop, but it would be too easy if you won your first training, wouldn’t it?

I rode my own Venezuelan River at his first recognized event, and first traveling show for an awesome 2nd place in the novice horse We earned my personal best completion score of 25.6!
I also showed Menlo Park at his first travel show, and moved from novice lebel to his first training at the last minute(Saturday morning!). He stepped up happily to the challenge of the new level and finished in 9th in the open training.

We’ve had a busy few days! Today my assistant Arielle Alpert showed Karen O’Brien’s Whisper Wind to earn 2nd place in their first attempts at 2nd level dressage together (2-1 & 2-2) at the VADA NOVA USDF show! I rode Karen O’Brien’s Boni Cesar to earn 1st in those same 2nd level classes (sorry Arielle, stuck competing against your coach!).

Sunday Karen showed Boni Cesar herself to earn 3rd and 4th in her training level classes at the PVDA USDF show at Morven Park! I also rode Jenna Zurenko’s Coeur d’Or to win the 1-1 and TOC classes, and also reserve high score for first level. Reg the Ledge showed in the 4-1 and PSG, where we earned the final score needed for my USDF silver medal!

Saturday at Waredaca Kara Googins earned 1st place in the novice rider group! In that same group, Avery Spagnolo earned 4th on my OTTB After Eight, and Shawna Newsome had an educational day on Eleganze. In the novice horse group I rode Carol McRoy’s Menlo Park and my own Venezuelan River to 1st & 3rd. In the beginner novice student Madeline Radosevik earned 2nd !

May 7th we braved the sideways rain with some novice horses; Kara Googins, Carol McRoy and I took on the wet combined test at Waredaca with good success. But being very bummed about the cross country understandably cancelled, we popped those horses into the following weekends event.

I am so behind on updates!!! Here’s a recap of our April activities !

Easter weekend Reg the Ledge completed a tough Fairhill International CIC3*S to end in 9th.

April 23 we showed at USDF at Loch Moy Farm with Cavaliere M owned by Lucia Casale, Cours D’Oure owned by Jenna Zurenko, Karen O’Brien riding Boni Cesar, Arielle Alpert riding Whisperwind. We had some great tests and top placings!

April 24 we went to Plantation Field HT with Carol McRoy riding Menlo Park, Kara Googins riding Huckleberry’s Bro and Kayla McLaughlin riding Deneb for some excellent rides. Kara finished 3rd on her dressage score and Kayla 8th.

April 27 I took Reg the Ledge owned by Lucia Casale and Boni Cesar owned by Karen O’Brien to By Chance USDF show where Reg and I competed in our first FEI dressage class. He earned 4th in the Prix St George and 1st in 4-1. Boni moved to second level, winning his classes for 2-1 and 2-2.

AND we’re back to competing in area 2!!! The TBE crew did their debut area 2 event last weekend with many successes!
Saturday Tracey and Reg the Ledge had a solid 3 phases returning to the intermediate level to earn 4th in the OI.
Student Kayla McLaughlin also showed in the BN, with a great dressage test, an epic save off of a big jump spot in stadium(but still clean!) and a good xc round with just a green moment at the water for her TB.
Sunday students Kara Googins and Carol McRoy took on their first novice level competitions with their TB mounts Huckleberry’s Bro and Menlo Park. Both horses were well behaved on the flat, and jumped clean around all jumping phases! Carol finished in 5th in the novice horse, and Kara 6th in the novice rider!

Our students also had an amazing weekend at Loch Moy 1. Working student Kate Holzrichter finished on her dressage score to earn 2nd in the training. Shawna Newsome did her first ever recognized event aboard Zoomer to earn 5th on her dressage score. Also in that division Hillary Marnane ended on her dressage score for 3rd. Kara Googins and Pascal earned a 3rd place finish in the beginner novice on their dressage score. Kristen Lonegro hiked all the way from New York to join us and complete the beginner novice as her first recognized show of the season!

Reg the Ledge successfully completed his first CCI3*S this weekend at the The Maryland Horse Trials @ Loch Moy Farm with qualifying scores! We have plenty of work to do to tune things up, but I’m super proud of his efforts on a pretty tough riding course today. Last weekend at the PVDA Ride for Life USDF show, I put my fancy pants on to ride a whopping 17 tests, on 6 different horses. I’ve learned I need to compete against myself less often, as each class I was in on different horses, we came in 1-2 finish 🤣. We had a BUSY weekend in dressage land at PVDA Ride for Life! Here is a summary of how our students did:

- Cheryl Lancaster & Hannah completed their 3rd USDF show together this weekend, earning in their training level tests: 70%/1st , 68%/1st, 67.3%/3rd, 65.4%/1st.

- Arielle Alpert completed her first USDF show aboard the best horse in the world, my own Zoomer, earning: 66.9%/2nd in first level test 3, and 63.1/2nd in second level test 1. This earns her two steps towards her bronze!

- Natalie De Pinto completed her first USDF show on her young thoroughbred Huck, earning the following: Training level test 1: 62.5%/2nd, 68%/2nd. And in Intro test C: 66.5%/2nd, 68%/2nd.

Super proud of everyone on these HOT days in a big atmosphere! I’ll list my own rides in their own post… since there were a lot of them.

We had a lovely pop around the Seneca Valley Pony Club Horse Trials’ Bittersweet Field today with everything from first timers to seasoned campaigners! We are so lucky to have such a beautiful venue nearby.
