Nonifarm

Nonifarm Our name reflects the spirit and legacy of nonifarm’s forebearer Nancy “Noni” Ebeltoft Weber. nonifarm horses live out in the fields 24/7.
(2)

Our artistic equine refuge is born out of Noni’s creativity and dedication making our 30-acre horse farm an idealistic retreat for equines who outlast their owners or are otherwise abandoned or separated due to hardships.
..greener pastures
We are not a rescue but a refuge and retreat for the horses here. The horses we take in become part of our large extended family, and life at nonifarm is all

about freedom, health and happiness. They’re checked every day and the horses all have access to run-in sheds in their fields. nonifarm horses are typically barefoot, fuzzy, and may have long manes going on. For nonifarm horses life at our farm is all about just that: being a horse.

Please join us in wishing a Happy Retirement to Magic!

Kindness of the Mercer family, Magic joined Thorncroft in 2020 and spent his time here becoming a huge favorite of everyone.

He is the sweetest soul, beautifully mannered, and a happy addition to our recreational, therapeutic, Veterans, and first responders programming.

We are so happy to be able to offer him retirement at the beautiful Nonifarm, with a special thank you to Eric for welcoming Magic to the herd. (Fun fact! Magic is retiring where former herd member JoJo is also retired!)

Finding the next home for our horses after their time at Thorncroft remains of the utmost importance to us. No matter the length of time spent at the Farm, or time to find their new home, our horses will always have a safe, welcoming home here.

Thank you Magic, for your service to your riders and to the Farm.

Magic being a 19 y.o. career therapeutic riding horse who is suffering from Equine Protozoal Myeloencephalitis (EPM). The disease attacks a horse's central nervous system. Without a timely diagnosis and treatment EPM can cause devastating and lasting neurological damage.

Magic’s treatment has begun. Sixty to 70 percent of EPM cases aggressively treated show significant or complete reversal of symptoms. Regardless of his recovery Magic has been retired from therapeutic riding and nonifarm has committed to being Magic’s forever home for the remainder of his days.

The Tale of the Fairy Knots 🧚‍♂️💙🧚‍♀️💜🧚🧡

The knots that appear in a horse's mane are known as Fairy Knots. During the night, it is said that a group of fairies wander out in search of horses. Once their ideal horse is found, they actually twist their manes to form little stirrups and reins on the horse. They then ride the horses all through the night and take them on magical adventures. The horses are always returned by morning, but the knots are left for when the fairies come again.

I use Sticker Mule a lot. With this one, you warned me the graphic was lower res than preferred. I went ahead with it anyway and the quality is great. Appreciate you making it work!

Although we are missing the presence of our magical unicorn Sunday's Shadow, her amazing energy is still very much here and watching over her nonifarm herd.

Shadow was nonifarm's first adoption as the retreat for senior equines it has become. As an elderly government-branded mustang, Shadow came to us after being rescued by humane law officers from a home where the horses were suffering from severe neglect and cruelty. Shadow had been nursed back to health by wonderful people at the Pennsylvania SPCA and spent more than three years in limbo with no one willing to adopt her.

The day she arrived here was unforgettable. She was described as standoffish and likely to be a loner. She came off that horse trailer with the excitement of a filly ready to claim nonifarm's green pastures as her home. Noni's beloved quarter horse Sunday had been on his own for several years. Things fell into place the moment the two of them met and she was by his side for the remainder of his days.

R.I.P. our sweetest, she is loved and missed always ❤️

Braveheart Rose is popular with the fairies!

Braveheart Rose is popular with the fairies!

Do you know the "elf knots"?
According to an ancient legend, the fairies visited the stables in the middle of the night to make knots in the manes of the horses.
It is said that once the horsehair of the horses braided, these little creatures used knots as stirrups to ride the horses at nightfall.
So if you find it in the morning in the mane of your horses is that the fairies have passed by last night.

RIP nonifarm’s Champion ❤️ We were able to nurse the old fella back to health and share his last year. With everything he went through he couldn’t have been more loving and gentle. He has a special place in our hearts and we are grateful for the time he was here with us.

It’s cold out there. Please be kind to opossums. Many of them find a cozy place to combat the cold. ( so many we see are missing parts of tails , ears , toes , due to previous frost bite ) and your garage or porch may be the only place they have , they won’t hurt anything , I promise , and shooing them out may be certain death due to lack of shelter. They are Northern America’s ONLY marsupial. And these precious souls eat fleas , ticks and other pests.
Please. This holiday season. Be kind. Be the change you wish to see in the world

The horses we take in become part of our large extended family, and life at nonifarm is all about freedom, health, and happiness. nonifarm horses live out in the fields 24/7. nonifarm is solely responsible for the horses' care and expenses, including but not limited to costly geriatric veterinary care, critical medications for chronic conditions, farrier/hoof care, the special nutritional needs of our senior herd, and the significant expense involved in saying our final goodbye. All of this is possible with the generous support we continue to receive from our donors.

ADOPT A CAISSON HORSE

Elvira is now available for adoption! The Old Guard is taking applications November 1 through November 30. Any applications submitted outside of this window will not be considered.

Elvira served as a Section and Swing horse for 16 years in the U.S. Army Caisson Platoon. For the last year she has undergone medical treatment for chronic lymphangitis in her right hind. She is a sweet horse with good ground manners, however with her prognosis, she is not suitable for riding. She would be a great addition to someone’s pasture to live out the rest of her life.

for more information visit our website at: https://www.oldguard.mdw.army.mil/specialty-platoons/caisson/adoption
