Yes!! Spot on.
And put so relatably.
Tuesdays are a day of making clients and dogs uncomfortable.
Today:
Riley the Rott who takes real offense over tolerating the tasks that make him uncomfortable - grooming, vetting, treading - really any sort of uninvited personal pressure or “forced” activity. Handled by Denise who is half Riley’s size and has been bullied by him in the past.
Nancy, the quirky because poorly socialized, so fearful prior to adoption, adorable mutt that relies on her dog housemate for confidence rather than looking to her person, handled by Tracey who is also still working on training the previous mutt they rescued that came with different challenges.
Then Chuckie, a most handsome and wonderful teenage English lab that is behaving very age appropriately amongst a somewhat disjointed (as far as training and relationship with a dog goes) family. Christine is doing her damndest, and fortunately Jack and Colleen have also been at every lesson and have been taking on the homework tasks. Mostly 😆
We finished up with our Master the Manicure class, where handlers have been having to dremel their trainer’s and client’s dogs’ nails, and then their own dogs. We sweat a lot in this class. 😂
This article hits hard tonight. And is worth the read!
