An icy blast is heading our way. Are you and your pets prepared? Now is the time to make sure, by double checking outdoor bedding, stocking supplies, and running scenarios in your head. Also, keep an eye on the Louisa CART page for emergency directions for pet owners. Let's all stay safe and warm!

Klinger, Hot Lips, and Radar are a trio of reformed spicies. These kittens were found outside and weren't used to humans, but our cat director worked some magic to bring them round. We call it Churu diplomacy, because it doesn't take many of those squeezy treat tubes before they see the light. They haven't been vetted yet, but you can pre-apply at www.louisahumanesociety.com.

We asked our adoptable dogs what their new year's resolutions were, and they didn't disappoint. Number one was getting adopted, but they all have some other things they'll be targeting in 2025. Help them make their goals at www.louisahumanesociety.com.

I know this looks like a typical hound pile, but it's so much more. This is the first time Missy has chosen a chew toy since we took her in several weeks ago. Seeing her gnaw on a benebone for the last 20 minutes is huge and gives us all smiles. We don't know what she's been through but she's showing us she's finally comfortable enough to indulge in a little relaxed fun. Hounds are sensitive by nature and Missy and Poppy came in pretty shut down and scared. They quickly bonded and we want to see these girls go together so they can help each other continue to heal. They're never far from each other and take comfort in each other's presence. You'll have two wonderful dogs if you're willing to let them take time to feel safe, secure, and loved. Apply at www.louisahumanesociety.com.

This is only a portion of the donations that were received from our angel tree boxes. Thank you so much Tractor Supply Co., Louisa Ace Hardware, and Shaggy Shears Pet Grooming for helping us collect these gifts. And a HUGE thank you to all of the folks who sent or dropped off supplies. We are so grateful and the pets are as well.

Meet Dottie! Dottie is a middle-aged lady who is crate trained, good on a leash, and good with other dogs. We are learning more about her as we go, but we can tell you that she is a sweetie. She makes us laugh because she likes to stockpile toys like a little dragon hoard. Dottie can go to a forever home once she gets spayed but you can apply now at www.louisahumanesociety.com.

Grell's face when he didn't get a family for Christmas. Grell is about 4 years old and is a gem. He's respectful of human belongings, very housebroken, and is crate trained. He's a big ball of Velcro and does fine with dogs and cats. Let's get this sweetie into the home he deserves. Apply at www.louisahumanesociety.com.

Our Bunny is still waiting for a family of her own. While she does only have one ear, she has full hearing which makes her know exactly when humans are talking about going for a ride or taking out the boat. This girl was born to be a copilot of anything that moves. Her foster family created the monster by taking her out in the golf cart while their dogs went for walks, since she was recovering from a heartworm infection and couldn't exert herself too much. Now fully healed, she's not about to give up a seat whether on land or water. Bunny is a fun little lady and is ready to call shotgun on her own family vehicle. Apply at www.louisahumanesociety.com.
