The Kentucky Humane Society Equine CARE team is hosting another HORSES 101 course, sponsored by Oxmoor Auto Group, starting Saturday, March 8 at our Willow Hope Farm in Simpsonville! 🐴📚 This four-week program is perfect for first-time horse owners, potential adopters or anyone looking to gain basic equine care and handling knowledge.

Friends, we need help stocking up on some supplies to keep our shelter pets healthy and happy as they await forever homes 🏡 Can you lend a helping paw? 🐾 Currently our greatest needs are:

🧡 Martingale collars (sizes S-L preferred)
🧡 Top Load Cat Carriers
🧡 Dog sweaters and coats (size XL preferred)
🧡 Feliway diffusers and spray
🧡 Puppy Pads
🧡 "Adopt me" leashes

Donations are gratefully accepted at our Sam Swope Pet TLC (Main Campus), 241 Steedly Drive, and can be left outside of our Admissions Department doors. ‼️ SUPPLIES NEEDED ‼️ We need help stocking up on some much-needed supplies to keep our shelter adult dogs cozy and happy this winter. Can you lend a helping paw? ❄🐾 Currently our greatest needs are:

🧡 Busy Bones (medium and large sizes preferred)
🧡 Dog sweaters and coats (sizes L-XL preferred)
🧡 Tug ropes and squeaky toys
🧡 Snuffle mats and puzzle feeders
🧡 Canned chicken and Vienna sausages

Blue Cross will be closing early tomorrow, Friday 1/10, due to the Winter Storm Warning and to allow safe travel home for our staff. We plan to reopen on Monday, 1/13 for normal business.

Blue Cross Animal Hospital will remain closed through Tuesday 1/7 due to the storm. We hope to reopen on Wednesday, 1/8, at which time we will be reaching out to anyone who had an appointment scheduled.

Our staff is our primary concern, and once we have a better idea of how the roads look and we are confident everyone can make it to work safely, we will reopen. Metropolitan Veterinary Emergency is open, and can be reached at 502-266-7007 for emergencies.

So an elf told us the best two ways to spread Christmas cheer are 1) singing loud for all to hear and 2) closing a bit early on Christmas Eve!!

We will close early at 3pm on 12/24, BUT, we will be offering discounted nail trims while we are here that day! Any (non-sedated) nail trim on 12/24 will be only $10 (That's about a 45% discount!).

We will be closed entirely 12/25 on Christmas Day, and return 12/26 for normal business hours.
