Hello everyone, I just learned about a bit of a mix up regarding Purple Beauty Sweet Peppers. The company who distributed the seeds (who I purchase from) has either sent Banana Pepper seeds labeled as Purple Beauty or mixed the varieties together. That means if you bought a Purple Beauty plant from us you might grow Banana Peppers instead. I learned this because I was confused why my plants seem to be growing Bananas. If anyone would like to replace them with an Orange or Red variety of sweet pepper, I am happy to do that for you. If you would like that, please just message us so we can figure out how to get the plant(s) to you ASAP. We apologize for the error, but obviously it was out of our control and we sincerely hope it doesn’t break the trust you have in us. Westport Road Baptist Farmers Market Pewee Valley Farmers Market

Pewee Valley Farmer's Market

Every other Thursday 5:30-7:30, beginning June 13 Pewee Valley Farmer's Market will be back in our parking lot! We need you! We have new and exciting plans for our booth and more and we need helpers! We will need 2-6 people to help each week. We are considering cooking, serving, and selling a simple hot dog basket; selling low-cost craft items; offering tours of the church; and telling people about St. James’ and why you love attending, etc. Of course, we always need help with set up and clean up! See Pam Martin to help.

If you would like to be a vendor (no business solicitations or used items) please contact the clerk at 502-241-8343 or email [email protected]

Hello everyone! I’m excited to say we are FINALLY going to get to the Westport Road Baptist Farmers Market this weekend. It’s been a crazy spring with me getting my hip replacement surgery and my son having his spring sports, plus he is GRADUATING! Because of everything we had to limit our plant start offerings this year. The tomatoes are ready to go and we will have them out on Saturday. The peppers need a little more time but they do look good, and we will have a lot of sunflowers for June. Mostly we are just excited to see everyone again!

Hello everyone, Todd here. I am taking a moment to thank everyone who have stopped by the tent at Westport Road Baptist Farmers Market and supported us the last 2.5 years. I have thoroughly enjoyed speaking to each of you! Whether you were an experienced gardener or were taking on the difficult challenge of learning to grow, I thank you for trusting me to help you along! In particular, Sandi thank you for encouraging and believing in me to do this, and giving me a space to get started at the market.

I am not calling it quits yet, but the land I was growing on was a lease and sadly I was informed they are beginning to develop that property. It’s probably best due to restrictions on how I could support the growing operation, and that created some very difficult situations without proper infrastructure. That lack of infrastructure already had damaged/killed most of the plants this season because we had no cost effective way to get water. Despite the struggles, I’ve had fun learning new ways to grow and getting creative using time tested methods!

As I said above, I am not done yet…but I am done for the year in regard to crops. I have some repairs on the house that need to get done. I also need to find a new plot to grow on. If I can get that done, maybe there’s a chance to have some scratch made baked goods in the last few weeks of the season. And if anyone knows of a few acres for sale, please reach out to me. Thank you!

A bit of unfortunate news as we will have to miss another weekend at Westport Road Baptist Farmers Market. Sadly my part time job has a co worker out for a family emergency and another on vacation. So I am needed this weekend. I really hate to miss the market (again) but life sometimes requires we move in a way counter to our desires. I hope everyone has a wonderful weekend and I look forward to seeing you soon.

We will not be able to set up at Westport Road Baptist Farmers Market for tomorrow 6/3. It’s been a busy week as we continue to get our plants into the field, and we’ve got quite a lot left to do. Due to the outstanding enthusiasm from many of you to start your own gardens, with our transplants, we don’t have much remaining to bring out. Therefore we felt it would be a better use of our time to continue planting. We greatly appreciate the support and hope to see everyone next week. If you are still looking for transplants, just message us and we’ll do what we can to help!

Hello all! I hope you are enjoying planting and getting your hands dirty for the start of this WARM growing season. For those still trying to find a way to get growing, I think I have found a reasonably priced solution that, to me, feels similar in quality to higher priced bags you see in retail stores. I took the leap and got some to try, but will also have a limited amount for anyone who is willing to join in the experiment/experience with me. If these work as well as I hope, I would like to make them available on a regular basis to help every grow more!

We are finally getting our heirloom Mortgage Lifter & Amana Orange tomatoes to come in. Plus the long anticipated Banana Melons. These guys are huge, 16”+ and heavy. They have a wonderfully tropical scent (pina colada to my nose) but only a subtle hint of banana flavor for this unique cantaloupe. Also look for more sugary Canary Melons & Wild Cherry tomatoes at the Westport Road Baptist Farmers Market this weekend.

It has been a crazy journey from stolen truck & not being able to keep the farm lease last October, to getting the land back in May and scrambling to have a late garden…but we finally have the 1st picks of our season! I am thrilled that we will have our popular Cocozelle Zucchini & Cube of Butter Squash varieties available this weekend at Westport Road Baptist Farmers Market. 06/28/2022

Good Monday morning folks. Wanted to take a moment to apologize for missing that last couple of weeks at the market. You may recall we lost our field lease at the end of last October. Well we got it back about 6 weeks ago. We’ve been putting in double overtime to get it ready to plant and then to put the transplants in. I am happy to report the last plants were transplanted just yesterday. It will be a late season crop for us, but we are happy to be back on track.
