Sometimes life gets away from us. Sometimes, it's family loss, work demands, or household chaos. Other times, it's depression, anxiety, fear, and avoidance. Sometimes, it's being absent-minded, lazy, or procrastinating. But always - we are imperfect people. We don't always get it right, and even when we know the steps to take, we can't bring ourselves to make them, no matter how easy the steps seem. No one gets a dog and says to themselves, "I think today's the day I'll drop the ball for three months and leave my dogs hair to do whatever." My salon is (mostly) a judgment free zone. You don't always know someone's circumstances or mental health, and sometimes, picking up a brush can feel like the most exhausting thing you could imagine. Groomers exist for a reason. We're here to help people do what they can't/won't/aren't able to. We may educate you on proper cost care, try to persuade you into a set schedule, and charge for our time and skill set, but we will never shame you for being human. Likewise, we are also as imperfect as everyone else, and sometimes we get it wrong or drop the ball as well. (Except when we drop the ball, there's always a dog around to catch it and help us feel better). If you find yourself having any of these struggles, talk to me. I can and will help in every way I'm able to. This is neglect. He eats well, he's healthy, and he's loved. However, his coat care and sanitary condition were neglected for a few long months. With a lot of time, baby talk, patience, and breaks, he slowly went from sad/dirty/nervous boy to actually SMILING, playing, and happy. The look on his face - THAT is the reason I became who I am, and I love what I do each day.
It's okay to be human. It's okay to be imperfect. It's also okay to ask for help or guidance, and I'll never judge you or turn you away. (Unless your dog turns into cujo on the table because I'm not a wizard, nor do I have puncture resistant skin).
I appreciate every single one of you and the wonderful dogs you bring to my salon. Keep doing your best, and I'm here if you need assistance.
