Every Saturday our ACA volunteer team greets caretakers who have appointments for their community cats scheduled during the upcoming week. It's a great opportunity to hang out with friends, make new connections, and make a difference in the community in an easy way. They are arguably, one of our most fun and social days with multiple volunteer opportunities.

Whether you have every Saturday, every other Saturday, or a couple of hours on one Saturday each month available, we'd love for you to consider joining our team. Our next volunteer orientation is October 10 @ 6:30 p.m. @ our office, where we can answer all your questions. We hope to see you there! 😸

Grace recently came to us to be spayed and receive vaccinations and flea and ear mite treatment. All appeared to be well and Grace went back to her outdoor home after her two day stay at Alley Cat Advocates. After being home for a few days, her caretaker noticed she wasn't eating much. She came back to the Community Cat Complex and our veterinarian discovered an intestinal blockage, unrelated to the spay surgery, which she repaired. Grace continues to have complications and will be with us for some time while she heals.

Scenarios like this one are thankfully infrequent, but when they happen they take a toll on our budget as we have to utilize additional resources to ensure the cat gets the best care possible. Caring for Grace has used up a significant amount of dollars.

We are asking you today to please consider a gift to help us offset the cost of caring for Grace and other cats who come to us needing more than just spay or neuter surgery. With your support, together we can help these cats who desperately need us.

WOW, it is Wednesday! That means it is time to tell you about one of the items on our Back to School Wishlist. One reason that we house cats that come in for surgery in their traps overnight is to allow them to remain clean and sanitary. Any waste easily falls through the trap onto the rack beneath. We keep the rack clean by lining it with a layer of plastic and newspapers. We are running low on the plastic that we use to cover the racks before the traps are put on them. The perfect size plastic is now on our Amazon and WalMart Wishlists. Order there and have it sent straight to our door.

If a cat has ever scratched you, you know how sharp and painful those little claws can be. So, you can imagine just how much pain Cinnamon was in when we found a claw embedded into her paw. A birth defect likely caused the claw to grow the wrong way. Our veterinarian will fix her right up with surgery to remove the offending toe. Once she heals no one will ever notice that she is one toe short. Please donate to help us cover the costs of the extra surgery and care for Cinnamon while she heals.

Thank you so much to those volunteers and supporters who donated bleach for laundry when we sent out the SOS a couple of weeks ago. We got through a few weeks, but we are running out again. Could you please send a few gallons through one of our wish lists or just drop some off at the Community Cat Complex on Friday or Saturday 12:30 p.m. to 3:30 p.m. Our laundry team thanks you!

All cats get the gold standard of care at Alley Cat Advocates. Dan is no exception. Dan came in with entropion in both eyes. He needed surgery to correct the inward curling eyelids so that he could see clearly and be pain-free. Fortunately, our veterinary team can help and he is now recovering. This sweet boy is so lucky to get great care. Can you donate to help us cover the costs of Dan's care?
