We're being asked about the respiratory issue that is being wide spread on social media and receiving some news attention. Know that the well being of the pups in our care continues to be our number one priority. Here at the Salon we are staying up to date with incoming information. At this time we are keeping standard safety protocols in place. We clean with viral and bacterial sanitizers, healthy dogs are required to be up to date on vaccines, and we ask that any symptomatic dogs stay home. We have had no cases in Kentucky at this time. Should the situation change we will let you know. ~Leigh

HOMEMADE PUMPKIN DOG TREAT RECIPE

Ingredients:
- 2 ½ cups whole wheat flour

- 2 large eggs

- ½ cup canned pumpkin

- 2 tablespoons peanut butter

- ½ teaspoon salt

- ½ teaspoon ground cinnamon

- 1 teaspoon water, or more if necessary (Optional)

Directions:
1. Preheat oven to 350°

2. Combine flour, eggs, pumpkin, peanut butter, salt, and cinnamon in a bowl; stir with a spatula until combined.

3. Transfer mixture to a work surface and work it with your hands until mixture starts to come together. Add 1 teaspoon water at a time (only if needed) to help make the dough workable, but don't add too much as it should be dry and stiff.

4. Roll the dough to a thickness of 1/2 inch.

5. Cut into 1/2-inch pieces and transfer to a baking sheet.

6. Bake in the preheated oven until dog treats are golden brown and crunchy, about 40 minutes. Let cool before serving to your dog.

Happy Fall Ya'll! MLPS's favorite Girl Scout, Raine, is doing Fall fundraising for troop 721. Raine's troop has grown and now needs to raise more money to continue to afford activities and trips this fall and winter.

Giving baths at home? If your dog has longer fur, gently SQUEEZE them with the towel, never rub them. This will help prevent mats. And don't forget to brush! 🐩

OWNER TIP! If your dog has longer fur make sure you own a slicker brush. Slicker brushes consist of fine, short wires close together on a flat surface. A slicker brush can be used to remove mats and tangles, and to smooth the fur to create a shine. It’s good for dogs who shed a lot or often have tangles, and a must have for curly fur.

EXTRA TIP: Fur messy after potty breaks? Sprinkle in baby powder (with cornstarch) and brush it in with your slicker brush. It will absorb the mess and freshen up their fur.
